GoDaddy announced Cloud Servers and Bitnami-powered Cloud Applications on March 21, 2016, targeting developers and IT professionals building technology for small businesses. Although the launch was offered in 53 markets and 26 languages, GoDaddy said its data centers were in the United States only. The service was later retired, with separate 2017 end dates for Bitnami apps and other servers.
What were GoDaddy Cloud Servers?
GoDaddy pitched Cloud Servers as developer-oriented cloud infrastructure for individual developers, tech entrepreneurs, and IT professionals building, testing, and scaling cloud solutions for small businesses. Its announcement described infrastructure built on OpenStack and KVM virtualization with solid-state drives (SSDs). It offered API and web-interface controls, server cloning and snapshots, and integration with GoDaddy Domains and DNS. Billing was described as hourly, with an optional monthly spending limit.
GoDaddy listed Ubuntu 14.04, CentOS 6 and 7, Fedora 23, Debian 8, FreeBSD, CoreOS, and Arch Linux as available operating systems. The company said servers could be provisioned in 54 seconds or less and advertised a 99.9% uptime guarantee. Those figures were launch claims in GoDaddy’s announcement, not independent measurements of provisioning speed or uptime.
GoDaddy’s March 21, 2016 announcement framed the product as a way to make cloud hosting easier for developers serving small businesses.

What did Bitnami apps add?
Bitnami supplied one-click installations of applications that GoDaddy described as optimized for its Cloud Servers. The examples spanned several common business needs:
- Content management: WordPress and Drupal.
- Customer and business management: Odoo and OpenERP.
- E-commerce: OpenCart and Magento.
The practical distinction was that customers could choose an application image rather than start with a bare operating-system image and install the software themselves. GoDaddy’s release said Bitnami handled consistent, secure, optimized application installations. It also reported Bitnami’s figure of more than one million deployments per month; that was a company-provided number in the 2016 announcement, not a current or independently verified statistic.
Did “worldwide” mean data centers around the world?
No. GoDaddy said the offer was available in 53 markets and 26 languages, but also said its launch data centers were in the United States only. “Worldwide” described the markets and languages in which customers could access the offer, not a globally distributed data-center footprint.

When did GoDaddy Cloud Servers shut down?
TechCrunch reported in July 2017 that a customer memo set different support-ending dates for applications and the underlying server service:

| Service component | Reported support end date |
|---|---|
| Bitnami apps and images | November 15, 2017 |
| Other images and Cloud Servers | December 31, 2017 |
The dates come from the customer memo as reported by TechCrunch on July 20, 2017. The report said the memo advised customers to consider GoDaddy VPS plans. That was historical migration guidance, not confirmation of current plans, pricing, or availability.
