Louis Vuitton says breach notifications issued in multiple countries concern the same security incident, not separate regional attacks. The company said it detected unauthorized access and exfiltration of some customers’ personal data on July 2, 2025, contained the access, notified regulators and told BleepingComputer that payment information was not compromised in the database involved.

What Louis Vuitton confirmed

Customer notifications quoted by BleepingComputer describe unauthorized access to a Louis Vuitton system and the exfiltration of “certain personal data of some clients.” Louis Vuitton said notices sent in different jurisdictions refer to that same incident.

  • The company identified the incident on July 2, 2025.
  • It blocked the unauthorized access and said it was investigating with external cybersecurity specialists.
  • It notified relevant authorities, including the UK Information Commissioner’s Office.
  • It contacted customers in stages as regional notification requirements were handled.

Louis Vuitton’s statement is about the identity of the incident, not proof that every country held the same records or that every notified person’s data was exfiltrated.

Which countries were covered?

The strongest available reporting identifies customer notifications or affected customers in five regions:

Region What the reporting establishes
South Korea Customer notifications were reported.
Turkey Customer notifications were reported.
United Kingdom Customer notifications were reported; the UK regulator was notified.
Italy Added in BleepingComputer’s July 17 update.
Sweden Added in BleepingComputer’s July 17 update.

These five regions are not necessarily a complete worldwide list. A secondary repost mentioned Hong Kong, but that claim was not substantiated by the strongest available reporting and should not be treated as confirmed.

What information was exposed?

Louis Vuitton has publicly described the data only as certain customers’ personal data. The available reporting does not establish a complete global field-by-field inventory or the number of people affected. It therefore does not support saying that names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth or purchase histories were exposed for all regions.

A notification means a customer was included in an affected dataset or could not be ruled out; it does not, by itself, prove that every recipient’s records were downloaded.

Was payment information stolen?

Louis Vuitton told BleepingComputer that payment information was not compromised in the database accessed during the incident. That is narrower than a guarantee that no customer faces financial harm: stolen contact or account information can still enable phishing, impersonation, password attacks and fraudulent customer-service calls.

Louis Vuitton’s US security FAQ says the US website does not retain credit-card information, but that general policy is not forensic evidence about every regional system involved in the 2025 incident. See the website-security FAQ and security-policy FAQ for the company’s general statements.

Is ShinyHunters responsible?

That attribution remains unconfirmed by Louis Vuitton. BleepingComputer reported that sources linked the LVMH incidents to ShinyHunters and described access to data held by a third-party vendor. Louis Vuitton did not publicly confirm the group’s involvement, identify the vendor or explain the technical route into the data.

Accordingly, the accurate description is that the breach was reported as possibly linked to ShinyHunters—not that ShinyHunters definitively hacked Louis Vuitton.

How it may relate to other 2025 breaches

The Louis Vuitton disclosures followed reports involving Tiffany & Co. in April 2025 and House of Dior in May 2025. BleepingComputer also reported suspected connections to an Adidas incident affecting customers in South Korea and Turkey. Those links describe a possible broader data-theft campaign; the affected companies have not publicly established that all incidents were one operation.

Later reporting grouped LVMH and Adidas among organizations allegedly targeted in a wider ShinyHunters-linked campaign, but that does not convert the July Louis Vuitton attribution into a company-confirmed finding. See BleepingComputer’s campaign report for its source-attributed account.

What affected customers should do

  1. Verify the notice. Do not click unexpected links. Confirm details through Louis Vuitton’s official contact page or the privacy channel listed in the notice.
  2. Change reused passwords. Replace any Louis Vuitton password and every other account using the same or a similar password.
  3. Turn on multifactor authentication. Prioritize email, banking, shopping and social-media accounts.
  4. Expect targeted phishing. Be cautious with messages about purchases, deliveries, refunds, loyalty benefits or account verification.
  5. Protect one-time codes and payment details. Legitimate support should not ask for authentication codes or complete card credentials by email or unsolicited phone call.
  6. Monitor accounts and inboxes. Watch for password-reset requests, new-device alerts, unusual transactions and convincing impersonation attempts.

What remains unknown

  • The total number of affected people.
  • A complete list of exposed data fields for each country.
  • The identity of any third-party vendor involved.
  • The initial access method and attack technique.
  • Whether the investigation has reached a final public conclusion.

Louis Vuitton’s general privacy and legal information is available through its US legal notices. Those materials explain ordinary privacy contacts and policies, not the missing forensic details of this incident.
