The round was intended to fund expansion and hiring. It is distinct from Kandji’s later $100 million financing in July 2024, which had a different structure and brought the company’s reported valuation to $850 million.
What Kandji announced in November 2021
Kandji announced the Series C on November 18, 2021. Tiger Global led the $100 million round. Other participating investors named in coverage were Definition, Frontline Ventures, First Round Capital, Greycroft, Felicis Ventures, The Spruce House Partnership, B Capital Group, SVB Capital and Okta Ventures. The reported valuation was $800 million, and Kandji said it had raised more than $188 million in total by that point. TechCrunch’s financing coverage and VentureBeat’s announcement report describe the deal.
The proceeds were meant to support company expansion and hiring. At the time, reporting said Kandji had grown from about 40 employees at the start of 2021 to more than 250 by November and aimed to reach about 400 the following year. Kandji had opened a London office, and about 25% of its revenue was reported to come from international markets. These were figures reported in 2021, not current company metrics.
What Kandji’s software does
Kandji sells Apple-focused mobile-device and endpoint management software for organizations. IT teams use this kind of platform to enroll company devices, apply settings, distribute software, enforce configuration and compliance rules, and administer devices remotely. Kandji’s 2021 product description emphasized automation across Mac, iPhone and iPad fleets.

The service sits above Apple’s management and enrollment frameworks; it does not replace them. Apple provides the underlying mechanisms, while a management platform gives administrators a central place to configure devices, assign policies, automate routine work and review fleet information.
- Automation and applications: Kandji described approximately 150 pre-built automations and an Auto Apps catalog that included applications such as 1Password, Box, Zoom, Slack and GitHub.
- Updates: Administrators could use automated or controlled application patching to manage software updates across devices.
- Connections to other tools: Reported integrations included Okta, Oomnitza, Slack and Vanta, alongside an API for connecting Kandji with other systems.
MDM configuration and compliance controls are not automatically equivalent to endpoint detection and response, managed detection and response, identity management or a broader security program. Buyers should verify which security functions are included in a particular product package and which require separate tools.

Why investors saw an opportunity
Organizations adopting more Apple hardware needed ways to deploy and maintain devices without relying on in-person IT setup. Remote and hybrid work sharpened that need: teams wanted devices configured consistently, applications delivered remotely, and security policies enforced even when employees were outside the office. Apple-centric fleets also require administrators to understand Apple-specific enrollment and management workflows.
The category was not new or uncontested. Jamf was already an established Apple-management vendor, and broader endpoint-management products competed for organizations with mixed operating systems. Kandji’s pitch was specialization: a cloud-delivered Apple-first platform combining device administration, application management and automation. That positioning addressed a real operational need, but it did not by itself establish that Kandji was superior to alternatives or that every business needed a dedicated Apple platform.

What Kandji reported about its growth
In 2021 coverage, Kandji reported roughly 1,000 business customers across 40 industries and revenue growth of more than 700% year over year in the year preceding the announcement. The customer and revenue figures were company-reported, not independently audited figures in the cited coverage. They indicate the scale and growth the company presented to investors, but they do not disclose profitability, cash flow, customer retention or revenue per customer. What the $800 million valuation does—and does not—mean
TechCrunch described the $800 million valuation as roughly 10 times Kandji’s reported valuation at its Series A the previous year. The company had raised a $21 million Series A in October 2020 and a $60 million Series B in April 2021, according to the same coverage. The comparison concerns private financing valuations—not a tenfold increase in revenue, an operating-performance measure or a guaranteed value shareholders could realize.

A private valuation is a negotiated financing benchmark, not a public-market price or proof of profitability. The rapid step-up also came during the unusually expansive venture-funding environment of 2021. Without public financial statements, the round size and valuation alone do not show how efficiently the business used capital or what its shares would be worth in a sale.

- Device mix: Kandji’s Apple-first focus may suit a Mac- and iPhone-heavy fleet. Companies with substantial Windows or Android environments should assess whether they need a broader unified endpoint management platform or a layered setup.
- Enrollment and ownership: Verify support for Apple Business Manager and Automated Device Enrollment, personally owned devices, user enrollment, and devices acquired outside approved purchasing channels.
- Identity and access: Test the organization’s identity provider, SSO, account provisioning and conditional-access workflows rather than assuming integrations cover every policy need.
- Security scope: Separate MDM configuration enforcement from endpoint detection, vulnerability management, threat detection and managed response. Confirm which capabilities are included in the quoted package.
- Application operations: Test the app catalog, custom package support, patch timing, update enforcement, rollback and how the platform handles conflicting software versions.
- Administration and audit: Check policy assignment, device groups, inventory accuracy, compliance reporting, API access, webhooks and audit trails using representative devices and workflows.
- Migration and support: Account for profile conversion, enrollment changes, certificates, redeploying applications, user communication and rollback planning. Compare onboarding, escalation, support hours and professional services.
- Contract terms: Request the full renewal schedule and clarify minimum commitments, implementation charges, security add-ons and how inactive or replacement devices are billed.

The separate $100 million financing in 2024
Kandji raised another $100 million in July 2024, led by General Catalyst. That transaction was reported as $50 million in Series D equity and $50 million in go-to-market investment, rather than a single $100 million equity round. The company’s reported valuation after the financing was $850 million. Kandji’s release distributed through GlobeNewswire details the structure, while General Catalyst’s investment announcement reports the valuation.
In 2024, the company also reported nearly fourfold customer growth and more than 600% ARR growth since 2021. These are company-reported comparisons, not audited figures in the cited release. The later financing should not be merged with the 2021 Series C when describing the earlier round or its investors.
