World Orb locations and appointment availability change, so there is no dependable permanent list of every active address. Check World’s official Orb locator or, for nearby listings and booking, open World App and tap Settings → Find an Orb. Use only a location listed in the app, and confirm its availability and appointment rules before traveling.
Quick answer: In World App, tap the gear icon for Settings, then Find an Orb. Allow location access to see nearby locations, addresses and availability. Select a listing to check its booking instructions. World’s public locator is a useful starting point, but the app is the key route for checking availability and managing appointments.
Why there is no permanent list of every Orb location
World changes locations and schedules, and a site can move, close or become fully booked. Its help guidance says availability depends in part on regional regulations and operational resources. A search result, map pin, social post or older directory entry does not confirm that a site is currently authorized or operating. Check the app shortly before making travel plans; even a current listing can change.
World’s official help article, updated February 9, 2026, says that if you skip location permission, you cannot manually enter a location in the app. Allowing location access is therefore the most direct way to find nearby results. You can also start at world.org/find-orb, but use World App to confirm live availability and booking details.

How to find and choose a location
- Open World App and tap the gear icon to go to Settings.
- Tap Find an Orb.
- Allow location access if prompted, then review the results and their addresses.
- Open a listing to check availability and whether it requires an appointment, a date selection or another site-specific step.
A nearby listing is not necessarily the nearest location with an open slot. A site marked Fully booked may be geographically close but unavailable for booking. Some sites require a conventional appointment; others may ask you to select a date without using the same booking flow. Follow the instructions shown on that particular listing, and verify the exact address and conditions before you set out.
Some locations offer staff-free verification using a newer Orb generation, but this is available only at selected sites. If a listing or on-site instructions identify a self-serve Orb, follow its prompts; do not assume every location has staff or the same process. World describes the operator role as independent contracting, not employment by World, World Foundation or Tools for Humanity; that status does not make an unlisted site authorized.

How to book, check or cancel an appointment
When a listing offers appointment slots, use the booking flow in World App:
- Go to Settings → Find an Orb and select a location with availability.
- Tap Schedule Appointment.
- Choose a date and time, then tap Book Appointment.
- Find your appointment details in the World ID tab. Use Cancel appointment there if you need to cancel.
Arrive at the correct address at the appointment time. World says verification cannot be completed before or after the booked slot. Check the listing and appointment details again before travel in case the site’s availability or instructions have changed.

What happens during verification
An Orb is World’s hardware device for verifying that a person is a unique human as part of World ID. World describes the process as imaging the user’s face and eyes; calling it only an “iris scan” is incomplete. World App guides you through consent and the verification steps, while the Orb provides positioning prompts.
- In World App, open the World ID tab and tap Verify yourself.
- Review the consent information and tap Agree and Continue.
- Watch the verification video. The app then generates a QR code.
- Show the QR code to the Orb and follow its positioning prompts.
- Look at the Orb, open your eyes as directed and remain still. Keep World App open until the process finishes.
At selected self-serve locations, World says users can scan the QR code and follow interactive prompts without an operator. The flow is not universal. World says the verification itself takes a couple of minutes, but queues or local procedures may add time; no specific duration is guaranteed.

Prepare before you go
- Bring your own phone, sufficiently charged, with a strong, reliable network connection.
- Confirm the address, appointment time and location-specific instructions.
- Remove glasses for verification. World says soft contact lenses are acceptable, but colored or hard lenses should be avoided.
- Wear no makeup or only minimal makeup; reflective makeup may interfere with imaging. Remove masks and, where possible, headwear that casts shadows.
- During imaging, keep your head and body still and look at the Orb rather than the phone’s progress animation.
Fix QR-code or verification problems
If the QR code will not scan
- Increase your screen brightness.
- Keep the code out of direct sunlight and away from reflections.
- Do not zoom in; keep the full code visible with some white space around its edges.
If verification fails
World’s first steps are to force-close World App, reopen it, confirm that it is updated to the latest version, and try verification again. If the issue continues, contact support through World App → Settings → Support. Note the location, appointment time and error message, but do not share secret recovery information.

Verify only at a location listed in World App. An address on a third-party map or a claim made by someone nearby is not proof of authorization. World’s scam guidance says a legitimate operator should not handle your phone or ask you for money, crypto, gifts, a phone number, an email address, a password, a private key or a two-factor authentication code. People offering token exchanges near verification sites are not part of the World team. Report suspicious behavior through World App.

Eligibility and privacy claims to check
World’s FAQ says users must be at least 18 or meet the applicable age-of-majority threshold in their country; its scam guidance also says users must be over 18 to verify. Availability and eligibility can depend on local law and product availability, so check current local requirements rather than assuming that a nearby or overseas site is available to you.
World says Orb verification does not require a name, email address, gender or similar identity information. It describes the Orb as capturing face-and-eye images and says images are deleted from the Orb by default after processing, with encrypted data sent to the user’s device. These are World’s statements, not an independent guarantee. Review the consent screen and current privacy notice before agreeing; data practices, retention defaults and available features may vary by jurisdiction.
World ID is the identity-verification system; World App is the app used to find locations and manage the process; the Orb is the verification device. These are distinct from WLD, World’s token. The location and appointment guidance cited here does not establish a universal WLD reward for visiting or verifying.
If there is no Orb nearby
- Check World App again later; locations and appointment availability can change.
- If the app offers Notify me, use it to request a notification when verification becomes available in your country.
- Follow World’s official announcements and use only locations that appear in World App.
Do not assume you can safely travel to another country to verify. First confirm eligibility, app availability, local rules, appointment requirements and that the service is actually operating there.
