Lojas Americanas reportedly offered 20% cashback through Ame Digital on the Motorola Moto G8 Play at participating physical stores, with the promotion ending November 11, 2019. At the reported R$1,099 price, that cashback would have been R$219.80—an effective cost of R$879.20 only if the full balance was received and used. This was not an instant 20% discount, and the offer is expired.
How much was the cashback worth?
A report published November 7, 2019 listed the Moto G8 Play at R$1,099 and described a 20% Ame Digital cashback offer. Applying that percentage to the reported price gives:
| Calculation | Amount |
|---|---|
| Reported purchase price | R$1,099.00 |
| 20% cashback, calculated on R$1,099 | R$219.80 |
| Effective cost if all cashback was received and used | R$879.20 |
The R$879.20 figure is a theoretical net cost, not the price necessarily charged at checkout. A buyer would first pay the purchase price and then need to receive and use the cashback, subject to Ame’s rules for the campaign. The contemporaneous report does not establish whether cashback was calculated on the full or discounted price, or whether shipping or taxes counted toward its base.
How the promotion reportedly worked
The 2019 report described a Motorola and Lojas Americanas campaign offering 20% cashback through Ame Digital on the Moto G8 Play at physical Lojas Americanas stores, through Monday, November 11, 2019. It did not establish that every branch participated, that online orders qualified, or that stock and pricing were uniform across Brazil.

What the Moto G8 Play offered
Motorola launched the Moto G8 Play in Brazil in October 2019. It was an entry-level phone with a 6.2-inch-class display, triple-camera system, 4,000-mAh battery, 32 GB of storage, and 2 GB of RAM. Motorola’s product page identifies the model; contemporary launch coverage and a Tecnoblog review provide additional context.

Strengths and trade-offs
- The 4,000-mAh battery and triple-camera setup, including a wide-angle view, were useful features for a budget-class phone.
- With 2 GB of RAM and entry-level performance, it was less suited to demanding games or heavy multitasking than stronger Moto G8 models, as the Moto G8 comparison helps illustrate.
- Its 32 GB of internal storage could feel restrictive. The hybrid SIM tray required choosing between two SIM cards or one SIM card plus a microSD card.
Those compromises matter when judging the deal: a lower effective cost could make the phone more appealing to a buyer with basic needs, but the cashback did not change the handset’s performance or storage limits.

No. The documented campaign ended November 11, 2019, so it should be treated as a historical promotion, not a current way to buy the phone. Motorola’s product page confirms the model’s identity but does not establish that the Americanas/Ame campaign remains active. Any separate current offer would need its own current terms and confirmation.
