Switching or linking changes what OpenSea displays; it does not move ownership. To move assets, you must send them in an on-chain transaction.

Switch to a wallet already linked on OpenSea (web)
- Sign in to OpenSea.
- Hover over your username or profile area in the upper-right corner.
- Select the linked wallet you want to use.
- Approve an ownership signature if OpenSea or your wallet requests one.
- Check the displayed public address and portfolio before buying, listing, or transferring anything.
This switches the active view only. NFTs and tokens remain at their original blockchain address. See OpenSea’s instructions for switching wallets.
Link a new wallet to the same OpenSea account
Desktop steps
- Select the profile icon and choose Link Wallet. You can also open Settings → Linked Wallets → Link a Wallet.
- Choose the wallet provider.
- Open the wallet extension’s account selector and select the exact address you intend to link.
- Click Link wallet to account.
- Sign the ownership message in the wallet, then confirm the address under Linked Wallets.
A signature proves control of the address; it is not a token transfer and normally does not require gas. Never enter a recovery phrase or private key just to connect an external wallet. OpenSea’s current linking guide is at How do I link or import wallets to my OpenSea account?

Limits and account rules
- OpenSea currently documents up to 10 linked wallets across EVM and Solana blockchains.
- A wallet can be linked to only one OpenSea account at a time. Unlink it from the other account first if necessary.
- OpenSea says multiple email-login wallets cannot be linked to one account, and email-login wallets cannot be unlinked.
- Use the three-dot menu beside a linked wallet to label it, edit its profile, change visibility, or unlink it. Hiding a wallet from your public profile does not remove it and it may remain searchable.
If OpenSea shows the wrong MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, or other account
Switching accounts inside a wallet extension is separate from switching among wallets linked to OpenSea.
- Open the wallet extension.
- Use its account selector (for example, MetaMask’s profile/account control or Coinbase Wallet’s address selector).
- Select the desired address.
- Return to OpenSea and reconnect or complete the signature prompt.
- Compare the public address shown by the extension with the address shown on OpenSea.
Controls vary by provider and may change after wallet updates. OpenSea supports compatible wallets, including major examples such as MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, and Robinhood Wallet, but not every wallet works in every OpenSea surface. OpenSea currently states that multisignature wallets are not supported; that is an OpenSea limitation, not a general blockchain rule. See supported wallet guidance.
Link or import a wallet in the OpenSea mobile app
Open the app and go to Portfolio → gear icon → Your Wallets → Link Wallet. You will see three different choices:

Link mobile wallet
Choose a wallet installed in another mobile app. That app opens for connection approval and an ownership signature. This normally leaves custody with the external wallet.

Link web account
Choose this to connect your OpenSea web account. On a computer, display the QR code at opensea.io/mobile, then scan it from the app’s linking flow.
Import wallet
Importing a private key or recovery phrase gives the OpenSea app control of that wallet. It is materially riskier than linking an external wallet. Use it only when you deliberately understand the custody implications, and never paste a phrase into an unfamiliar page, support chat, or message. OpenSea says the app can detect whether an imported key belongs to an Ethereum or Solana wallet. Follow the current mobile linking and importing instructions.

Move NFTs to the new wallet
If the goal is for a different address to own an NFT, linking is not enough. Transfer the item from the old wallet.
- Open the NFT in the old wallet’s profile or on its item page.
- Select the transfer arrow or Send.
- Choose a linked, previously connected, or previously used wallet, or select Add Wallet.
- Enter the destination address or a supported ENS name.
- Select Review Transfer.
- Verify the destination, chain, and item, then confirm the transaction in the old wallet.
- Wait for blockchain confirmation and check the destination wallet or an appropriate blockchain explorer.
OpenSea says transfers sent to the wrong address cannot be reversed. Before approving, verify the first and last several characters of the address, the correct network, destination-wallet compatibility, available native currency for gas, and whether the NFT is locked in an active listing, offer, loan, escrow, or other protocol action. A small test transfer can reduce risk when the asset and fees make one practical, but it does not replace checking the final address. See OpenSea’s NFT transfer procedure.

Move cryptocurrency to the new wallet
Use the old wallet’s Send function, enter the new public address, confirm the asset and network, and approve the transaction. OpenSea’s wallet interface also has Deposit, which copies the current wallet address for receiving funds; it does not send funds.

- Confirm that the destination supports the asset and selected chain.
- Do not assume a similarly named network is interchangeable with another.
- Keep enough native cryptocurrency in the sending wallet for network fees.
- Treat an incorrect network or incompatible address as potentially unrecoverable.
Network costs depend on the blockchain and transaction; there is no universal fee for changing or transferring a wallet. OpenSea describes wallet balances and sending functions in Get to know your wallet on OpenSea.
Change the wallet used for swaps or purchases in the app
This is a separate, mobile-only setting where available. Open the token swap screen and tap its gear icon, or go to Settings → Swap Settings → Preferred Wallets. OpenSea currently allows separate preferred wallets for EVM token swaps, Solana token swaps, EVM NFT collection purchases, and Solana NFT collection purchases. Features may be released in phases, so the setting may not appear for every user. Details are in OpenSea’s swap-settings guide.

Ethereum, Polygon, Solana, and other chains are network contexts, not wallet addresses. OpenSea generally lets you browse by filtering for a chain rather than manually changing networks. In a third-party wallet, switching the network can change the chain displayed while leaving the wallet address unchanged.

- An EVM wallet may use one address across several EVM networks, but balances and NFTs on each chain are separate.
- Solana uses a different address format and wallet system.
- Changing networks does not transfer ownership.
- Cross-chain purchases, swaps, and bridges can involve different transactions and fees.

Email-login and OpenSea-created wallets
If you sign in by email instead of connecting MetaMask or another external wallet, OpenSea ties the self-custodial wallet to that email account. OpenSea says you cannot simply replace the wallet by changing the email; using a different email requires a new account.
OpenSea also says you can export the private key from an email-login wallet and import it into another wallet application. Anyone with that key can control the assets, so store it offline and never disclose it. OpenSea says it does not have the key and will not ask for it. Read OpenSea’s login-reset guidance before attempting a migration.
Troubleshooting when the wallet is wrong or assets are missing
Wrong wallet still appears
- Confirm the active address in the wallet extension.
- Copy its public address and compare it with OpenSea’s displayed address.
- Log out of OpenSea and reconnect the intended wallet.
- If the session remains stale, try the wallet’s supported connection flow in a clean browser profile.
- Check that you are not viewing a different OpenSea account, browser profile, or chain.
Never give a seed phrase or private key to someone claiming to be support. OpenSea notes that a blank profile or missing items can indicate the wrong wallet is connected; see its web3-wallet login guidance.
The new wallet cannot be linked
- Check whether it is already linked to another OpenSea account.
- Select the correct account in the wallet extension.
- Confirm the provider is installed and supported.
- Remember that multiple email-login wallets are not supported on one account.
- Check whether the wallet is multisignature, which OpenSea currently does not support.
No NFTs appear after switching
NFTs belong to addresses, not to the OpenSea website account. A newly selected address may simply be empty; the assets remain controlled by the original wallet until transferred. Check the wallet address, chain filter, hidden or suspicious-item sections, indexing delay after a transfer, and whether an escrow, marketplace, loan, or contract currently holds the NFT.
