Yes—Bluehost supports .world domain registration, and you can buy the domain without purchasing hosting. The exact price depends on the name, region, registration term and whether Bluehost classifies it as premium, so check the live cart for both the first-term charge and renewal price before paying. Bluehost’s published free-domain eligibility list does not include .world. Bluehost’s .world page and domain pricing guidance are the starting points.

Does .world fit your brand?

.world is a generic top-level domain that can signal an international outlook or a broad community. It may suit a travel brand, cross-border business, global nonprofit, multilingual community, event or media project—particularly when “world” already belongs naturally in the name. Bluehost says the extension has no geographic restrictions; it does not, by itself, prove that a business operates worldwide. Bluehost’s .world page

Choose the extension for fit and memorability, not a promised search boost. Bluehost promotes possible branding and SEO advantages, but the cited page does not establish that .world improves rankings. If broad familiarity matters more than the message of the extension, consider whether your audience is more likely to remember or type a .com.

How much does a .world domain cost at Bluehost?

Bluehost does not publish one universal .world registration price on its dedicated page. Search the exact name and inspect the cart for the price applicable to your country and currency. Check the renewal charge as well as the initial registration amount: a first-term price is not necessarily the recurring cost. Bluehost’s .world page says pricing can vary; its pricing guidance directs customers to live pricing and the Portal Renewal Center.

  • Registration term: Note how many years the displayed charge covers and what renewal will cost.
  • Premium status: A name classified as premium may cost substantially more than a standard registration.
  • Privacy and protection: Check whether the option is included or separately charged for this name. Bluehost’s general pricing information treats some domain-related services as separate charges, while its .world page promotes privacy protection.
  • Add-ons: Remove hosting, email, security or other extras unless you intend to buy them.
  • Taxes and currency: The total may vary by location; Bluehost says VAT is added separately for EU customers.

Bluehost’s published free-domain extension list does not include .world, so do not assume it will be free with a hosting plan. The offer is subject to plan and timing conditions, and excludes premium domains. Check the current eligible list and terms rather than treating a hosting promotion as a .world discount. How to register a .world domain on Bluehost

Buy through Bluehost’s website

  1. Open Bluehost Domains and enter the complete name you want, including .world.
  2. Submit the search. A supported extension does not guarantee that your particular name is available; check the result for availability and any premium designation.
  3. Select the available result and continue to checkout. Review the registration term, price, renewal charge and any privacy or protection option.
  4. Sign in to your Bluehost account or create one. Read each suggested hosting, email, security or other add-on and remove anything you do not want.
  5. Check the billing term and total, then verify the spelling of the name and extension character by character.
  6. Enter your billing details and submit payment. Save the confirmation email and open the Bluehost Portal to manage the domain.

Buy from the Bluehost Portal

  1. Sign in to the Portal and open Domains.
  2. Select Add a Domain, then choose Get a brand new domain.
  3. Search for the complete .world name and select the available result.
  4. Choose the term, review the cart and spelling, then submit payment.

Bluehost also documents a Marketplace route: open Marketplace, choose the Domains category, search for the name and continue to checkout. Interface wording may change; confirm the final cart before completing the purchase. Bluehost domain registration guide

Can you buy .world without hosting?

Yes. Bluehost says you can purchase a domain separately through its Domains area or Portal; you do not have to buy a hosting plan. Bluehost: Buy a domain name without hosting

  • Domain registration reserves the name for the registration period; it does not create a website.
  • Web hosting stores and serves a website. You need hosting or another website platform to publish site content.
  • Email service provides an actual mailbox, such as [email protected]. Forwarding routes messages elsewhere and is not necessarily a mailbox.
  • DNS management points the domain to a website, email provider or other service.

Buy hosting only if you need it. A domain-only purchase is sufficient to reserve the name while you decide where to build or host a site.

