In a sponsored Insurance Age article published on 2 October 2026, Chris Brian, identified as Intact’s director of commercial lines sales, described how the insurer wants to make it easier for brokers to place business and identify opportunities for clients. The piece is promotional, not an independent assessment of Intact’s products or service outcomes.
Two routes for different commercial insurance needs
Intact presents digital trading and specialist underwriting as complementary routes, rather than one route intended for every client. Its stated aim is to give brokers clear ways to place business across different company sizes, sectors and levels of risk complexity.
| Route | Intended use | What the article says |
|---|---|---|
| Digitally traded SME solutions | Small and medium-sized business risks suited to an eTraded route | Intact describes this route as supporting speed and efficiency. The article does not specify eligibility rules, products, turnaround times or service-level targets. |
| Regional underwriting expertise | More complex or specialist risks that need underwriting input | Intact says brokers can access regional underwriting expertise. The article does not detail referral criteria, decision times or underwriting authority. |
The coverage areas named in the article include property, construction, manufacturing, motor, marine, retail, hospitality, professional services, agriculture and the public sector. The list indicates the breadth of sectors Intact says it serves; it is not a guarantee that every risk in those sectors is acceptable or available through every trading route. Insurance Age’s sponsored article does not identify all eligible products or underwriting conditions.
Support beyond placing the policy
Intact also points brokers to Risk Assist, Broker Portal and Claims Charter. It positions these services as support before, during and after disruption, covering risk prevention, preparation and recovery. The sponsored article describes the offer but provides no independent outcome data, service measurements or detail sufficient to compare these services with alternatives.
For brokers, the practical question is how each service works for a particular client and policy: what Risk Assist includes, which portal functions are available, and what commitments the Claims Charter makes. Those specifics are not set out in the article and should be confirmed directly with Intact.
What brokers can discuss at Broker Expo 2026
The article presents Broker Expo 2026 as an opportunity to speak with Intact’s specialists and decision-makers about eTraded products, underwriting support and possible client opportunities. Intact says some eTraded products hold Five Star Defaqto ratings, but the article does not name those products or provide rating documentation. The claim should not be read as applying to every eTraded product Intact offers.
Brian’s article says: “The broker market continues to evolve, and listening to brokers remains central to how we develop our proposition and service offering.” This is the position attributed to Intact in its sponsored article, not a separately reported interview transcript. Event timing and availability can change; brokers should confirm current details with the organisers or Intact before planning attendance.
Delegated schemes are a separate partnership route
For brokers serving a defined specialist customer group, delegated schemes are different from placing an individual commercial policy through a digital or regional underwriting route. Intact’s delegated schemes page describes solutions co-created and underwritten with broker partners for groups whose needs do not fit standard products.
#1 Best Overall
Examples on the page include property and real estate, motor trade, trades, construction and engineering, and professional and financial services. Intact describes a UK broker fit as relevant and cites a scheme generating more than £2 million GWP as one of its selection signals. That is a company-stated signal, not a universal minimum or a complete statement of eligibility criteria.
