If you want an auction instead, use GoDaddy Auctions: its bids can create binding commitments, and the seller-side listing options and fees depend on the auction format and current account terms.
Before publishing, decide whether you want a fixed Buy Now price or auction bidding, set any offer limits, check the commission shown for your setup, and complete your payee details. A listing does not guarantee a buyer or a particular sale price.
Choose between List for Sale and GoDaddy Auctions
List for Sale is GoDaddy’s Afternic-connected route for a fixed Buy Now price, with optional offer-related controls. GoDaddy says listings can appear across more than 100 partner sites worldwide and describes more than 75 million prospective buyers; those are GoDaddy’s marketplace reach figures, not a guarantee that a particular listing will be seen or sold. The listing can also use a For Sale landing page. GoDaddy’s List for Sale overview
GoDaddy Auctions is a separate marketplace route with multiple auction and listing types. GoDaddy says winning bids are binding and cannot be canceled. A seller’s offer is not automatically accepted: the seller can accept or counter, and the offer expires if not acted on within seven days. The available seller formats, eligibility, and fees are not established by the auction overview, so check the live terms for the particular format before listing. GoDaddy Auctions overview

List a domain for sale through Domain Portfolio
- Sign in to GoDaddy and open Domain Portfolio.
- Select the domain or domains. GoDaddy’s indexed instructions say a domain in a bundle cannot be listed through this flow.
- Choose List for Sale, then Get Started.
- Set the price. Enter your asking price or select Use Est. Value for GoValue’s estimate. Treat the estimate as a starting point, not a promised sale price or guaranteed appraisal.
- Choose whether to show a For Sale landing page. Replacing the current site may be an option; protected domains may require identity verification.
- Publish and finish the Afternic step. Create an Afternic account through the flow or sign in to an existing one.
- Complete the payee profile and check the listing. GoDaddy says submitted listings are reviewed within 48 hours before activation. This is a review window, not a sale-time estimate.
GoDaddy’s official listing steps are indexed in its help results, but the detailed instruction page did not load directly when checked. Labels and verification prompts may differ in the live account, so follow the current on-screen flow. GoDaddy’s List for Sale instructions

Afternic distinguishes three controls. Its help page describes the defaults and guidance below; they are platform settings, not independent valuation rules. Afternic pricing and List for Sale help

- Buy Now: The public fixed price shown on registrar and reseller sites. Afternic describes it as binding.
- Floor: A price buyers do not see. Afternic says its sales executive may negotiate down to this amount without asking you again. The floor is binding; Afternic recommends setting it 20%–30% below Buy Now.
- Minimum: The lowest offer a buyer can submit to start a conversation. Afternic says the default is 65% of the Buy price. It is nonbinding, and the seller is asked to respond within seven days.
Do not treat GoValue as a prediction of what a buyer will pay. As your own pricing judgment, compare relevant completed sales and consider the domain’s length, spelling, extension, commercial relevance, and likely buyer pool. A comparable sale is useful only to the extent that its circumstances and name are genuinely similar.
Understand commission, landing pages, and nameservers
Afternic’s current help page states a US$15 minimum commission, a 15% rate when a domain uses GoDaddy-brand aftermarket nameservers, and a 25% rate otherwise. It also states an additional 5% when Afternic Boost is active at the time of sale. GoDaddy connects its lander and nameserver setup with eligibility for the lower rate. These are the stated USD terms, not a guarantee of the rate that will apply to every listing or account; check the rate shown in your live account before publishing. GoDaddy presents different landers for different situations: Request Price for higher-value names where its sales team may follow up, Buy Now for a direct purchase route, Parking for domains with high organic traffic, and Custom for Lease-to-Own use. These are GoDaddy’s own recommendations, not independent evidence that one lander will sell better. A quoted gross price is not your net proceeds: commission is deducted, and payout methods or fees can vary by location.
Prepare for verification, delivery, and payout
Afternic says payment follows completed delivery, less commission. Payment options may include ACH, check, eCheck, PayPal, or wire transfer depending on the seller’s location; minimum earnings and payment fees may apply. Completing the payee profile helps avoid disbursement delays. Afternic payment and delivery information

For eligible Fast Transfer listings, transfer can happen automatically between seller and buyer accounts after the transfer-lock period ends. If a listing is not eligible, Afternic’s Transaction Assurance process provides delivery instructions. GoDaddy states that registrar transfer is restricted within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer, and where a customer elected a 60-day lock after a Change of Registrant. Do not promise a buyer a specific delivery date until the domain’s eligibility and status are clear. Afternic transfer information

GoDaddy says auction bids cannot be canceled and a winning bid is a binding contract. For a seller’s offer, you may accept or counter; if you take no action within seven days, it expires. For non-expired auction types, GoDaddy says domains typically move to the buyer’s account 1–15 days after the auction ends. Expired-domain auctions follow a separate delivery process, and renewal by the original registrant may make an expired domain unavailable. GoDaddy Auctions overview
