Memorial Day 2026 was May 25, 2026, so those sale prices and retailer listings are historical, not live offers. The advertised “up to $700” was mainly a conditional Microsoft trade-in rebate—not an automatic $700 checkout discount.

What the 2025 Memorial Day promotion actually offered
The original promotion was described as running through June 30, 2025. Microsoft advertised up to $700 in rebate value on qualifying new Copilot+ PCs, but the amount depended on the traded-in device’s model, configuration, condition, and functionality.
Laptop Mag’s example used a Surface Laptop 4 and estimated a $400 rebate. The same device would have produced about $133 without the promotional uplift. That means “up to $700” was a ceiling for eligible trade-ins, not a universal coupon or instant price cut.

An initial online estimate could be reduced after inspection. Devices generally needed to power on, hold a charge, function properly, and avoid problems such as a cracked display, liquid damage, missing components, or password protection. How to calculate the price you will really pay
Use this formula before comparing stores:
Effective price = device price + required accessories − confirmed trade-in credit
For a Surface Pro, add the keyboard and, if needed, the Slim Pen. Also account for sales tax, shipping, protection plans, and financing costs. A low tablet headline can become a less competitive laptop replacement after accessories are added.

ARM compatibility deserves a check before buying
Snapdragon-based Surface Laptop 7 and Surface Pro models can be attractive for efficiency and quiet operation, but compatibility is application-specific. Verify support for legacy business programs, engineering or medical software, accounting tools, proprietary device drivers, virtualization, development environments, and games that use anti-cheat systems. Do not assume every Windows application or peripheral behaves identically to an Intel system.

- Identify the exact old-device model, processor, RAM, storage, and condition.
- Save Microsoft’s estimate and the promotion’s terms before submitting the trade-in.
- Back up the old device, remove accounts and passwords, and perform a secure reset.
- Confirm that it powers on, holds a charge, and includes required components.
- Photograph the device and its condition before shipment.
- Check the final credit after inspection; an estimate is not a guarantee.
- Compare Microsoft’s total configured price with authorized retailer listings, including keyboard, pen, warranty, and return terms.
- For marketplace listings, verify the seller, warranty, and return policy rather than relying on a “was” price.
Bottom line
The nine deals were legitimate 2025 offers, but the Memorial Day sale is over and its “up to $700” figure was a conditional trade-in maximum. Current shoppers should start with Microsoft’s dated 2026 listings, compare fully configured prices, and treat any trade-in amount as confirmed only after the device passes inspection.
