It reached a reported $799.99 low in the United States, but that price is historical—not a guarantee of what you’ll pay today. HotHardware reported that Amazon offered the 55-inch LG OLED55B5PUA for $799.99 on April 12, 2026, calling it an all-time low that the TV had matched only once before. A later Best Buy promotion reportedly reached the same price, while a September roundup listed it at $899. Before buying, check the live listing and checkout total: the B5 is a 2025 model, and stock and promotions can change.
What does “lowest price ever” mean for this LG B5 deal?
The claim refers to a reported U.S. sale price, not a permanent price or a verified live offer. HotHardware reported Amazon’s $799.99 price on April 12, 2026, alongside a $899.99 Best Buy price. TechRadar later reported a $799.99 Best Buy Memorial Day price; by September 2026, Tom’s Guide listed the 55-inch model at $899. The figures describe different reported offers at different times, so they do not establish today’s price or whether a promotion is still active.
Before treating $799.99 as an available deal, confirm the seller, exact model, stock, shipping, taxes, and promotion end time at checkout. HotHardware’s price report is here; the later coverage is from TechRadar and Tom’s Guide.
What is the 55-inch LG B5?
The U.S. model is LG OLED55B5PUA, a 2025 55-inch 4K OLED smart TV. LG lists its Alpha 8 AI Processor Gen2, more than 8.3 million self-lit pixels, Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos, FILMMAKER MODE, NVIDIA G-Sync, and a 120Hz refresh rate. LG Canada specifies the resolution as 3,840 × 2,160. HotHardware identifies the panel as WOLED and reports four HDMI 2.1 inputs. See LG’s U.S. product page and Canadian product page.

Is the B5 a good buy for movies and gaming?
For movies and TV
OLED pixels emit their own light, giving the B5 the contrast that makes dark scenes and cinematic viewing a strong use case. Dolby Vision adds HDR-format support, while FILMMAKER MODE is intended for a viewing presentation closer to the filmmaker’s choices. Dolby Atmos is also supported. These are useful features, but they do not by themselves establish how bright the TV will appear in a particular room.
For PS5, Xbox, and PC
The 120Hz refresh rate, HDMI 2.1 connectivity, and NVIDIA G-Sync make the B5 relevant to current consoles and compatible gaming PCs. HotHardware describes it as supporting 4K gaming at 120Hz. That combination can deliver smooth high-frame-rate play when the game, console or PC, and connection support it; it does not mean every game runs at 4K and 120 frames per second. Check the source device’s output settings and the game’s capabilities.

Should you buy now or wait?
Compare the live price with the documented deal history, rather than relying on “lowest ever” in a headline. The strongest U.S. reference point in the cited coverage is $799.99; September 2026 coverage listed $899. If you see the lower figure from a retailer you trust and the set suits your room, it is a historically compelling price based on those reports. If the offer is near $899, consider whether waiting for another promotion is worth the risk of reduced availability.
The B5 is a 2025 model, and later coverage notes low stock as newer B6 sets replace it. That makes availability a factor, not proof that a particular listing is the last chance or that a deal will improve. The cited reporting does not establish a future sale date or a guaranteed restock.

When is a different TV a better fit?
The B5’s appeal is OLED contrast and gaming features at a lower price than higher LG tiers. Its trade-off is brightness: HotHardware cautions that exceptionally bright rooms may call for a brighter, more expensive OLED or a mini-LED TV. If daytime glare and a sunlit viewing area are your main concerns, compare brightness-focused alternatives before choosing based on discount alone. If you mostly watch in controlled lighting and want OLED movie performance plus modern gaming connectivity, the B5’s feature mix is more compelling.

No single price history should be applied across countries. PriceRoo recorded an Australian tracked low of A$1,494 on August 7, 2026, monitoring two retailers. That is a separate market and currency, not a conversion of the U.S. deal. Regional model suffixes can differ, so verify the local SKU, tuner, warranty, and retailer before comparing offers.
