No. U.S. stock exchanges NYSE and Nasdaq will be closed on Good Friday, Friday, April 3, 2026. But that does not mean every related market or service will be shut: government-securities trading, Federal Reserve services and futures have separate schedules.

Are NYSE and Nasdaq open on Good Friday 2026?

No. The NYSE lists Friday, April 3, 2026, as a U.S. market holiday, and Nasdaq’s 2026 U.S. Equity and Options Markets Holiday Schedule marks Good Friday as “Closed.” That means exchange-listed U.S. stocks and Nasdaq-listed options do not have a regular trading session that day.

These calendars apply to the U.S. venues named; they do not establish whether exchanges in other countries are open. The NYSE’s ordinary core equity session is 9:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. ET, but those regular hours do not apply on a listed holiday.

What else is open or operating differently?

U.S. government securities

Government-securities trading does not follow a simple all-open or all-closed rule. In a statement dated March 12, 2026, the Federal Reserve Bank of New York said SIFMA was “not recommending a full closure for secondary market trading of U.S. government securities for Good Friday” because U.S. employment data would be released that day. The same statement said fixed-income and repo market participants were broadly expected to observe the holiday. This describes a recommendation and expected market practice, not a guarantee that every participant or transaction will be available.

New York Fed operations and Fedwire Securities

The New York Fed said its Open Market Trading Desk did not intend to conduct operations on April 3, while Fedwire Securities Service was scheduled to operate during regular hours. These are distinct functions: the Desk’s planned lack of operations does not mean Fedwire Securities is closed.

Futures

Futures hours depend on the exchange and contract. ICE Futures U.S.’s Good Friday schedule lists some commodity contracts as closed, while certain stock and bond index, currency, mortgage, SOFR and digital-asset contract groups have late opens or early closes. That schedule is specific to ICE Futures U.S.; check the relevant exchange’s calendar and the exact contract rather than assuming all futures are closed or trading normally.

How to check a specific market or service

  1. Identify the venue or service. A U.S. stock exchange, government-securities market, Fedwire service and futures exchange can have different holiday arrangements.
  2. Match the instrument or contract. For futures in particular, consult the schedule for the exact product, not just the exchange’s general holiday notice.
  3. Confirm the date and year. Good Friday falls on April 3 in the cited 2026 calendars. Do not carry that date or the schedules forward to another year.
  4. Read the type of schedule notice. Distinguish a full closure from a late open, early close, normal service hours or a recommendation about market practice.

The cited schedules do not establish hours for bank branches, post offices, broker customer service, payment networks or international exchanges. Check each provider’s own holiday notice for those details.
