Memorial Day 2026 fell on Monday, May 25, and its sales did not begin on one universal date. Early offers appeared in the first week of May, while many official promotions were underway during the week before the holiday. As of October 4, 2026, the prices and promotions below are historical examples, not current offers or a forecast for next year.
When did Memorial Day sales start in 2026?
Retailers set their own schedules. USA Today’s April 30, 2026 deal guide reported that early-bird discounts had begun appearing in the first week of May and that official sales started during the week before Memorial Day. TechRadar reported on May 14 that Home Depot’s sale was already live. These reports describe the 2026 shopping window; they do not establish a fixed start date for every retailer or for a future year.
Memorial Day itself was Monday, May 25. The Home Depot’s official 2026 holiday-hours schedule listed regular hours for that day but advised customers to check their local store because hours can vary.
What deals could shoppers expect?
Outdoor living and home-improvement goods featured prominently in 2026 coverage. Lowe’s listed appliances, refrigerators, air fryers, washers and dryers, grills, patio furniture, lawn mowers, tools, lighting and paint among its Memorial Day sale categories. TechRadar’s May 14 Home Depot roundup covered patio furniture, grills, major appliances, lawn mowers, flowers and garden supplies, outdoor power equipment and tools.

Other coverage showed that the shopping event extended beyond outdoor projects. ABC News’ May 25 roundup included mattress, home-goods, fashion, cookware and bedding offers, with examples including a Mattress Firm bed-size promotion, up to $650 off select Saatva mattresses and 20% off Naturepedic sitewide. Those were reported promotions, not evidence that each was the best available price.
LG Electronics USA’s May 20 announcement listed promotions on select TVs, audio equipment, a laptop, kitchen and laundry appliances, and a cordless vacuum. Its stated eligible appliance bundle rebate period ran from April 9 through June 16, 2026. Models, prices and qualifying rules applied to the offers in that announcement; they should not be assumed to apply to other brands or promotions.

How to judge whether a sale is a good value
A discount percentage or crossed-out reference price is not enough to establish that an offer is unusually good. Compare the exact product and the total cost of getting it into use, rather than relying on the sale label.

Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minuteDriver Scan →Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problemsFix Now →Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesFind Drivers →- Match the exact model or SKU; similar product names can hide different features or configurations.
- Compare the delivered total, including delivery, installation and haul-away where relevant.
- Check the stated reference price against available recent price history rather than treating it as proof of a typical selling price.
- For bundles or rebates, confirm which products qualify, what must be purchased together, and how the rebate is claimed.
- Review return terms and the promotion’s end date before ordering.
These checks are especially useful for big-ticket items such as patio sets, grills, appliances, mattresses and TVs, where delivery terms, accessories or eligibility can change the real value of an apparent discount.
Were stores open on Memorial Day?
The Home Depot’s official 2026 holiday-hours schedule listed regular hours for Memorial Day, May 25, but noted that local store hours can vary. Confirm hours with the specific location before making a trip. That schedule is specific to Home Depot and does not establish other retailers’ hours.
