ISC2 announced an online career fair for June 20, 2024, giving employers a way to present openings and speak with cybersecurity job seekers in one virtual setting. The event date has passed; the announcement does not establish a current registration opportunity or a recurring schedule.
What employers could do at the ISC2 career fair
The fair was scheduled for June 20, 2024, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Eastern Time. ISC2 described it as an inaugural event bringing cybersecurity professionals together with hiring managers from public- and private-sector organizations. Dark Reading reproduced ISC2’s June 4, 2024 announcement.
Employers could use virtual booths to share information about roles, company culture, and benefits. Recruiters could communicate with candidates by text, audio, or video. Candidates could share resumes, education histories, and job interests, allowing employers to encounter people who had presented those materials in the same online event.
Those features offered a route to initial contact; they do not establish that the fair guaranteed interviews, job offers, or hires. ISC2 CEO Clar Rosso said the aim was to make hiring easier by bringing cyber talent together in one place. That was the organizer’s stated purpose, not a reported hiring outcome.

How the fair fits into cybersecurity hiring
ISC2’s April 17, 2026 analysis describes several channels used by cybersecurity professionals and hiring managers. Employee referrals were the most popular channel on both sides, though the analysis excerpt does not give a percentage. LinkedIn was named by 49% of professionals and 40% of hiring managers; recruiters were cited by 34% of professionals, while 40% of hiring managers reported using dedicated recruiters; general job boards were cited by 32% of professionals and 28% of hiring managers. These are survey findings about channel use, not a guarantee that any one route will work for a particular employer or candidate. ISC2’s analysis places an online fair among possible ways to make contact, alongside referrals, LinkedIn, recruiters, and job boards—not as a replacement for them.
What the 2024 announcement said about demand
To explain the event’s purpose, ISC2’s 2024 announcement cited a cybersecurity workforce gap of 4 million professionals and a CyberSeek count of more than 66,000 openings requesting CISSP. Those are figures attributed in the 2024 announcement, not current counts. The release also said that half of registered job seekers had an active ISC2 certification; that statement was attributed to CEO Clar Rosso in 2024. None of these figures demonstrates how many attendees were hired through the fair.

The June 2024 fair announcement is historical, so employers should not treat it as an open event or assume ISC2 runs it on a recurring basis. For other ways to connect with cybersecurity candidates, the 2026 ISC2 analysis provides context on referrals, LinkedIn, recruiters, and general job boards, but does not compare their costs or hiring effectiveness.
ISC2 separately lists webinars, career guidance, chapters, and community resources on its entry-level cybersecurity page. Its Candidate page describes career resources, study support, community, and event benefits. These are resources for aspiring professionals and candidates; they do not establish that employers receive access to those members as a recruiting pool.
