Google’s AI Ultra launched at $249.99 a month: what the 2025 plan included

Google AI Ultra launched on May 20, 2025, at $249.99 per month in the U.S., bundling top Gemini access, Veo and Flow tools, 30 TB of storage and individual YouTube Premium. Here is what the price did—and did not—buy.

Google announced Google AI Ultra on May 20, 2025, pricing it at $249.99 per month in the United States. The consumer subscription combined Google’s highest stated Gemini limits with Veo and Flow video tools, 30 TB of storage, an individual YouTube Premium membership and access to experimental products.

That $249.99 figure is the U.S. launch price, not a confirmed August 2026 price. Google’s current Google One page presents Ultra pricing dynamically, so check the purchase flow for your country before subscribing.

What Google announced

Google presented AI Ultra during Google I/O on May 20, 2025, as a “VIP pass” to its most capable models, higher usage limits and early access to experimental products. The launch was in the United States, with availability expanding later and individual features remaining subject to country, language, account and platform restrictions.

The standard launch rate was $249.99 monthly. First-time subscribers were offered 50% off for the first three months—approximately $124.99 per month before tax—after which the regular launch rate applied. At that rate, a full year would have cost $2,999.88 before tax. These are historical launch calculations, not a current-price guarantee.

Google Pixel 11 Pro - Unlocked Smartphone, Gemini - 256 GB - Obsidian
  • Attention-grabbing design meets the latest evolution of the Google Pixel Camera on the new Google Pixel 11 Pro; Gemini Intelligence helps manage details so you can live in the moment[1]; and the phone is available in two sizes
  • Unlocked Android phone gives you the flexibility to change carriers and choose your own data plan: Works with Google Fi, Verizon, T-Mobile, AT&T, and other major carriers[2]
  • Stay informed without looking at your screen: When your phone is face down, Pixel HiLight gently alerts you with subtle glowing lights when your favorite contacts are calling or you’re talking with Gemini; exclusive to Google Pixel 11 Pro phones
  • Magic Capture catches the moment as you live it: With just one tap, Pixel 11 Pro captures video and photos, and automatically edits, crops, and unblurs a curated collection, ready to share – and you get the memory of how it felt to be in the moment
  • Two new cameras for more brilliant photos: A larger telephoto sensor captures 30% more light for clear, beautiful photos and videos, even in the dark[3]; Pixel’s longest zoom ever helps you capture details from impressive distances[4]

Google AI Pro launched at $19.99 per month. On launch pricing, Ultra therefore cost about 12.5 times as much, or $230 more each month. Pro and Ultra were different access tiers rather than two versions of the same chatbot.

What AI Ultra included at launch

Benefit What Google described Important qualification
Gemini Highest usage limits in the Gemini app for advanced research, coding, creative work and video generation. “Highest limits” did not mean unlimited use.
Gemini 2.5 Pro Deep Think Planned access to Google’s advanced reasoning mode. Announced as a later benefit; model names and availability can change.
Veo 3 Early access to video generation with native dialogue, sound effects and background audio. Initially emphasized for Ultra users in the U.S. through Gemini and Flow; rollout varied.
Flow AI filmmaking workspace using Veo, Imagen and Gemini, with higher limits, 1080p generation and advanced camera controls. Google’s launch description gave Pro 100 generations per month; current quotas may differ.
Whisk Animate Higher limits for turning still images into short animated videos with Veo 2. Feature access and quotas are plan- and region-dependent.
NotebookLM Higher usage limits and enhanced model capabilities. Some enhancements were described as arriving later.
Gemini in Google apps Gemini features in Gmail, Docs, Vids and other Google productivity products. Exact apps, languages and limits vary by account and country.
Gemini in Chrome Early access to Google’s browser assistant. An early-access benefit, not a promise of identical functionality on every device.
Project Mariner An experimental agent prototype that Google said could manage up to 10 tasks at once, including research, bookings and purchases. Prototype capabilities and availability can change or disappear.
YouTube Premium An individual membership with ad-free YouTube and YouTube Music, offline playback and background playback. It was not a family plan; account-conversion and duplicate-subscription terms matter.
Storage 30 TB shared across Google Photos, Drive and Gmail. Its value depends on whether you actually need that capacity.

Google’s launch announcement is at Google AI Ultra. The company’s I/O summary covered the Pro comparison and bundle, while its Flow announcement described the filmmaking controls and generation tiers.

