Short answer: Koddos may suit technically capable customers who specifically need DDoS mitigation or offshore hosting, but the available reviews do not establish it as a safe default for business-critical systems. HostAdvice’s expert assessment is favorable, G2’s small review sample is mostly positive, and Trustpilot contains a substantial share of negative reviews, including allegations about undelivered servers and poor support. The HostAdvice pages also disagree on the review count: one refers to 77 users, while its current English page displays 79.
What the Koddos review counts and ratings actually show
There is no single, authoritative “77-user” score. HostAdvice’s localized page refers to 77 user reviews, while the English version currently displays “79 Users.” Counts can change as pages update, and “users” should not be taken to mean independently verified, long-term customers. The platforms also draw from different review pools; their counts should not be added together or treated as a representative survey of all customers.
| Platform | Visible sample and signal | What to keep in mind |
|---|---|---|
| HostAdvice and its Brazilian-language page | The English page displays 79 users; the localized page describes 77 user reviews. HostAdvice’s expert assessment is favorable. | The displayed count differs between pages. Expert scores and test results describe that assessment, not a company-wide guarantee. |
| G2 | 8 reviews; displayed rating of 4.2/5. | A small sample; one review is labeled incentivized, and another is flagged as potentially connected to the seller or a competitor and excluded from scoring. |
| Trustpilot | 53 reviews and an approximately 2.7/5 displayed score, with 39% one-star reviews in the observed snapshot. | Review totals and ratings change. Trustpilot says Koddos has not recently invited reviews or replied to negative reviews, so the sample may not represent all customers. |
The numbers above are platform snapshots, not directly comparable measures of service quality. G2 may reflect a different customer mix from Trustpilot, while HostAdvice’s expert assessment is not equivalent to a broad customer survey. It is more useful to look at recurring themes—and the seriousness of the complaints—than to average the scores.
What Koddos offers
Koddos markets hosting and DDoS-protection services that include shared hosting, VPS, dedicated servers, high-risk and medium-risk hosting, remote DDoS protection, offshore hosting, and colocation. G2 describes KoDDoS as focused on high-security hosting and DDoS mitigation, lists Hong Kong as its headquarters location, and says it was founded in 2009. Those company listings do not establish that every server or service is located in Hong Kong.

#1 Best Overall
The intended customer is not necessarily someone seeking a simple site builder. VPS and dedicated hosting require decisions about server administration, application setup, DNS, security, and recovery. Remote DDoS protection is a different kind of service from renting a server: confirm exactly how it fits your network and application before ordering.
What customers praise—and what they criticize
Positive reports: protection, stability, and assistance
Positive G2 reviews praise protection from automated DDoS traffic, responsive support, uptime, and security-oriented hosting. Reviewers also mention proactive help with malware or virus infections. Some Trustpilot reviewers describe good uptime, helpful technical assistance, and long-term satisfaction. Other positive themes across reviews and listings include RAID-10 storage, offshore options, and access to VPS and dedicated-server plans. These are user reports and listed features, not independent proof of performance on every plan.
Rank #2
Some third-party reviews mention cryptocurrency or privacy-oriented payment options. Verify accepted payment methods and the applicable privacy terms directly with Koddos before relying on those reports.
Ordinary limitations and fit issues
- Some reviewers find the DDoS-monitoring dashboard unintuitive.
- Python application hosting may require additional configuration, and reviewers describe the service as requiring technical expertise.
- One G2 reviewer says a support response can take up to 24 hours; HostAdvice’s assessment says phone support is unavailable.
- HostAdvice cites a CDN limitation, while the same page lists Cloudflare-related features. Because those statements appear inconsistent, ask the provider what CDN integration is included for the exact plan and setup you intend to use.
- G2 reviewers say the service can feel expensive for smaller or lower-risk sites.
These complaints are relevant when comparing a specialist host with a managed service: a protected server does not necessarily come with beginner-friendly setup or hands-off application management.
Serious Trustpilot allegations
Trustpilot contains customer complaints alleging servers were not delivered after payment, support was slow or ineffective, services were not supplied as promised, servers were shut down without sufficient warning, and abuse complaints were not handled adequately. Some reviewers also allege that unlawful or abusive content was hosted and raise concerns about legal, operational, or ownership relationships. These are reviewer allegations, not independently established findings. They should be weighed as warning signs—especially where delivery, communication, or service continuity is critical—without treating them as proven misconduct.
How reliable is Koddos?
HostAdvice gives Koddos a 9.0/10 performance score and a 9.0/10 support score, and reports 99.9% uptime and a 256 ms response time for its assessment. Those figures are HostAdvice’s reported results; the available information does not establish a long-term, independently measured uptime record across Koddos plans, customers, or locations. Do not treat the uptime figure as a universal service-level guarantee.
That favorable assessment sits alongside G2’s small but mostly positive sample and Trustpilot’s more concerning complaints. The evidence therefore supports a conditional view: some customers report useful protection and good support, but there is not enough consistent evidence to assume dependable fulfillment and support in every situation. DDoS mitigation is also not the same thing as general hosting reliability. Network protection cannot by itself prevent application vulnerabilities, credential theft, malware, data loss, DNS problems, provider suspensions, or routing failures.
Reported prices and the refund terms to verify

