No. As of October 4, 2026, the Federal Reserve has no rate decision scheduled for today. The next listed Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting is October 27–28, with a press conference scheduled for October 28. The latest decision, on September 16, raised the federal funds target range to 3-3/4 to 4 percent.
When is the next Fed rate decision?
The FOMC is scheduled to meet October 27–28, 2026. The Federal Reserve calendar lists the press conference for October 28. The meeting date is not a decision announcement in advance: the Committee’s October outcome is not yet known. See the Federal Reserve’s October 2026 calendar and FOMC meeting calendar.
The October meeting is not marked on the published calendar as one associated with a Summary of Economic Projections. Do not assume it will bring a fresh set of projections or a dot plot.
What was the latest Fed decision?
On September 16, 2026, the FOMC raised its federal funds target range by a quarter of a percentage point, to 3-3/4 to 4 percent. In its statement, the Committee said economic activity was expanding at a solid pace and that “inflation remains elevated.” Those are the Committee’s assessments, not a guarantee of what it will decide next. What should you watch in the October announcement?
The target range
Start with the range the Committee actually announces, then compare it with the prior range of 3-3/4 to 4 percent. Do not assume in advance that the Fed will cut, hold, or raise rates.
The statement’s assessment
Compare how the FOMC describes economic activity and inflation with its September wording. A change in language shows a change in the Committee’s official assessment; by itself, it does not prove a particular future rate path.

The chair’s press conference
The press conference is scheduled for October 28. Treat the chair’s comments as context about the decision and risks, not as a binding promise about the next move. The formal target-range decision and the later press conference are separate things to follow.
Minutes and the next layer of detail
The Federal Reserve says minutes from regularly scheduled meetings are released three weeks after the policy decision. Minutes for the September meeting are listed for October 7, 2026. They can provide additional detail on the discussion behind that decision; they are not an October rate decision. The Fed describes its schedule and minutes timing on its FOMC meeting calendar and monetary policy page.

What the announcement can—and cannot—tell you
The target range is the clearest policy outcome to check. The statement and press conference add the Committee’s explanation and discussion of risks, but none makes the next rate move certain. As of October 4, neither the October decision nor the market’s response to it is established. Avoid treating a predicted market reaction as a known result.
The FOMC holds eight regularly scheduled meetings each year and can also meet as needed. The calendar is therefore useful for knowing when a decision is scheduled, but the October meeting’s result must wait until the Committee announces it.
