Find the award you want and confirm its points price before transferring: American Express says partner transfers are final and cannot be converted back. This guide covers U.S. accounts; Aeromexico’s transfer terms differ in Mexico.
Check the Aeromexico award before transferring
Search Aeromexico Rewards for your intended flight and note both its availability and the points required. American Express recommends checking the points needed before moving Membership Rewards points. Award availability and redemption requirements can change, so base your decision on the specific itinerary you can book rather than an assumed value for each point.
To decide whether the transfer makes sense, compare the award’s points price and any fees with the cash fare and with other ways you could use your Membership Rewards points. There is no universal cents-per-point value established for these redemptions.
How to transfer Amex points to Aeromexico
- Sign in to your U.S. American Express account. Open the Membership Rewards transfer interface and select Aeromexico Rewards. Which transfer options appear can depend on your eligible Membership Rewards product. American Express’s U.S. transfer-partner page lists the current partner and ratio.
- Connect an eligible Aeromexico Rewards account. Under U.S. Amex terms, the partner account must be in the Card Member’s name or an eligible Additional Card Member’s name. An Additional Card must have been issued at least 90 days before it is linked. Follow the eligibility requirements shown in your account.
- Enter the transfer amount and review the displayed terms. The U.S. page currently lists 1,000 Membership Rewards points for 1,600 Aeromexico Rewards points. Partner minimums and maximums may apply; check the limits shown in your account before submitting.
- Submit the transfer, then check Aeromexico Rewards. Confirm that the points have posted to the partner account before attempting to book. U.S. Amex sources do not publish an Aeromexico-specific transfer-time estimate, so do not assume the points will arrive instantly.
- Book the award through Aeromexico once the points arrive. Recheck availability and the points required before completing the booking.
What the Amex-to-Aeromexico transfer ratio means
At the currently displayed U.S. ratio, transferring 10,000 Membership Rewards points would yield 16,000 Aeromexico Rewards points, provided the account’s interface still shows that ratio and the transfer is accepted. The ratio is a conversion rate, not a guarantee that a particular flight will be available or that the resulting points will cover its full price.

#1 Best Overall
Amex states in its Membership Rewards terms that “Points you’ve transferred to a partner loyalty program account can’t be converted back into Membership Rewards points.” Treat the transfer as irreversible, and confirm the itinerary and account details before submitting it.
How long does an Amex transfer to Aeromexico take?
American Express’s U.S. pages reviewed do not state a specific posting time for transfers to Aeromexico Rewards. After submitting, check the Aeromexico Rewards balance and wait for the points to appear before booking; do not plan around an unverified instant-transfer assumption.

U.S. and Mexico accounts have different terms
Use the transfer interface for the country that issued your Membership Rewards account. Amex Mexico currently lists a different ratio and additional account rules; these do not apply to U.S.-issued accounts.
| Membership Rewards market | Listed transfer ratio | Other published details |
|---|---|---|
| United States | 1,000 Membership Rewards points = 1,600 Aeromexico Rewards points (American Express U.S., transfer page verified 2026) | Partner minimums and maximums depend on the partner; verify the limits in the account. No U.S.-specific Aeromexico posting-time estimate is stated in the reviewed U.S. sources. |
| Mexico | 100 Membership Rewards points = 115 Aeroméxico Rewards points (American Express Mexico, page verified 2026) | Amex Mexico lists a 1,000-point minimum, transfers in 100-point increments, an estimated posting time of one minute to two business days, and matching first and last names on the Amex and Aeroméxico accounts. These are Mexico-specific terms. |
Amex Mexico’s timing estimate and account requirements should not be used to predict what will happen with a U.S. account. Check your own country-specific interface for the current ratio, limits and any other requirements.

Why older Amex terms may say “Club Premier”
Aeromexico’s loyalty program was rebranded and transformed from Club Premier into Aeroméxico Rewards on April 10, 2023, according to Grupo Aeroméxico’s investor materials. Some older U.S. Amex terms use the former “Club Premier points” name, while the current U.S. transfer interface uses “Aeromexico Rewards.”

Transfer ratios, partner limits, timing and promotional offers can change. Review the terms displayed in your logged-in, country-specific Membership Rewards account immediately before submitting.