What to do after checkout

Confirm ownership and secure the account

Look for Bluehost’s order-confirmation email and confirm that the domain appears in the Portal. Keep the registrant email current and accessible, use a unique account password, and enable two-factor authentication if available. Turn on domain lock except when preparing a transfer, review auto-renewal and payment details, and check whether privacy protection is included or costs extra. Treat unexpected verification messages cautiously: verify that a message is genuinely from Bluehost or your registrar before following its links. Bluehost describes its privacy service as masking personal contact details in public registration records and may include additional alerts or monitoring. Bluehost domain privacy information

Connect a website

Registration and a live website are different things. To use Bluehost hosting, attach the domain to the hosting service using Bluehost’s connection or DNS controls, then confirm the site’s SSL certificate and test both the root name and www version if you plan to use both.

For a third-party host, get its required nameservers or DNS records first. You can change the domain’s nameservers to the provider’s, or keep Bluehost DNS and add the records the provider specifies, such as A, CNAME or TXT records. Use the approach the host instructs; do not combine nameserver and record-based setups unless the provider specifically requires it. If email is already configured, preserve its MX and authentication records—SPF, DKIM and DMARC—when changing DNS.

Set up email

Bluehost’s .world page advertises email forwarding and professional email options. Forwarding can send messages addressed to [email protected] to an existing inbox; a full mailbox requires an email service. When configuring that service, add the provider’s required MX, SPF, DKIM and DMARC records. Overwriting MX records can interrupt mail delivery. Bluehost’s .world page

Allow time for DNS changes

Bluehost says activation may take a few minutes, while DNS propagation can take approximately 1–24 hours in some cases. A domain can be registered even while some networks still resolve earlier DNS information. Bluehost’s .world page

If the name is unavailable or the cart price jumps

The name is unavailable

  1. Recheck the spelling and try a singular or plural version.
  2. Try a different word order or remove unnecessary hyphens and numbers.
  3. Review Bluehost’s suggested alternatives; its registration guide also describes a possible backorder option.
  4. Consider another extension, but do not imitate an existing brand just because a similar name is available.

The checkout total is higher than expected

Check each cart line. A premium classification, longer term, selected add-on, regional currency, tax, expired promotion or a displayed renewal charge can explain a difference. Compare the initial term and renewal separately, and remove products you did not mean to select before paying.

The domain does not work

Check its status in the Portal, the nameservers and A/CNAME records, whether hosting is attached, and whether DNS propagation is still underway. Then check SSL status and try another browser or network to rule out a local cache issue. Bluehost’s stated 1–24-hour propagation window is approximate, not a guarantee that every configuration will resolve correctly in that time. Bluehost’s .world page

.world, .com or .global?

Extension Brand signal and trade-off Bluehost price information
.world Suggests a broad or international focus; best when that message fits the name and audience. No universal price is stated on the dedicated page; check the exact name and term in the live cart. Source
.com More familiar to many users; a reasonable choice when maximum conventional recognition matters. Bluehost’s cited page lists $12.99 for first-year registration and $23.99 renewal for .com; those figures are not prices for .world. Source
.global An alternative that states an international focus directly; the name and brand still need to sound natural. Price depends on the name, term and premium status; check live pricing. Source

Bluehost also lists .website, .online, .site and .store among extensions eligible for its free-domain hosting offer, subject to its terms and exclusions. That may matter if the extension accurately describes your project, but the eligibility does not make .world free. Bluehost eligible extensions and pricing

Refunds, transfers and expiration

Bluehost’s registration guide says a registered domain cannot be canceled for a refund. Its pricing and hosting information also says domain fees are generally non-refundable and the 30-day hosting guarantee generally does not apply to domains. Verify the applicable terms before submitting payment. Registration guide · Domain pricing terms · Hosting terms

Bluehost’s published pricing page says a newly registered domain cannot be transferred to another registrar during its first 60 days. After it is eligible, its .world page describes unlocking the domain, obtaining the EPP/authentication code and submitting it to the new registrar; it estimates transfers at approximately 5–7 days. Keep DNS configured correctly if you want the website or email to remain available during a move, and confirm current eligibility in the Portal. Bluehost transfer policy · Bluehost .world transfer guidance

Bluehost’s general pricing guidance says an expired domain may be held for up to 30 days before entering redemption and lists a $99 redemption fee. These are published general policy details, not a guarantee for every .world case; check the domain-specific agreement and act before expiration. Bluehost domain pricing and expiration information
