Use a short watchlist, set alerts only for levels or conditions that would prompt you to review the market, and send them to a channel you actually check. A price alert tells you that its trigger condition was met; it does not predict what happens next or tell you whether to buy or sell.
Build a watchlist around decisions you might actually make
Start with assets you hold or are deliberately monitoring, rather than adding every coin you encounter. For each one, ask what would make you stop and review current information. That might be a selected price threshold or, where supported, a technical condition. If no plausible follow-up action comes to mind, the alert is probably noise.
There is no universally useful percentage or price level. Choose conditions that fit your own monitoring plan; an alert is a notification, not a validated trading strategy.
Choose an alert service that fits your needs
Charting services and exchange apps offer different combinations of asset coverage, trigger types, delivery channels, and lifecycle controls. Check the provider’s current documentation for the assets and pairs you need, and verify any plan, regional, or app-version limits before relying on a feature.

These descriptions do not establish that the services cover the same assets or deliver notifications at the same speed. TradingView says its alerts can reduce the need to manually track market movements, but that is the provider’s description—not an independent measure of time saved.
Set up each alert so its purpose is clear
- Select the asset and condition. Confirm the exact coin or trading pair, then choose a price threshold or other supported condition that would prompt a review.
- Name it for future you. Include the asset, threshold or condition, and reason—for example, “ETH — review if below [your level] — reassess budget.” Use a message field if the service offers one.
- Choose how often it can trigger. Depending on the alert type and service, options may include firing once or repeating. Pick the behavior that matches the reason for the alert; repeated notifications can become distracting.
- Set an expiration where available. An alert meant for a temporary monitoring period should not remain active indefinitely. TradingView’s configuration guidance describes expiration controls, though options can vary by alert type and plan.
- Choose a delivery channel. Use push, email, desktop notification, or another channel the provider supports and you routinely check. A channel you ignore is not useful.
TradingView’s alert configuration guide describes alert names and messages, frequency choices, and expiration settings. Its options are not necessarily identical across every alert type or plan.

- BUILT FOR YOUR MARKET, FUTURES, STOCKS, FOREX, OPTIONS & CRYPTO: 4X is a mindset and process journal, not a strategy tool tied to one instrument. The plan, the trade log, the deep dive and the weekly review work the same whether you trade ES, EURUSD, SPY or BTC. Traders use it across all five markets every day.
- THE 2026 EDITION, REBUILT FROM TRADER FEEDBACK: Same trusted system, better in every way. An extra daily page for more room to log the session. Weekly reviews now grouped with each week's trades, so no more flipping back and forth. Crisp, darker print that's easy on the eyes after hours on a screen. A Quick-Start QR that scans straight to step-by-step instructions.
- NOT A NOTEBOOK, A COMPLETE 12-WEEK SYSTEM: Start with a one-time 9-part Trading Plan (your market, setups, risk rules and discipline checklist). Then twelve identical weeks: five Daily Logs, five Deep Dive trade pages, and a two-page Weekly Review. 189 guided pages, roughly 80 trades. Guided prompts walk you through every step. You never stare at a blank page.
- RATE YOUR EXECUTION, NOT YOUR RESULT: Your platform tracks the P&L. Nothing tracks the why. Log energy, sleep and mindset before the open; grade every trade A to F on whether you followed your plan, not on whether it won; then face the pattern every weekend with START / STOP / IMPROVE / CONTINUE. That review habit is the edge. You're 42% more likely to hit a goal you've written down.
- BUILT TO LAST, ARRIVES GIFT-READY: Vegan-leather hardcover, 100gsm bleed-resistant paper, two ribbon markers and an elastic closure band. Bound to lay flat so you're not fighting the spine while you write. 189 pages, 5.75" x 8.5", carries in a bag. Ships in a premium gift box: the gift every trader in your life actually wants.
Make phone push notifications work
Creating a push alert in an app is not enough if your phone blocks the notification. For TradingView, the provider’s guidance says to be logged into the app, allow notifications in the device’s settings, and enable app notification for the alert. Follow the service’s own instructions if you use another provider.
- Log into the relevant app on your phone.
- In the phone’s operating-system settings, allow notifications for that app.
- In the alert’s settings, enable the app or push notification channel.
- If the service provides a harmless test, use it to check delivery; otherwise, confirm the settings before relying on the next real trigger.
See TradingView’s phone-notification instructions. Notification permissions, account settings, alert expiry, and provider availability can all affect whether an alert reaches you. No source here establishes a guarantee that alerts are instant or never missed.

Keep the alert list useful
Set a recurring time to review your watchlist and active alerts. The right interval depends on how you use them; there is no universally correct review schedule.
- Remove alerts for assets you no longer hold or monitor.
- Revise thresholds when the reason for an alert changes.
- Delete duplicates and alerts whose purpose you cannot explain.
- Check that temporary alerts have not expired before a monitoring period ends—or remain active after it no longer matters.
Providers document controls such as editing, expiry, muting, and deleting alerts; the exact controls differ by service. Reviewing the list is a practical way to prevent stale or redundant notifications from obscuring the ones you care about.

Use an alert as a prompt, not an instruction
When a notification arrives, review current market information and your own plan before acting. A trigger only means the configured condition was met. It does not account for your circumstances or establish that a particular trade is appropriate. Although some services document automation-related features such as webhooks, the cited materials do not establish that alerts are suitable for automated execution.
