The Surface Pro 9 Cyber Monday deal was a historical offer, not a price confirmed as available now. An article published December 3, 2024, reported that Amazon was selling an Intel Surface Pro 9 for $899.01, compared with a stated $1,499.99 reference price. That is a $600.98 difference. The archived article does not establish today’s price, stock, seller, device condition, or warranty, so check those details on a current retailer listing before buying.
What the 2024 deal advertised
| Deal detail | Reported information |
|---|---|
| Sale price | $899.01, reported December 3, 2024 |
| Reference price | $1,499.99, as stated in the original Android Headlines deal article |
| Difference | $600.98 by subtraction; the headline rounded this to “$600 off” |
| Retailer cited | Amazon; the archived short link does not verify a live listing or its seller |
| Configuration cited | 12th-generation Intel Core i5-1245U, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD, and Windows 11 Pro |
| Current availability | Not established |
The original article described the price as a Cyber Monday discount and said it was the lowest price its publisher had observed at the time. That is a historical characterization, not evidence of a current offer or an independently verified all-time low.
What this Surface Pro 9 configuration offers
The advertised unit combines a 12th-generation Intel processor with 16GB of memory and a 256GB SSD. That is a sensible starting point for typical productivity—documents, browsing, video calls, and multitasking—but 256GB can feel restrictive if you keep large media libraries, games, creative project files, or virtual machines on the device.
Display, portability, and battery estimate
Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 specifications list a 13-inch PixelSense Flow display at 2880 × 1920 resolution, a 3:2 aspect ratio, and a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The Intel Wi-Fi model weighs approximately 1.94 pounds. Its integrated kickstand supports upright viewing and presentation use; it does not make the tablet a hinged laptop.

#1 Best Overall
- Processor Manufacturer: Intel
- Processor Type: Core i5
- Processor Generation: 12th Gen
- Processor Model: i5-1245U
- Processor Core: Deca-core (10 Core)
Microsoft estimates up to 15.5 hours of typical usage for the Intel/Wi-Fi model. This is a manufacturer estimate under its testing conditions, not a guaranteed runtime; actual battery life varies with settings, workload, and device condition.
Windows 11 Pro is worth verifying
Microsoft’s specification sheet distinguishes consumer Intel configurations, which generally ship with Windows 11 Home, from commercial configurations that may ship with Windows 11 Pro. Pro can matter for work environments that need features such as domain management, but confirm that the specific listing includes a valid Pro license and activation. Do not assume every Surface Pro 9 described as an Intel model has Pro.

Check the processor and exact model before purchasing
There is a meaningful processor discrepancy to resolve: the deal article identifies the advertised processor as an Intel Core i5-1245U, while Microsoft’s general Surface Pro 9 specification page lists a Core i5-1235U for the consumer Intel model. Both are 12th-generation, 10-core processors, but they are different SKUs. The mismatch may reflect a business configuration or a retailer listing, but the available information does not establish which explanation applies to that historical offer.
If you find a current listing, rely on its precise model or SKU and specification details rather than a broad title such as “Surface Pro 9 i5.” Confirm the processor, RAM, storage, Windows edition, and condition match what you intend to buy. Microsoft’s Surface Pro 9 product page provides family-level product information, but does not resolve the archived Amazon listing’s exact SKU.

Budget for the complete setup
The archived deal article does not establish that a keyboard or pen was included. A tablet’s built-in kickstand is useful, but it is not a keyboard. If you need a laptop-like setup, calculate the total as tablet price + keyboard price + pen price, if needed. Verify each accessory’s compatibility and current price separately; do not infer that it is bundled from product photography or “2-in-1” marketing.
Before checkout, confirm these listing details:
- Condition: new, refurbished, renewed, or used—and, for used stock, battery condition.
- Seller and fulfillment: identify the actual seller, particularly on a marketplace listing.
- Included items: keyboard, pen, charger, and original packaging, if they matter to you.
- Windows activation: confirm the stated edition and that its license is valid for the device.
- Returns and warranty: check the return period and whether coverage comes from Microsoft, the retailer, a third-party seller, or a refurbisher.
- Model details: match the processor, memory, and storage to the listing’s exact SKU.
The original Amazon short link could not be independently resolved, so it cannot establish any of these details for a present-day purchase.

Is a Surface Pro 9 worth buying at a discount?
It may suit you if
- You want a light Windows tablet with a high-resolution 3:2 screen for documents, browsing, and note-taking.
- The verified listing has the 16GB RAM and storage capacity you need, and the total cost remains attractive after adding any required accessories.
- You have a specific reason to use Windows 11 Pro and the listing confirms valid Pro activation.
Look elsewhere if
- You need serious gaming or GPU-intensive creative performance; integrated graphics are not a replacement for a dedicated gaming GPU.
- You need more than 256GB of local storage and do not want to manage external or cloud storage.
- You type for long stretches and prefer a built-in keyboard, a hinged screen, or more ports without buying add-ons.
- The device is used or renewed without clear battery-health, return, and warranty terms.
- Its total price approaches that of a newer Surface or a current Windows laptop that better fits your needs.
Surface Pro 9 is an older generation as of August 2026, so its discount alone does not establish good value. Compare the current price and warranty of the exact configuration with newer Surface models and conventional Windows laptops before deciding. Buyers who need full Windows desktop software should also distinguish this device from tablet-first alternatives; browser-focused users may find a Chromebook Plus sufficient, while iPad models serve different app and ecosystem needs.

How to assess a listing today
- Find a current, canonical retailer product page; do not treat the 2024 archived short link as a live offer.
- Match the model number and confirm whether the processor is the i5-1235U or i5-1245U, along with RAM, storage, and Windows edition.
- Check condition, seller, shipping availability, return terms, and warranty before comparing prices.
- Add the cost of any keyboard or pen you need, then compare the total with newer devices that include a keyboard or suit your workload better.
