Autoblog reported the brand’s September total on October 2, describing it as Honda’s best September since 2023. The figures show a strong month and quarter—not Honda’s full-year 2026 results, global sales, or profitability.
What Honda’s September sales figures cover
Autoblog’s October 2, 2026 report put American Honda’s September U.S. sales at 111,661 vehicles. The combined Honda and Acura total was 121,796: 111,661 Hondas and 10,135 Acuras. The report’s 15.9% month-to-date increase applies to the combined brands, not Honda alone. It also reported 392,341 combined Honda and Acura sales in the third quarter, up 9.3% year over year.
These are reported unit-sales figures for a specific U.S. month and quarter. They do not establish Honda’s revenue, profit, worldwide performance, or final 2026 sales. The September figures cited here come from Autoblog; the American Honda release available for company context is its January 2026 outlook and 2025 results review.
The CR-V was the standout Honda model
Autoblog reported 34,788 CR-V sales in September 2026, compared with 28,549 in September 2025—a year-over-year increase of 21.9%. That made the CR-V a major contributor to Honda’s September volume: it represented about 31% of the brand’s 111,661 reported sales.

Hybrids made up about 53% of September CR-V sales
Of September’s CR-V total, 18,521 were hybrids, according to Autoblog. That is approximately 53% of the month’s CR-V sales, calculated from the reported hybrid and total figures. It is a monthly mix, not a measure of the hybrid share for all of 2026.
Year-to-date sales were also higher
Through September 2026, Autoblog reported 336,844 CR-V sales, up 9.5% year over year, and 1,149,261 Honda-brand sales, up 4.7%. The CR-V’s 9.5% gain exceeded the brand’s 4.7% increase over that period, reinforcing its role as a leading contributor. These are year-to-date totals through September, not full-year results.

How the results compare with Honda’s 2025 baseline
American Honda reported 1,430,577 U.S. vehicle sales in 2025, up 0.5% from 2024 and its best annual result since 2021. The company said CR-V sales topped 400,000 for the second consecutive year, with hybrids accounting for 54% of the model’s 2025 sales mix. That annual hybrid share is close to, but distinct from, the approximately 53% reported for September 2026.
In its January 14, 2026 outlook, American Honda projected about 1.5 million U.S. sales for the year, 4% above 2025. That was a forecast, not a completed result. The company also said it planned to increase production of more value-oriented CR-V, Civic, and Accord trims amid affordability concerns. Lance Woelfer, American Honda’s vice president of sales, said in that January outlook: “For American Honda, we are focused on delivering the right mix of gas-powered and hybrid vehicles to meet customer demand for affordable, high-value products.” The statement describes the company’s outlook and priorities; it was not a comment on September sales.

Autoblog said CR-V supply issues lasted 17 days and suggested that low Toyota RAV4 supply may have redirected some shoppers to Honda. That is a possible explanation offered in the article, not independently demonstrated causation: the available information does not independently verify the supply duration, Toyota inventory conditions, or buyer substitution. The sales totals alone cannot show why customers chose the CR-V.

The CR-V’s September performance sits within a much longer history, but global figures should not be confused with U.S. sales. Honda Motor Co. said the model debuted in 1995, was sold in about 150 countries, and passed 15 million cumulative global sales in August 2025. The company described it as Honda’s best-selling automobile model by unit sales from 2015 through 2024.
