What happened with Walmart’s Switch 2 preorders
Nintendo announced that U.S. retail preorders would begin April 24, 2025. The company did not specify an opening hour for Walmart; Digital Trends reported at the time that Walmart orders were scheduled to open at midnight Eastern Time that day. The event is historical, not an upcoming preorder date.
Nintendo set the console’s U.S. launch date for June 5, 2025. Its April 18 announcement listed suggested launch prices of $449.99 for the standalone console and $499.99 for the Switch 2 + Mario Kart World bundle. Those are historical suggested prices, not current Walmart prices. Nintendo described the bundle as including the console and a download code for Mario Kart World.
