The deal is a multiyear cloud-spending commitment by Palo Alto Networks to Google Cloud, reported by Reuters as approaching $10 billion—not a confirmed exact contract value and not a payment from Google to Palo Alto. Announced on December 19, 2025, the expanded partnership combines Google Cloud infrastructure and AI services with Palo Alto security products for AI workloads, cloud networks and remote access.

What the reported $10 billion deal means

Reuters reported that Palo Alto Networks had committed to pay Google Cloud an amount approaching $10 billion over several years. The companies declined to comment on the specific figure, so it should be treated as an attributed, approximate value rather than a confirmed contract price. The announcement itself described a broader strategic partnership expansion but did not publish exact financial terms.

That direction of payment matters: this is not Google buying Palo Alto Networks, nor a $10 billion grant or one-time acquisition payment. It is a reported commitment for Palo Alto to use Google Cloud, including for workloads and services connected to the partnership. Reuters said some spending would move existing Palo Alto offerings to Google Cloud and a sizable portion would support new AI services.

What the partnership covers

AI security with Prisma AIRS

Palo Alto Networks’ Prisma AIRS platform is intended to protect AI workloads and data on Google Cloud, including applications involving Vertex AI and Agent Engine. Palo Alto’s December 2025 announcement lists AI Posture Management, AI Runtime Security, AI Agent Security, AI Red Teaming and AI Model Security. These capabilities address different stages of AI use: identifying exposure, monitoring activity, securing agents and models, and testing defenses.

The announcement describes the intended product scope; it does not establish that every capability is automatically enabled for every Google Cloud customer. Organizations would still need to determine which products, configurations and services meet their requirements.

VM-Series software firewalls

Palo Alto Networks’ VM-Series provides software firewalls for public, private, hybrid and virtualized environments. The companies say deeper Google Cloud integrations will support inspection of network traffic and threat prevention. This is aimed at organizations that need firewall controls across cloud and other environments, rather than only at a single application or AI model.

Prisma SASE and remote access

Prisma SASE is Palo Alto’s approach to securing access and networking for remote users, branch offices and mobile devices. Under the expanded relationship, Prisma Access runs on Google’s network and uses Google Cloud Interconnect for multi-cloud connectivity. The combination is intended to connect users and applications while applying security controls, including when workloads span cloud environments.

Migration and internal use

Reuters reported that part of the commitment will fund migration of existing Palo Alto offerings to Google Cloud, with a sizable share going toward new AI services. Palo Alto’s announcement also says key internal workloads are moving to Google Cloud and that Vertex AI and Gemini power its copilots. Those internal and product-development uses help explain how the partnership can involve both cloud consumption and joint offerings.

Why the agreement matters to cloud and security customers

For Google Cloud, the partnership reinforces its position as a platform for enterprise infrastructure, AI development and security services. For Palo Alto Networks, it means a large, multiyear cloud commitment and deeper integration and distribution of its security products through Google’s environment. The companies’ stated aim is to make security more closely connected to building and operating AI systems.

For customers, the practical question is whether the combined services fit their existing architecture and security needs. An organization already using Google Cloud may value closer integration for AI workloads or network security. A company running a mixed-cloud environment may care more about multi-cloud access and how consistently its controls work across providers. A buyer should assess product coverage, deployment effort and operations—not assume that the partnership itself guarantees a particular security outcome.

  • AI workload protection: Check which AI models, agents, data flows and runtime environments are covered by the products under consideration.
  • Cloud and network fit: Map whether the need is a cloud firewall, remote-user access, branch networking, multi-cloud connectivity or some combination.
  • Procurement: Palo Alto and Google reported more than 75 joint integrations and $2 billion in Google Cloud Marketplace sales in the December 2025 announcement. Those are company-reported partnership figures, not a measure of savings or guaranteed availability for an individual buyer.
  • Migration and operations: Estimate the work to move services, configure policies and manage security across environments. A closer integration can reduce friction in some workflows, but does not eliminate implementation and oversight.
  • Contract transparency: The reported near-$10-billion commitment is not a publicly confirmed exact figure, so it should not be treated as a disclosed purchase price.

How to read the Marketplace figures

The announcement’s December 2025 figure of $2 billion in Google Cloud Marketplace sales is distinct from Palo Alto Networks’ April 2025 report of more than $1.5 billion in cumulative Marketplace sales. These are figures reported by Palo Alto at different dates, and the releases may use different scopes; they should not be presented as directly comparable growth measurements.

The April release also reported 31 Marketplace listings, 20 technical documents or reference architectures, and 75 solution integrations. In December, Palo Alto reported more than 75 joint integrations. These figures describe the companies’ Marketplace and integration footprint as reported at those respective dates, not the value of the multiyear cloud-spending commitment.

Does this affect individual consumers or personal finances?

This is an enterprise technology agreement, not a consumer purchase, subscription announcement or change to a personal Google account. The available announcement does not establish that the deal will change consumer prices, personal cloud storage terms or household bills. Its direct audience is organizations buying, building or securing cloud and AI systems.

For a personal-finance reader, the useful distinction is between an announced business partnership and a confirmed financial figure: the exact contract value was not disclosed by the companies, while the near-$10-billion estimate was attributed to Reuters. The deal alone does not provide enough information to draw conclusions about either company’s future financial performance.

What is confirmed—and what remains approximate

Item What was reported Qualification
Contract commitment Approaching $10 billion over several years Reuters report based on a source with direct knowledge; neither company confirmed the specific figure.
Joint integrations and Marketplace sales More than 75 integrations; $2 billion in Google Cloud Marketplace sales Palo Alto Networks’ December 2025 announcement; company-reported figures.
Earlier Marketplace milestone More than $1.5 billion in cumulative Marketplace sales Palo Alto Networks’ April 2025 release; it may have a different scope from the later figure.
Customer count More than 70,000 organizations worldwide Palo Alto Networks’ company boilerplate in the December 2025 announcement; not an independently audited market statistic.
