Short answer: LIVFRESH Gum Protect is a fluoride toothpaste gel with 0.454% stannous fluoride, labeled for cavity protection and gingivitis-related uses. That tells you what the current product is designed to do; it does not prove every company comparison or guarantee a particular result. The most useful way to assess LivFresh is to check its label, distinguish current ingredients from formulas in clinical studies, and weigh its directions and cautions against your own dental needs.
What is LIVFRESH Gum Protect?
The current U.S. DailyMed label, updated February 2, 2026, identifies LIVFRESH Gum Protect as an over-the-counter gel dentifrice. Its active ingredient is 0.454% stannous fluoride, equivalent to 0.15% w/v fluoride ion. The label lists anticavity and antigingivitis purposes, including helping prevent cavities and gingivitis, controlling bleeding gums, and interfering with harmful plaque effects associated with gingivitis. Read the DailyMed label.
That active ingredient matters: the American Dental Association says evidence supports twice-daily brushing and notes that stannous-fluoride toothpaste can decrease gingivitis and periodontal disease risk. This is ingredient-level context, not proof that LivFresh outperforms another toothpaste. See the ADA’s home-care guidance.
How should you use it, and what should you watch for?
For adults and children age 12 and older, the label directs brushing twice daily or as directed by a dentist. Wet the brush, apply a pea-sized amount of gel, and do not wet the brush again after applying the gel. Brush thoroughly, spit, rinse, and do not swallow. Consult a dentist for children under 12.

The label cautions that stannous-fluoride products may cause surface staining. It says adequate brushing may prevent staining; any such stains are not harmful or permanent and may be removed by a dentist.
Stop using the product and consult a dentist if gum redness, gingivitis, or bleeding lasts more than two weeks. Painful or swollen gums, pus at the gum line, loose teeth, or increasing spaces between teeth may be signs of periodontitis. Keep the product away from children younger than 12; if more than the amount used for brushing is swallowed, seek medical help or contact Poison Control for advice.

What ingredients are in the current labeled formula?
Besides stannous fluoride, DailyMed lists these inactive ingredients: water, sulfonylbismethane, edathamil, propylene glycol, peppermint, sodium cocoyl isethionate, carrageenan gum, stevia, menthyl lactate, xanthan gum, menthol, sodium hydroxide, and Brilliant Blue FCF. Check the package label if you have an ingredient sensitivity, since product labels are the right reference for the specific item you buy.
What do LivFresh clinical studies show?
Published studies have evaluated particular LivFresh formulas, not an abstract product name. Their findings should be read in light of the tested ingredients, participants, comparison toothpaste, duration, and measured outcomes.
Rank #3
The six-month study of an earlier formula
A 2019 prospective randomized, positive-controlled, double-blind study enrolled 33 people with Stage II or III periodontitis. The test group used a LivFresh gel containing 2.6% edathamil; the control group used Crest ProHealth. Participants brushed twice daily, with measurements taken at baseline and on days 90 and 180. The authors reported significantly greater improvement in gingival inflammation, bleeding, and periodontal pocket probing depths in the test group. The small sample, periodontitis population, six-month duration, and tested formula limit how broadly those findings can be applied. Read the 2019 study record.
The three-month study of a fluoride-containing formula
A separate randomized, double-blind study lasting three months evaluated LivFresh Dental Gel SF, formulated with 0.454% stannous fluoride and 2.6% EDTA, against four commercially available dentifrices in 150 subjects. This study is more directly relevant to a fluoride-containing LivFresh gel, but its results still pertain to that trial formulation and its conditions—not automatically to every LivFresh product or every user. Read the study record.
Rank #4
Together, these studies show that LivFresh formulas have been studied; they do not establish that every current product has the same formula, that every buyer will experience the study outcomes, or that the brand is superior for every dental concern.
How should you interpret the company’s performance claims?
LivFresh advertises that its gel removes plaque “250% better” than a market leader. A current Gum Protect+ product page advertises reductions in gum swelling and bleeding “400% better” than a leading ADA-approved brand. These are manufacturer-stated comparisons, not universal outcomes established by the product pages themselves. To judge either figure, a reader needs the underlying study and its exact formula, comparator, endpoint, and conditions. The Gum Protect+ claim should not be treated as a result for every LivFresh SKU. See the Gum Protect+ product page.

The company also describes an activated-edathamil mechanism. A manufacturer explanation can describe its position, but it does not independently validate comparative performance. The company’s oral-care page summarizes additional trial data and cites publications; use the peer-reviewed papers for details such as study design and results rather than treating promotional interpretations as independent findings. Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone.Does LivFresh have the ADA Seal?
ADA Seal acceptance applies to a specific product and evaluated claims; it should not be inferred from an ingredient or from another brand’s approval. The ADA explains its Seal evaluation process and provides a searchable product directory. The information available here does not establish current Seal acceptance for LIVFRESH Gum Protect, so check the directory for the exact product and current listing before relying on that claim. Learn about the ADA Seal and search ADA Seal products.
Is LivFresh worth buying?
Whether it is worth buying depends on the product’s price where you shop, your dental priorities, and how it compares with alternatives available to you. The evidence here does not establish a current price or a basis for declaring it a value for everyone. Use these checks before deciding:
- Confirm the exact product and active ingredient. Gum Protect’s current label lists 0.454% stannous fluoride; do not assume every LivFresh gel has the same formula.
- Match the evidence to the claim. A study of an earlier edathamil formula or a specific trial product is not automatically evidence for a different SKU or a promise about your results.
- Compare the complete product and your needs. Consider ingredient sensitivities, taste, directions, staining cautions, and advice from your dentist—not just an advertised percentage.
- Verify any Seal claim directly. Search for the exact product in the ADA directory rather than assuming that “ADA-approved” advertising means this product holds the Seal.
If you have ongoing bleeding, gum swelling, or other symptoms, a toothpaste should not replace dental assessment. Follow the label’s warning and consult a dentist when symptoms persist or when you notice signs that could indicate periodontal disease.
