Check the qualification window, eligibility, required deposits or trades, payout schedule, withdrawal rules, balance conditions, and clawback clauses before you act. Save the offer and terms as they appear to you: details can vary by campaign, account, and location.
What to check in the offer terms
Marketing copy may describe the reward without explaining all the conditions. Read the complete official terms for your offer and search for words such as “withdraw,” “outflow,” “hold,” “maintenance,” “minimum balance,” “reclaim,” “forfeit,” “reverse,” and “clawback.” Record the details below before depositing or trading.
- Source and applicability: Make sure the terms are linked from the offer itself. If the offer is personalized, use the details shown in your account rather than another person’s screenshot.
- Dates: Note when the qualification period starts and ends, when the reward is expected, and when any hold or balance-maintenance period ends. Check whether activity must be completed, settled, or credited before a deadline.
- Qualifying activity: Identify the minimum deposit or trade, eligible assets and transaction routes, and any excluded activity. Check whether the deposit must come from an account or wallet in your name.
- Eligibility: Confirm the permitted countries or states, age threshold, new-customer requirement, identity verification, membership, account standing, and limits on one reward per person, household, or account.
- Reward mechanics: Check whether the reward is fixed or percentage-based, whether it has a cap or tiers, what currency it is paid in, and whether it arrives all at once or in installments. A crypto reward’s market value can change.
- Exceptions and enforcement: Look for terms covering reversed deposits, account closure, compliance review, location changes, suspected abuse, and the sponsor’s right to withhold or reclaim a reward.
- Costs and risks: Account for trading fees, spread, any subscription cost, price movements, and risk from required trading or other products. The advertised bonus amount alone does not show whether an offer is worthwhile.
Save a screenshot or copy of both the offer and its terms, including the dates. Check again before acting in case the offer has changed or expired.
Distinguish a reward hold from a balance condition
A withdrawal hold restricts the reward itself
A hold means you may not be able to withdraw the reward for a specified period after it is credited. For example, Kraken’s separate margin-incentive rules state that the reward is subject to a 30-day withdrawal hold from the date of credit. The same rules warn that leveraged margin trading can amplify gains and losses and can result in losses exceeding the initial investment. A balance-maintenance condition can affect the bonus when you withdraw other assets
A maintenance condition may let you transact but reduce or jeopardize the reward if your balance or net deposits fall below a defined level. Crypto.com’s cited campaign FAQ describes a 12-month minimum-balance condition tied to net eligible deposits plus the bonus, with a possible pro-rata fee to claw back the bonus if the balance falls below the requirement. It also says withdrawals can be blocked if the balance cannot cover applicable fees. These are different restrictions. One limits access to the reward; the other can make withdrawals or outflows affect whether you keep it. Read how the offer defines balances and outflows rather than assuming that “credited” means “yours to withdraw without conditions.”

Check what counts as a qualifying deposit or trade
Terms may specify an asset source, product, minimum total, settlement requirement, or time window. A deposit or trade shown in the app does not necessarily qualify if it falls outside those definitions.
Kraken example: qualifying spot trades and exclusions
Kraken’s cited U.S. Exclusive Promo terms offered a $50 BTC reward to eligible participants who opened a new consumer account, completed required identity verification, and made at least $100 in qualifying spot crypto trades during the promotion period. The terms excluded activity such as futures, margin, staking, stablecoin-to-stablecoin conversions, off-platform transfers, wash trades, self-dealing, referral gaming, and VPN circumvention. They also allowed withholding or clawback in specified circumstances, including eligibility failure, prohibited conduct, restricted or closed account status, or terms violations. This promotion ran from October 28 through December 4, 2025, so it illustrates how terms define eligibility and activity; it is not a current offer to rely on: Kraken U.S. Exclusive Promo rules.

Binance.US example: qualification followed by net-deposit maintenance
The cited Binance.US Rare Evo offer required qualifying deposits and/or trades totaling at least $100 within 14 days of signup, followed by a 30-day maintenance period under the terms’ net-deposit and qualifying-trade formulation. The terms defined net deposit as deposits minus withdrawals, valued in USD at the time of each transaction. They also specified bonus tiers, good-standing and distribution conditions, and possible disqualification or clawback for invalid or reversed activity and other specified abuse. The page listed reward distribution by October 1, 2026, subject to verification; that date has passed, so this is an example of how to read an offer, not a current signup opportunity: Binance.US Rare Evo offer terms.
Verify personalized terms and payout timing
Some offers do not use one universal rate or schedule. Coinbase says the bonus rate, inflow cap, and bonus period may be specific to the user and shown in the offer email, in-app notification, bonus screen, or Rewards Hub. Its page contains multiple terms, including archived or closed offers; some provide equal monthly installments, and certain outflow transactions during the bonus period may reduce or lead to reclamation of a bonus. Some offers also require retaining assets on Coinbase or maintaining a Coinbase One subscription. These conditions vary by offer, and the page does not establish that an offer is available to every reader now: Coinbase funding-bonus terms.

For your own offer, note the reward’s expected credit date, whether payment is in installments, when any hold begins and ends, and which outflows count. If those details are only in the individualized offer screen, preserve that screen along with the linked terms.

A larger advertised reward may require more trading, a longer maintenance period, a subscription, or exposure to a volatile asset. Compare the obligations and costs alongside the amount.
Check regional rules and risk warnings
Eligibility and consumer protections depend on where you live. The UK Financial Conduct Authority says cryptoasset promotions to UK consumers are subject to rules requiring clear risk warnings and communications that are fair, clear, and not misleading. The FCA advises UK readers to check its Warning List before making a crypto investment. These are UK-specific points; rules and regulator checks differ elsewhere: FCA guidance on cryptoasset promotions.
The FCA states: “Those promoting crypto must also put in place clear risk warnings and ensure adverts are clear, fair and not misleading.” That does not replace reading the offer’s own terms or confirm that an offer is suitable for you.