HostAdvice reports that a refund may be limited to 75% of fully prepaid monthly fees, requested within five business days, and dependent on a “proper reason.” That is a third-party description, not confirmation of Koddos’s current policy. Before ordering, obtain the current terms in writing and ask how the policy applies to your plan, setup fees, cancellations, and any provisioning delay.

It may be worth evaluating if you
- Have a specific need for DDoS mitigation or offshore infrastructure.
- Can administer or properly support a VPS or dedicated server, including DNS, firewalling, patching, backups, and recovery.
- Have checked that your content and business use comply with applicable law, the provider’s acceptable-use policy, and upstream network rules.
- Can test a low-risk workload and tolerate uncertainty while assessing support and provisioning.
Look elsewhere if you need
- Predictable provisioning, a clearly documented abuse process, or strong escalation and phone support.
- A beginner-friendly managed environment with straightforward onboarding and cancellation.
- A provider you can rely on as the sole home for a mission-critical system without an independent recovery plan.
- A generous, clearly verified money-back guarantee or extensive independently published reliability data.
Alternatives solve different problems rather than serving as like-for-like substitutes. Cloudflare can add CDN, DNS, web-application firewall, and DDoS-protection services in front of an existing host, but it is not a complete VPS or dedicated server. OVHcloud offers VPS and dedicated infrastructure with DDoS-oriented products; Hetzner is aimed at cost-conscious, technically capable users seeking conventional infrastructure. AWS suits scalable mainstream production systems with broad tooling, while DigitalOcean offers developer-focused VPS deployment. These providers may not meet a requirement for offshore or high-risk positioning. Check each provider’s current capabilities and terms directly: comparable alternative pricing is not established here.
How to reduce risk before buying
- Start small. Choose the smallest plan that can test your actual workload; use a staging site or non-critical domain rather than moving production immediately.
- Confirm delivery in writing. Ask for expected provisioning time, what happens if a server is delayed or unavailable, and how to request a cancellation or refund.
- Test support before deployment. Ask specific questions about your application, DDoS limits, escalation path, and response expectations. Keep copies of answers and support tickets.
- Read the operational rules. Review acceptable-use, abuse-report, suspension, data-retention, and service-cancellation terms. Ask what notice is normally given if a service is suspended.
- Verify the network fit. Test latency from your target markets, check IP reputation, and confirm how mitigation is routed and what traffic or attack limits apply to your chosen service.
- Prove recovery works. Keep backups outside Koddos and test restoring them. Use monitoring and maintain a migration plan; a backup that has never been restored is not a complete recovery plan.
- Avoid a long prepayment at first. Wait until provisioning, support, and service behavior meet your needs before committing to a longer billing term.
Offshore hosting and DDoS protection are not legal or security guarantees
“Offshore” describes a hosting location or positioning; it does not make unlawful content lawful, prevent seizure or takedown, or guarantee anonymity. A marketing claim about ignoring DMCA notices is not immunity from law, contract terms, upstream-provider action, or other enforcement. Likewise, privacy-oriented payment claims do not establish a formal no-logs policy or explain how data is handled.
DDoS protection addresses a particular class of availability attack. It is not a complete security program and cannot guarantee protection from application-layer attacks, compromised credentials, malware, data destruction, or misconfiguration. Ask Koddos for the exact mitigation scope and limits for your service, and pair any hosting choice with secure application practices, patching, rate limiting, monitoring, tested backups, and—if uptime matters—an independent fallback.
