Google kept the headline starting prices of most of the lineup close to the Pixel 9 generation, but removed the Pixel 10 Pro XL’s 128GB entry model. The Pro XL launched at $1,199 with 256GB, making the cheapest way into that model $100 more expensive than the previous generation’s 128GB version.
Because the Pixel 10 series launched in 2025, this is now a resolved pricing story rather than an unreleased-product rumor. The figures below are U.S. launch prices and should not be confused with later sales, carrier offers or trade-in credits.
What the original Pixel 10 rumor claimed
Pre-launch coverage in July 2025 described a mostly stable lineup. Tom’s Guide attributed the numbers to an Android Headlines leak, while noting that the source was not identified and that the figures were not confirmed. The report listed these U.S. starting prices:
| Model | Reported starting price | Reported change |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 10 | $799 | No headline change |
| Pixel 10 Pro | $999 | No headline change |
| Pixel 10 Pro XL | $1,199 | 128GB entry tier reportedly removed |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold | $1,799 for 256GB | A possible 1TB model was reported at about $2,149 |
Tom’s Guide’s report should therefore be read as leaked pricing, not as a Google announcement.

What Google ultimately confirmed
Google’s launch information and the Associated Press’ launch summary showed broadly unchanged headline pricing for the four principal models. Exact U.S. launch prices were:
| Phone | U.S. launch starting price | Entry configuration or qualification |
|---|---|---|
| Pixel 10 | $799 | Launch starting price |
| Pixel 10 Pro | $999 | Launch starting price |
| Pixel 10 Pro XL | $1,199 | 256GB base storage |
| Pixel 10 Pro Fold | $1,799 | Confirmed starting price |
Google’s launch document confirms the Pro at $999, the Pro XL at $1,199 with 256GB as its base, and the Pro Fold at $1,799: Google’s Pixel 10 launch information. AP rounded those prices to approximately $800, $1,000, $1,200 and $1,800 in its coverage: Associated Press.
The Pixel 10 Pro XL is the real pricing change
The Pixel 9 Pro XL was reported to start at $1,099 with 128GB. The Pixel 10 Pro XL starts at $1,199, but includes 256GB. That is a $100 higher entry price compared with the cheapest previous-generation configuration, alongside twice the storage.
- Calling it a $100 price hike is accurate when comparing the cheapest available Pro XL configurations.
- Calling prices unchanged is accurate only at the broad lineup or rounded model level, not for the lowest-cost Pro XL purchase.
- Calling it a storage upgrade explains why the change may be worthwhile for buyers who would have selected 256GB anyway.
The practical question is whether you would have paid for 256GB on the Pixel 9 Pro XL. If not, Google eliminated the cheaper way to buy the large Pro phone. If yes, the Pixel 10 Pro XL gives you more storage at its entry point, though that does not automatically justify the extra $100 for every buyer.

What happened to the Pixel 10 Pro Fold rumor?
Early reports were inconsistent. One estimate suggested the foldable might start near $1,600, while a later leak listed a 256GB model at $1,799 and speculated about a 1TB version near $2,149. Google confirmed the $1,799 starting price, so the $1,600 figure was not an actual launch discount.
The possible 1TB price remains a pre-launch leak rather than the standard consumer-facing starting price. Treat the confirmed $1,799 figure as the relevant comparison with the Pixel 9 Pro Fold’s launch price.

Google AI Pro changes the first-year value, not the MSRP
Google offered buyers of the Pixel 10 Pro, Pixel 10 Pro XL or Pixel 10 Pro Fold a 12-month Google AI Pro promotion. Google’s launch terms assign that offer a stated value of $239.88, based on a $19.99 monthly price, and say the subscription renews at $19.99 per month after the promotional period unless canceled.

For the lowest upfront flagship price
The Pixel 10 starts at $799 at launch. Buyers seeking the lowest entry price should also compare the Pixel 10 Pro at $999, discounted Pixel 9 models and any current trade-in or carrier promotion. A later sale price is a different figure from the official launch MSRP.
For Pro cameras without the XL size
The Pixel 10 Pro’s $999 launch price avoids the Pro XL’s $1,199 entry point. Whether the XL’s larger display and battery are worth the additional $200 is a personal value judgment, not a universal pricing fact.
For a large screen and substantial storage
The Pro XL is most defensible for buyers who wanted 256GB or more. Its entry configuration doubles storage from the prior generation’s 128GB, which can help people who keep high-resolution video, large photo libraries, games or offline media on the phone.

For a foldable
The Pro Fold’s $1,799 launch price is for people specifically seeking its foldable design and inner display. It is not the value choice for buyers who simply want a lower-cost Pixel, and the leaked $2,149 1TB figure should not be treated as a confirmed standard price.
For Google services and AI features
The AI Pro offer matters most if you already use Gemini, Google One storage or related Gmail and Docs features and would otherwise pay for the subscription. Buyers who would not subscribe should value the phone using its hardware price alone.
How to compare the price you actually pay
Keep three numbers separate when shopping:
- Launch MSRP: Google’s official starting price, such as $1,199 for the 256GB Pixel 10 Pro XL.
- Current selling price: The price shown by Google Store or a retailer on the day you buy.
- Effective buyer cost: The selling price after a clearly identified sale, trade-in credit or carrier promotion.
For example, a Google Store promotion may lower the Pixel 10’s price temporarily, while a trade-in changes your out-of-pocket amount without changing the phone’s MSRP. Do not combine those figures with launch prices in a single comparison.
Bottom line on the Pixel 10 pricing rumor
Google did not impose a range-wide Pixel 10 price increase. The Pixel 10, Pixel 10 Pro and Pixel 10 Pro Fold kept headline starting prices broadly aligned with the Pixel 9 generation. The important exception was the Pixel 10 Pro XL: its 128GB entry tier disappeared, so the cheapest XL cost $1,199 instead of the previous generation’s $1,099, while storage doubled to 256GB. That is best understood as a higher entry cost paired with a configuration upgrade—not a simple across-the-board hike.
