To support LGBTQ-owned businesses with everyday purchases, start with brands whose ownership is documented—not simply products marketed for Pride. The available sources identify several useful shopping leads across hair care, jewelry, apparel, and snacks, but they do not verify a roster of 27 current LGBTQ-owned brands. Here are concrete places to begin, what the sources establish about each, and how to check ownership before you buy.

What “LGBTQ-owned” means—and what it doesn’t

“LGBTQ-owned,” “LGBTQ-founded,” “LGBTQ-friendly,” and “Pride-supporting” are not interchangeable. A founder’s identity does not by itself establish who owns or controls a business today. Nor does inclusive service, a Pride collection, or a retailer’s listing prove current ownership.

Inclusivity.org’s directory says, “We do not guess ownership from a name, logo, or neighborhood.” That is the directory’s stated sourcing method, not a universal industry standard. Useful evidence can include an attributable owner or founder statement, a current About page, an interview, a directory profile, or current third-party certification. Check whether the source says the business is owned by LGBTQ people or only founded by someone LGBTQ, and whether there has since been a change in control. Inclusivity.org

Shopping leads with specific products

The sources provide examples to explore, rather than 27 independently verified current ownership profiles. They span products that can be useful year-round, not just Pride merchandise. Confirm current ownership, item availability, and price with the seller before ordering.

Remilia Hair: hair care

Remilia Hair sells shampoo, conditioner, a hair mask, and The Cosmocap, an encapsulated hair serum. NBC Select describes Cosmocap as the brand’s first product and a continuing best seller. The reported claims that it reduces frizz and breakage, boosts shine, and offers heat protection are the brand’s claims as reported by NBC Select, not independent test results. The source identifies the product and brand but the evidence summarized here does not establish current ownership, so verify the ownership claim before treating it as an LGBTQ-owned purchase. Automic Gold: genderless jewelry

Automic Gold makes genderless jewelry, including bracelets, rings, necklaces, earrings, charms, and body jewelry. NBC Select identifies Al as the brand’s non-binary founder and designer. That supports describing the business as founded and designed by a non-binary person; by itself, it does not confirm current ownership or control. Check the brand’s current ownership information if that distinction matters to your purchase. NBC Select’s 2026 shopping guide

Kirrin Finch: menswear-inspired clothing

Kirrin Finch was started by Laura and Kelly Moffat and offers menswear-inspired clothing for a range of bodies, including pants, vests, jackets, and suits. NBC Select reports that the founders developed the brand after finding few suitable wedding alternatives and clothing options that let different customers express themselves. The source establishes the founders and the design purpose; check current ownership and product availability directly before purchase. NBC Select’s 2026 shopping guide

PHLUID Project: apparel at Target

Target’s LGBTQIA+ owned or founded collection has included PHLUID Project shirts, a sweatshirt, a jersey, and a tote. Target classifies products as “owned or founded”; it tells shoppers to look for the identifying icon in Product Details. That retailer label is a useful discovery clue, but it is not the same as independently confirming current majority ownership. Listings and stock can change. Pipcorn: snacks at Target

Pipcorn snacks also appear in Target’s LGBTQIA+ owned or founded collection. Use Target’s Product Details icon to see which products it includes in that collection, and read the listing for the specific snack and current availability. As with the apparel listings, the retailer’s label combines “owned or founded” and does not independently establish current majority ownership. Target’s collection

How to build a reliable shopping list

  1. Start with the product you actually need. Search across categories such as hair care, jewelry, clothing, or snacks rather than limiting purchases to seasonal Pride merchandise.
  2. Check the brand’s current ownership evidence. Read its About page or an attributable owner statement. Note whether it says LGBTQ-owned, LGBTQ-founded, or something narrower.
  3. Corroborate when the distinction matters. A directory or current certification can add context, but check its criteria and date. Inclusivity.org distinguishes ownership from friendliness and Pride support, and cautions that a founder story alone may not settle present-day control. Inclusivity.org
  4. Confirm the item and seller. Check the product page for current stock, price, sizing or ingredients, and whether you are buying from the brand or a retailer. A third-party marketplace purchase should not be described as directly supporting the brand unless that relationship is established.

What retailer collections and directories can tell you

Retailer collections and directories are useful discovery tools, but their labels and inclusion criteria vary. Target’s “owned or founded” wording covers more than a claim of current ownership. LGBTQ Outpost explicitly says its collection includes both brands founded by LGBTQ community members and other inclusive partners, so appearing there alone is not proof that every listed partner is LGBTQ-owned. LGBTQ Outpost’s collection

The examples here support finding products and checking ownership evidence; they do not establish which brand makes the best product. NBC Select reports the Remilia performance claims as claims from the brand, and no hands-on comparative product testing is established by these sources.
