Nasuni appointed Sam King chief executive officer effective April 1, 2025. She succeeded Paul Flanagan, who retired from the CEO role after eight years and stayed with the company as non-executive chairman of its board. The change puts a former Veracode chief executive in charge as Nasuni pursues growth in enterprise hybrid-cloud file data.
Who is Sam King?
King joined application-security company Veracode in 2006 and served as its CEO from 2019 to 2024. Nasuni said she helped scale Veracode into a category-leading application-security platform. Flanagan later credited her with shifting the business from a flagship security-testing product toward a broader, AI-driven application-security platform through acquisitions and internal innovation.
In a note about the handoff, Flanagan said that during King’s Veracode tenure the company generated several hundred million dollars in revenue. That figure is his characterization; Nasuni’s announcement did not provide a financial breakdown of Veracode’s results.
Why did Nasuni hire the former Veracode CEO?
Nasuni presented King’s experience scaling a security-software business as relevant to its next phase of innovation and growth. The company sells a unified file-data platform that combines storage and data services in a hybrid-cloud solution for enterprise unstructured data. Its customers include organizations in manufacturing, media and advertising, construction, consumer brands and energy, with services delivered in more than 70 countries.

The appointment also followed a period of expansion under Flanagan. In his April 1, 2025 account of the transition, he said Nasuni had grown more than 15 times to nearly 1,000 customers, was profitable and had nearly 600 employees. He also cited a $1.2 billion valuation in a 2024 majority investment by Vista Equity Partners, KKR and TCV. These are figures Flanagan provided, not independently detailed operating results in the CEO announcement.
What happened to Nasuni’s previous CEO?
Flanagan retired from the chief executive position after eight years and remained on Nasuni’s board as non-executive chairman. That separates day-to-day executive leadership from board oversight while preserving his board role. Nasuni’s announcement described the appointment as a transition toward the company’s next phase, not as Flanagan’s departure from the organization.

What does King’s appointment mean for Nasuni’s AI and cloud strategy?
King framed Nasuni’s opportunity around what she called the “triple challenge” facing enterprises: AI adoption, faster cloud migration and support for distributed workforces. She said the company’s role is to provide trusted, secure and performant access to enterprise data. In practical terms, the emphasis is on making company files usable across locations and cloud environments without losing sight of security and performance.
Her background at Veracode gives her experience in application security and in broadening a software platform through acquisitions and product development. It does not, by itself, establish a particular Nasuni AI product roadmap or guarantee specific customer outcomes. Nasuni’s current leadership biography says that since becoming CEO King has overseen two strategic acquisitions, a rebrand and global operating expansion; it does not, in the cited account, specify the acquisitions’ financial contribution.

Is there a Nasuni partner opportunity for solution providers?
CRN reported that the CEO appointment coincided with a revamped partner program aimed at solution providers pursuing hybrid-cloud data-management opportunities. That makes channel strategy relevant to the leadership transition, but the announcement alone does not establish current enrollment rules, geographic availability, partner margins or commercial terms. Solution providers should confirm those details directly with Nasuni before treating the program as an available opportunity.
