Atlanta-based storage processor startup iVivity Inc. raised $26 million in Series C preferred-stock financing, according to an EE Times report published May 18, 2004. Grotech Capital Group and JK&B Capital led the round, which brought the company’s total funding to more than $50 million.
Who was iVivity?
iVivity Inc. was an Atlanta-based startup developing intelligent storage processor technology. Its technology was described as a “storage server on a chip,” positioning the company in the market for integrated storage-processing hardware rather than consumer storage accessories.

President and CEO David Coombs framed the round as a move from research and development toward delivering products and services to customers: “This financing marks a major milestone for iVivity as we transition our focus from research and development to delivering the products and services to our customers that will permit them to take full advantage of our revolutionary iDiSX technology.”

What were iDiSX and “storage server on a chip”?
iDiSX was the name iVivity used for its storage technology. The company described its core capability as an intelligent storage processor; Mellon Ventures vice president Max Chee called it “storage server on a chip” technology. The available account does not identify a specific processor model, retail product, price, or consumer sales channel, so it does not support treating iDiSX as a product a consumer could buy.
