There is no verified all-in break-even figure for Disney’s 2025 Snow White in the available reporting. A production-only calculation reported by Forbes put the illustrative ticket-sales target at $427.8 million, based on $213.9 million in net production-company spend and an assumed 50% studio share. That calculation excludes marketing and distribution. The film ultimately grossed $205,679,463 worldwide in theaters, according to The Numbers.
What does “break even” mean for a movie?
A theatrical gross is the total paid by moviegoers, not the amount the studio receives. Theaters retain a portion of ticket sales, while the studio’s eventual result also depends on costs such as production, marketing and distribution. So a film’s gross cannot be compared directly with its production budget to calculate profit or loss.
For Snow White, the cited reporting does not establish a final all-in cost or the film’s actual country-by-country theatrical rental terms. That means no precise theatrical break-even gross can be verified from these figures.
Where the $427.8 million estimate comes from
Forbes reported that Disney production-company filings showed $269.4 million in costs by December 31, 2023, and a $55.5 million UK fiscal incentive reimbursement. Subtracting the reimbursement left $213.9 million in net production-company spend. Forbes then divided that amount by an assumed 50% studio share of ticket sales, producing an illustrative gross target of $427.8 million. Forbes’ March 29, 2025 report

This is a production-only illustration, not a confirmed break-even threshold. The 50% share is an assumption, not a disclosed rental rate for this film. Forbes cited a 2014 survey of 1,235 film professionals in which studios’ average reported theater share was 49%; that historical industry-wide figure does not reveal Snow White’s actual terms by territory.
Why published budget figures differ
Production-cost figures vary with the source and the accounting date or basis. Forbes reported that Variety had put the budget at $240 million before prints and advertising, while The Numbers lists a $269.4 million production budget. These amounts should not be treated as interchangeable or added together. Forbes’ March 17, 2025 report The Numbers’ Snow White (2025) summary

The $269.4 million in production-company costs reported through December 31, 2023, is also not necessarily a final project total: Forbes said reshoots and post-production continued after that period. The $213.9 million net figure reflects the reported incentive reimbursement, whereas the production budget listed by The Numbers is a separate published figure.
What is missing from an all-in calculation?
Marketing and distribution costs for this particular film are not established by the cited sources. Forbes said marketing is borne at studio level and is not included in the production-company net-spend figure. Disney’s fiscal 2025 annual report recorded a $638 million increase in Entertainment segment selling, general, administrative and other costs, to $2.746 billion, primarily due to higher theatrical marketing costs. That segment-wide number does not disclose Snow White’s marketing bill and cannot be used as its film-specific cost. The Walt Disney Company fiscal 2025 annual report

Forbes also noted that merchandise and corporate-alliance revenue goes to the studio rather than the production company. Such income could matter to a broader studio-level accounting, but the cited reporting does not quantify it for this film. Without film-specific marketing, distribution, rental and ancillary-revenue figures, an all-in break-even estimate would require assumptions not verified here.
How much did Snow White actually gross?
| Market | Theatrical gross |
|---|---|
| Domestic | $87,203,963 |
| International | $118,475,500 |
| Worldwide | $205,679,463 |

The worldwide gross is below The Numbers’ listed production budget, and therefore also below the $427.8 million production-only illustration. That comparison shows the film did not reach either gross-sales figure; it does not by itself calculate a precise accounting loss, because ticket gross is not studio revenue and the actual film-specific costs and rental terms are not disclosed here.

- It can be a gift option
- Comes with secure packaging
- Helpful in various ways
- Cost basis: Is it gross production cost or net spend after an incentive?
- Cost date: Through what date were costs counted, and did production or post-production continue afterward?
- Included expenses: Does it include marketing and distribution, or only production?
- Theater share: Is the rental percentage a disclosed film-specific figure or an industry assumption?
- Revenue counted: Is the calculation about theatrical rentals alone, or does it include other studio revenue?
Those distinctions explain why the reported $427.8 million calculation is useful as a production-only illustration but cannot answer the broader question of the film’s all-in profitability.
