Italy’s CONSOB Issues a Warning Against Market GBP

CONSOB’s verified 2017 notice named Blonde Bear OU, Blue Seal Limited and mib700.net—not MarketGBP. MarketGBP was separately listed as unauthorised by the FCA and Spain’s CNMV in 2019.

The available official record does not support the claim that Italy’s CONSOB issued a warning against MarketGBP or marketgbp.com. CONSOB’s November 20, 2017 notice named Blonde Bear OU and Blue Seal Limited, and referred to mib700.net.

MarketGBP was separately listed as an unauthorised firm by the UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) in January 2019. Spain’s CNMV issued a similar warning in May 2019, and the Netherlands’ AFM later recorded the foreign-regulator warning.

What CONSOB actually said

CONSOB’s published bulletin dated November 20, 2017 stated that Blue Seal Limited and Blonde Bear OU were not authorised to provide investment services or activities in Italy “in any manner.” The notice included the website mib700.net.

The document located does not mention the name MarketGBP, the domain marketgbp.com, or a specific CONSOB action against that brand. It would therefore be inaccurate to say that CONSOB banned MarketGBP or directly warned against marketgbp.com.

MarketGBP’s verified regulatory history

Date Regulator What the record shows
November 20, 2017 CONSOB, Italy Named Blue Seal Limited and Blonde Bear OU as unauthorised to provide investment services in Italy, including through mib700.net.
January 16, 2019 FCA, United Kingdom Listed MarketGBP as an unauthorised firm targeting UK consumers.
May 20, 2019 CNMV, Spain Listed WWW.MARKETGBP.COM among entities not authorised to provide investment services.
May 24, 2019 AFM, Netherlands Published a foreign-regulator warning entry for marketgbp.com, linking to the CNMV record.

What the FCA warning identifies

The FCA warning for MarketGBP identifies the firm as an unauthorised business that appeared to be targeting people in the UK. The record lists:

  • Website: www.marketgbp.com
  • Address: Laeva tn2, Tallinn City, Harju County, Estonia, 1011
  • Telephone numbers: 2031503014 and 2037690290
  • Mobile number: 2037691925
  • Several email addresses associated with the firm

The FCA warned that customers dealing with an unauthorised firm would not generally have access to the Financial Ombudsman Service or Financial Services Compensation Scheme protection in the circumstances described by the warning. The regulator also noted that unauthorised firms can change names, contact details, addresses and email addresses.

What Spain’s CNMV added

Spain’s CNMV warning record lists WWW.MARKETGBP.COM as an entity not authorised to provide investment services.

The CNMV made an additional clarification: marketgbp.com had no relationship with Safecap Investments Limited or the legitimate markets.com website. The two domains should not be treated as the same business. A similar name is not evidence that one trading platform is connected to another.

Why the Blonde Bear OU connection needs caution

Some third-party broker-warning websites connect MarketGBP with Blonde Bear OU. However, the official CONSOB document located names Blonde Bear OU in connection with mib700.net, not marketgbp.com.

The FCA’s MarketGBP warning identifies the brand, website and contact details but does not state that MarketGBP was operated by Blonde Bear OU. That connection should not be presented as an established CONSOB finding unless an official regulator document naming both entities is produced.

What this means for someone contacted by MarketGBP

The FCA and CNMV records provide a strong reason not to send money or personal documents to the website or to anyone claiming to represent it. An alert does not prove that every person contacted by the firm lost money, but it does mean the firm did not hold the relevant authorisation recorded by those regulators.

  1. Do not deposit more money. Ignore requests for “tax,” “verification,” “release,” or “withdrawal” fees. Paying another charge rarely resolves the underlying problem.
  2. Stop remote access. If the firm asked you to install AnyDesk, TeamViewer or similar software, disconnect the session, uninstall the application and change important passwords from a clean device.
  3. Contact your bank or card provider immediately. Ask whether a transfer can be recalled or whether card payments can be disputed. Speed matters, particularly for bank transfers.
  4. Preserve evidence. Save account statements, wallet addresses, emails, chat logs, telephone numbers, screenshots and the exact web address. Do not edit original files.
  5. Report the incident. Contact your national police or financial-crime reporting service and the relevant financial regulator. If you are in the UK, the FCA’s consumer guidance and Action Fraud may be relevant.
  6. Be wary of recovery scammers. Fraudsters often target previous victims by promising to recover funds for an upfront payment or cryptocurrency transfer.

How to interpret the headline

The defensible version of the story is narrower than the headline “Italy’s CONSOB Issues a Warning Against Market GBP.” CONSOB warned in 2017 about Blonde Bear OU and Blue Seal Limited, including the website mib700.net. MarketGBP itself was later identified by the FCA and CNMV as an unauthorised firm, with the AFM retaining a related foreign-regulator warning in its archive.

The dates also matter. The relevant regulatory actions were recorded in 2017 and 2019, not 2023. A 2023 date found on a third-party article may be an update date rather than the date of an original regulatory warning.

Sources and status

The FCA warning remains available in its warning archive, the CNMV search record continues to list marketgbp.com, and the AFM retains its May 24, 2019 entry. These are archival records. Their continued availability does not establish whether marketgbp.com is currently operating.

No. Spain’s CNMV expressly stated that marketgbp.com had no relationship with Safecap Investments Limited or the legitimate markets.com website.

The Bottom Line

MarketGBP was separately listed as unauthorised by the FCA and CNMV in 2019, while the AFM recorded the CNMV warning. Do not confuse marketgbp.com with the legitimate markets.com website, and do not send money or additional fees to the firm or alleged recovery agents.