Ultra versus Pro: what the premium price bought

Launch-era feature Google AI Pro Google AI Ultra
Monthly U.S. price $19.99 $249.99
AI access Lower access level Google’s highest stated limits
Flow and Veo Access at a lower tier; Flow was described with 100 monthly generations at launch Higher Flow limits and early Veo 3 access
Storage Not stated in the launch comparison used here 30 TB
YouTube Premium Not included in the launch bundle Individual membership included
Experimental access More limited Project Mariner and other early-access benefits were included or planned
Best suited to People who mainly want Gemini and Google-app integrations Heavy, multi-product users who can use video tools, storage and YouTube Premium

Google’s I/O 2025 roundup records the launch-era prices and positioning. Do not use this table as a current 2026 price sheet.

Who could justify Ultra?

Potentially worthwhile: the high-volume video creator

Ultra made the strongest financial case for someone regularly experimenting with Veo and Flow who also needs substantial Google storage and would otherwise pay for individual YouTube Premium. The bundle reduces the need to assemble separate Google services, but only if several components are used every month.

Borderline: the developer or researcher

Higher Gemini limits, Deep Research and NotebookLM may help a heavy user. However, a consumer subscription is not automatically a substitute for predictable API capacity, deployment controls, monitoring or governance. Developers building software should evaluate Google Cloud Vertex AI separately.

Poor fit: the occasional chatbot user

If you mainly draft emails, summarize documents, brainstorm or write occasional code, the launch evidence did not justify paying twelve-and-a-half times the Pro price. A cheaper tier is more proportionate unless you also need the storage, YouTube and video bundle.

  • Google Pixel 10 Pro is the ultimate Pixel experience, featuring advanced AI with Gemini, unbelievable camera quality, impeccable design in two sizes, and the next-gen Google Tensor G5 chip[1]

  • Get a head start on syncing your data before it even arrives: After you purchase your new Pixel, look for an email that explains how to transfer your photos, videos, passwords, and more in just a few quick steps[11]
  • Pixel’s pro camera system makes everything look amazing, even in low light; capture more of the scene with advanced Google AI models, and bring out incredible details with 100x Pro Res Zoom, stunning 50 MP images, and super steady videos in 8K[10]
  • Pixel 10 Pro is built with durable aluminum and Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 for scratch and drop resistance; the 6.3-inch Super Actua display with 3,300-nit peak brightness is easy on the eyes, even in direct sunlight[3,13,18]

Limits and restrictions to check before subscribing

  • Not unlimited: Google described “highest usage limits,” and its support documentation says limits can apply by feature and plan. Avoid assuming unlimited Gemini or Veo generations.
  • Regional rollout: Google said Ultra reached 73 countries by May 30, 2025, but individual tools could still be unavailable in a particular country or language.
  • Platform differences: Gemini capabilities can differ between web and mobile apps.
  • Early access is conditional: features may roll out gradually, require English or U.S. access, carry separate quotas, or be unavailable on managed Workspace accounts.
  • Video is not a production guarantee: Flow and Veo do not promise character continuity, copyright clearance, commercial suitability, a particular export format or reliable output at scale. Google has described SynthID provenance and product-dependent visible watermark treatment.
  • Storage and YouTube value are personal: 30 TB has little value if you use a fraction of it, and an existing YouTube Premium subscriber should check how duplicate billing, pauses or account conversion are handled.
  • Consumer and developer plans differ: Google One AI Ultra should not be confused with Workspace add-ons or Google Antigravity developer tiers.

What the price means in 2026

The $249.99 headline remains accurate as a report of Google’s May 2025 U.S. launch. It should not be presented as the confirmed August 2026 consumer price: Google’s public Google One page renders Ultra as a “from” monthly price rather than exposing one fixed amount in the page text. Use the live checkout for the subscriber’s country, tax status and account.

  • Google Pixel 7 has wide and ultrawide lenses with up to 8x Super Res Zoom[5]; and Cinematic Blur brings more drama to your videos

Google’s separate 2026 Antigravity plan update mentioned $100 and $200 developer-oriented tiers. That announcement concerns Antigravity access and does not establish a new price for the consumer Google One AI Ultra subscription.

How to decide

  1. Check the live Google One checkout page for your country and account.
  2. List the features you will use every month: Gemini, Flow or Veo, NotebookLM, storage and YouTube Premium.
  3. Confirm the specific quotas, supported languages, platforms and account type for each feature.
  4. Subtract services you already pay for, but do not count theoretical value from tools you will not use.
  5. If you need production APIs or enterprise controls, compare Vertex AI rather than treating Ultra as an API plan.

The Bottom Line

Google AI Ultra was a genuine $249.99-per-month U.S. launch announced on May 20, 2025, but it was a broad premium bundle—not simply a better chatbot. It made the most sense for users combining heavy AI-video use with 30 TB of storage and individual YouTube Premium; everyone else should verify today’s price and compare cheaper or developer-focused options.
