Independent checks: OutageStats reported no current failures for icicidirect.com, while UpdownRadar last showed an HTTP 200 response and “NO ISSUES” for secure.icicidirect.com. Those pages were crawled weeks earlier, so they cannot establish live service on 16 August or today: OutageStats and UpdownRadar.
A public homepage can work while the authenticated trading system, market data or order gateway is unavailable. Conversely, a device, browser, ISP, DNS or account problem can affect one customer while others trade normally.
What a “down” report may actually mean

- Both the app and website fail, and the failures include more than login.
- Order placement, modification or square-off fails independently of portfolio viewing.
- A verified ICICI Direct support channel publishes a dated incident update.
- The problem later recovers across multiple access methods.
A single complaint, an old outage page, a low app-store rating or a generic support reply does not prove a coordinated outage. App-store reviews mention login errors, long loading, nominee prompts and post-update interface or chart problems, but they are individual reports rather than proof of a same-day incident: Google Play listing.

- Open the order book and trade book, then check positions and holdings. A timeout or error does not prove that an order was rejected.
- Record the scrip or contract, side, quantity, price, order type, time in IST and any order number.
- Save screenshots or a screen recording of the error and note whether you were on Wi-Fi or mobile data.
- Try the official website if the app failed, or the app if the website failed.
- Submit a new order only after confirming that the original is absent or explicitly rejected.
- For an unresolved execution or square-off issue, contact ICICI Direct immediately and retain the call reference, email headers and later order records.
Official troubleshooting for the app and website
Connection and app checks
- Switch between Wi-Fi and mobile data.
- Fully close and reopen the app, then restart the phone or computer.
- Install the latest app and operating-system updates.
- On Android, clear the app cache. On iOS, reinstalling the app may be the relevant equivalent.
Browser checks
- Use a current supported browser.
- Clear browser cache and cookies, close unnecessary tabs and temporarily disable extensions.
- Test the secure login page from another device or network without sharing credentials.
Login-specific checks
From the login screen, use Forgot User ID?, Forgot password? or Unlock Account when appropriate. ICICI Direct advises trying the website if app access remains unsuccessful: login FAQ.
If an intraday position cannot be squared off
Do not assume a rejected, delayed or timed-out square-off order did not execute. Check positions and the order book through the alternate official channel, document every attempt and contact support while the position remains open. Preserve evidence rather than promising yourself compensation; any later complaint depends on precise records.

ICICI Direct’s login-help FAQ lists Call N Trade: 022 4133 0660 and customer care at 1860 123 1122 and 022 3355 1122. It also directs unresolved users to [email protected] on its troubleshooting pages. Recheck the live official contact information before calling because numbers and channels can change.
Keep an evidence file if money or execution is affected
- IST timestamps, screenshots and screen recordings.
- Order numbers, contract or scrip details and quantities.
- Error text, device, app or browser version and network used.
- Call logs, ticket numbers and email headers.
- Order-book, trade-book and position records after service restoration.
A historical consumer-dispute record refers to ICICI Securities acknowledging portal downtime on 17 May 2024 from 9:15 a.m. to 10:30 a.m.; that case shows why timestamps matter, but it does not establish the cause or outcome of the August 2026 reports: case record.

Do not confuse ICICI Direct with ICICI Bank
ICICI Direct is the brokerage platform operated by ICICI Securities. ICICI Bank or iMobile problems can disrupt transfers, OTPs or linked-account functions without taking down the trading platform. Conversely, a brokerage outage does not establish a bank outage. Keep the two service-status checks separate; a bank status page is context only: ICICI Bank status reports.

What not to do during an access problem
- Do not repeatedly submit the same buy, sell, modify or square-off order.
- Do not share passwords, PINs, OTPs, PAN, Aadhaar or account screenshots with people offering help.
- Do not install an APK or remote-access tool sent through social media.
- Use only support details on an official ICICI Direct page, not numbers in advertisements or comments.
- Do not treat an unverified social-media post, VPN result or DNS change as proof of an outage.
Historical context, not an explanation of this event
In 2021, ICICI Direct reportedly attributed intermittent website and app access problems to system upgradation. That historical report does not explain any 2026 incident: Moneylife report.
Considering a backup broker?
A second account is not an instant substitute: opening it can require KYC, separate funding and demat workflows, and different charges and order types. Compare official pricing, AMC, exchange access, support and app availability before acting. Potential alternatives include Zerodha, Groww, Upstox and Angel One; no superior reliability claim is established here.

As of the dated check, widespread ICICI Direct downtime was unconfirmed. Treat an order error as potentially executed, verify the order book and positions, test the alternate official access route, and contact ICICI Direct with timestamped evidence before retrying.
