The “$7” in Harmon Kardon HK 19.5 Speakers $7 is a historical deal price, not a current offer. An AnandTech Forums post dated April 11, 2002, described Harman/Kardon HK19.5 powered satellite speakers and said Dell had shipped them with some of its systems. The post does not establish what a set costs today or provide a verified specification sheet.
What the $7 listing refers to
The title matches an AnandTech Forums deal thread started by a user identified as RVN on April 11, 2002. RVN called the item “Harman / Kardon HK19.5 High Quality Powered Satellite Speakers $7” and wrote, “These are the ones that Dell had been shipping with their systems for some time.” Those are the thread starter’s description and historical context, not a current retailer listing or a manufacturer statement. AnandTech Forums thread, April 11, 2002
In other words, $7 is the price recorded in that old forum post. It should not be read as today’s retail price, a typical used price, or a confirmed value for a working set. No current price was established.
What is known about the HK 19.5 speakers
The post identifies them as powered satellite speakers, meaning the poster described them as a speaker set with amplification. An earlier forum discussion also connects HK 19.5 speakers with Dell desktop systems, but that is informal user discussion rather than documentation from Dell or Harman/Kardon. What the historical posts do not verify
The available forum material does not establish a complete specification sheet. In particular, it does not verify the exact connectors, power rating, dimensions, operating-system support, or compatibility with a particular computer or audio source. Nor does it establish the speakers’ sound quality through formal testing.

That makes model identification important if you are considering a surviving set: a seller’s label, photographs, and included components are more useful than assuming that every similarly described Harman/Kardon satellite speaker is an HK 19.5.

Since the 2002 price does not tell you what a set is worth now, evaluate the specific listing rather than using $7 as a benchmark. Check these practical details with the seller:

- Exact model: Ask for a clear photo of the label or other identifying marks showing HK 19.5.
- Included parts: Confirm whether the power supply and any cables needed to connect the speakers are included. The historical post does not specify what came in the box.
- Working condition: Ask whether both speakers have been tested, and whether the seller can demonstrate them working.
- Complete cost: Compare the seller’s asking price plus shipping and any other charges. The 2002 deal price is not evidence of present-day market value.
Without a verified manual, current listing, or confirmed price, the soundest conclusion is narrow: this was a low-priced historical deal for a model the poster associated with Dell systems, not a live $7 offer or a reliable guide to current used prices.
