Littelfuse opened a 106,000-square-foot manufacturing plant in Piedras Negras, Coahuila, Mexico, with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in May 2024. The facility is already producing electrical products for markets including renewable energy, data centers and telecommunications, and the company says it doubles its manufacturing capacity in the region.

The plant is in Piedras Negras, in the Mexican state of Coahuila. It is about 6.5 km from Littelfuse’s existing factory, according to the company’s May 9, 2023 manufacturing-location-change notice.

The move of industrial circuit-protection fuse production to the new location was outlined in the 2023 notice. At that time, Littelfuse targeted completion for the first quarter of 2024; the later ribbon-cutting announcement confirms the facility opened in May.
How many people work there?
Littelfuse says the local operation has approximately 1,000 employees, combining staff from nearby company locations with new hires. The company describes the site as accessible by public transportation and near daycare, and says it offers career-development and community-outreach opportunities.

What technology and sustainability features does it have?
Automation and energy efficiency
The plant uses automated systems that Littelfuse says are intended to improve precision, efficiency and customization. The company also lists smart air compressors, high-efficiency HVAC, safety relays and LED lighting among its facility features.
Water treatment and reported environmental results
Littelfuse describes water-treatment processes at the facility as resulting in zero water consumption. Separately, its 2025 sustainability report says a contaminated-water treatment system at Piedras Negras reduced emissions by more than 50% and hazardous waste by 80%. Those percentages are company-reported results; the available announcement material does not describe an independent audit of them.

What Littelfuse says about the opening
Peter Kim, the company’s senior vice president and general manager of its Industrial Business Unit, said, “We’re very pleased to announce the opening of a new location in Piedras Negras.” Darrick Santa Maria, vice president of Industrial Circuit Protection, said the new location would help the company align its services with customer demand in a growing space.
