No—Logitech has said it has no plans for a subscription mouse. CEO Hanneke Faber did entertain the possibility when asked about a hypothetical “forever mouse” in a 2024 interview. The idea was not an announced product, and Faber later said subscription was not an actual plan.

Is Logitech making a subscription mouse?

There is no announced Logitech subscription mouse. In August 2024, Logitech communications head Nicole Kenyon told media publications, “There are no plans for a subscription mouse.” She also described the mouse discussed in the interview as “not an actual or planned product,” but an exploration of ideas for more sustainable consumer electronics, as reported by MacRumors.

That distinction matters: a company executive discussing a possibility is not the same as Logitech announcing a product, subscription terms, or a launch. The cited coverage does not identify a purchasable model, price, service plan, or release date.

What did the CEO say about a “forever mouse”?

In a 2024 interview with Decoder, Logitech CEO Hanneke Faber discussed a mouse intended to last for many years and stay current through software or services. When interviewer Nilay Patel asked directly whether she could envision a mouse subscription, Faber answered, “Possibly.” Patel later posted the exchange in a transcript excerpt.

Logitech M510 Full Size Ambidextrous 2.4 GHz Wireless Mouse
  • Your hand can relax in comfort hour after hour with this ergonomically designed mouse. Its contoured shape with soft rubber grips, gently curved sides and broad palm area give you the support you need for effortless control all day long.
  • You’ve got the control to do more, faster. Flipping through photo albums and Web pages is a breeze, especially for right-handers—with three standard buttons plus Back/Forward buttons that you can also program to switch applications, go full screen and more. And side-to-side scrolling plus zoom gives you the power to scroll horizontally and vertically through your music library, maps and Facebook feeds, and zoom in and out of photos and budget spreadsheets with a click.* * Requires Logitech SetPoint software (Windows) or Logitech Control Center software (Mac OS X)
  • Two years of battery life practically eliminates the need to replace batteries. ** The On/Off switch helps conserve power, smart sleep mode extends battery life and an indicator light eliminates surprises. ** Battery life may vary based on user and computing conditions.
  • The tiny Logitech Unifying receiver stays in your laptop. There’s no need to unplug it when you move around, so there’s less worry of it being lost. And you can easily add compatible wireless mice and keyboards to the same wireless receiver.

That answer explains why the subscription question arose, but it does not establish that Logitech had decided to build or sell such a mouse. Kenyon’s clarification that there were no plans followed the interview.

How did Faber later describe the idea?

In a 2025 interview with Fortune, Faber said the idea “was not very well received by the Reddit community” and added, “I didn’t really mean a forever mouse.” She said the point she wanted to emphasize was durability, alongside repairability and refurbishment.

Faber said Logitech had been investing in replaceable parts and working with iFixit to make mouse repairs easier. She described the aim as allowing a mouse that stops working after years of use to be fixed and given “another new life.” That statement describes her sustainability priorities; it does not establish which parts or repair services are currently available for any particular model.

In a separate 2025 interview with Fast Company, Faber said, “I never used the word subscription. And it’s not an actual plan.” That is her later characterization. It sits alongside, rather than erases, the earlier Decoder exchange, in which she was asked about a subscription mouse and answered “Possibly.”

What this means if you want a Logitech mouse

Logitech sells physical computer mice, but the sources cited here do not describe any current model as the proposed subscription device. If you are considering a mouse purchase, compare actual models and their published features rather than treating the hypothetical “forever mouse” as an available offer. If repairability is important, check the manufacturer’s current model-specific parts and service information before relying on a repair option.
