Use the official GST portal’s monthly data PDFs to check state- and union-territory figures. In the March 2026 report, Table 2 compares pre-settlement SGST with post-settlement GST; Table 3 breaks down domestic collections by tax head and collecting authority. Always note the report date, reporting period, unit and measure before comparing figures.
Where to find the official state-wise GST data
Look for monthly data PDFs in the tutorial downloads area of the official GST portal. The figures below are from the GST portal/GSTN report titled “Table-2: SGST & SGST portion of IGST settled to States/UTs till March, 2026” and its accompanying domestic-collection table. The report’s figures are provisional; actuals may vary on finalization. GST portal/GSTN, March 2026 report.
March 2026 is the latest report identified here, but it is not established as the newest PDF available by 3 October 2026. Check the portal for a later report before relying on these figures for a current comparison.
Which table answers your question?
Table 2: pre- and post-settlement state figures
Use Table 2 to compare state/UT settlement figures. It contains monthly and financial-year tables, including FY 2024–25 and FY 2025–26 figures and growth. Select the period you need, then distinguish between pre-settlement SGST and post-settlement GST.

The report defines post-settlement GST as: “Post-Settlement GST is cumulative of the GST revenues of the States/UTs and the SGST portion of the IGST settled to the States/UTs.” It is therefore not SGST alone. GST portal/GSTN, March 2026 report.
Table 3: domestic collections by tax head and authority
Use Table 3, titled “State Wise/ Approving Authority wise Domestic Collection,” when you want domestic collections rather than the settlement comparison. It separates Central Formations and State Formations and reports CGST, SGST, IGST, cess and total, alongside GSTIN counts and growth. The report labels the figures in crore rupees and gives a cutoff of 31 March 2026. GST portal/GSTN, March 2026 report.

How to check and compare the figures
- Open the relevant monthly data PDF. Choose the reporting cutoff you need from the official GST portal’s tutorial downloads area.
- For settlement figures, open Table 2. Choose the monthly table or financial-year cumulative table, and record whether the amount is pre-settlement SGST or post-settlement GST.
- For domestic collections, open Table 3. Read the Central Formations, State Formations and combined total columns; retain the CGST, SGST, IGST and cess breakdown if it matters to your comparison.
- Record the context with every figure. Note the report cutoff, the period the amount covers, and the unit, “Rs. in crore.” A cumulative year-to-date figure is not a single-month collection.
- Interpret growth against its stated reference period. Compare only figures with the same reporting period and definition, and use the growth column’s stated comparison period.
Examples from the March 2026 report
These financial-year figures are cumulative through March 2026, not monthly amounts. Values are in crore rupees; growth is against FY 2024–25, as stated in the report. GST portal/GSTN, March 2026 report.
| Measure | FY 2025–26 through March | Growth against FY 2024–25 |
|---|---|---|
| Maharashtra pre-settlement SGST | ₹1,24,160 crore | 9% |
| Maharashtra post-settlement GST | ₹1,95,500 crore | 13% |
| Grand total post-settlement GST | ₹10,29,131 crore | 6% |
Why the report cutoff and period matter
A report’s as-of date and the period covered by a cumulative figure are different pieces of information. For example, the GST portal/GSTN report “GST Gross and Net Collections as on 30/09/2025” covers domestic collections from April to September 2025 and compares settlement figures for FY 2024–25 and FY 2025–26 through September. It reports Maharashtra combined domestic collection of ₹93,647 crore through 30 September 2025—a six-month cumulative amount, not a September-only collection. GST portal/GSTN, September 2025 report.
