Short answer: Verizon really has offered 12 months of Netflix Standard with Ads and Max with Ads at no additional charge to customers taking select Verizon Home Internet plans, including some Fios tiers. It is not guaranteed for every address or customer today. Verizon’s live checkout must show the credit, and the streaming services are ad-supported—not the premium, ad-free tiers.
You still pay for Fios, taxes, equipment and any upgrades. Unless your offer says otherwise, expect the bundle to become a paid recurring perk after the promotional year.
What the Verizon Fios streaming deal includes
Verizon’s November 2024 promotional material described a 12-month offer for Netflix and Max with ads. Verizon’s legal terms identify the included services as Netflix Standard with Ads and Max with Ads (previously called HBO Max with Ads in some materials).
- Netflix Standard with Ads, not Netflix Premium.
- Max with Ads, not an ad-free Max tier or Max Ultimate.
- Separate registration for each service through Verizon’s activation flow.
- One promotion per eligible line or internet account, subject to the applicable terms.
The base offer does not promise ad-free viewing, the highest video quality, downloads or the largest simultaneous-streaming allowance. Max says customers can upgrade to a higher tier for an additional charge through the Verizon arrangement; Netflix upgrade options and pricing must be checked in your account.

Is 12 months free still available?
The promotion was genuine, but availability is time-sensitive. A January 29, 2025 report described a Fios 1 Gig offer with the streaming bundle free for 12 months, and a May 2026 roundup reported the offer on select Fios 1 Gig and 2 Gig plans. Those reports do not establish a universal offer for every customer in October 2026.
Verizon’s current Fios sales page prominently presents the regular Netflix-and-Max perk as a paid monthly option alongside plan-specific promotions. Enter your service address, choose a plan and read the offer summary and checkout terms. If the line does not explicitly show a 12-month credit, assume you are seeing the standard paid perk instead.
What can change eligibility
- Your address and local Fios availability.
- The exact plan selected; reported offers have centered on select Fios 1 Gig and 2 Gig tiers.
- Whether you are a new customer, upgrading, or already have an incompatible Verizon perk.
- The promotion’s expiration date and enrollment deadline.
Some Verizon Home Internet promotions have also included 5G Home Plus or LTE Home Plus, but do not assume those services qualify for this Fios offer without seeing the current terms.

There is no permanent “all gigabit plans qualify” rule. The evidence links the offer to select plans, with Fios 1 Gig specifically reported in 2025 and Fios 1 Gig and 2 Gig reported in 2026 secondary coverage. Treat those as indications, not a promise for your address.

Do not upgrade to gigabit internet solely for streaming if a lower tier meets your household’s needs. Multiple simultaneous users, large downloads, gaming and work-from-home traffic can justify faster service; streaming alone rarely requires gigabit speeds.
What “free” means on your Verizon bill
The streaming portion may be covered by a Verizon credit for 12 months. The Fios service itself is not free. Your total bill can still include the internet plan, taxes, equipment, installation, premium support, speed upgrades and other services.
Auto Pay, paperless billing or an existing Verizon mobile relationship can change the internet price independently of the entertainment credit. A January 2025 report quoted $89.99 per month for Fios 1 Gig, or $79.99 with Auto Pay and paperless billing; those are historical figures, not October 2026 pricing. Use the amount shown for your address at checkout.
Verizon’s public pages have shown different regular prices for the Netflix-and-Max perk: the current Fios sales page has displayed $10 per month, while a Verizon FAQ result has displayed $13. The difference may reflect plan, account or price changes. Do not budget either amount until your offer terms state the exact renewal price.
How to claim and activate the promotion
- Order or upgrade to the Fios plan whose checkout page displays the 12-month Netflix-and-Max credit.
- Complete installation and activate your Fios service.
- Open the promotion in My Verizon under Services & Perks, or use the activation email or text Verizon sends.
- Enroll by the deadline printed in your offer. Deadlines vary; historical Verizon promotions used different enrollment and registration windows.
- Register Netflix and Max separately. Choose “link an existing account” if you want to keep your profiles and viewing history, or create new accounts.
- Review each service’s billing screen to confirm Verizon is covering the included tier rather than a separate direct subscription.
- Record the enrollment date, promotion end date and post-promotion price in a calendar.
Netflix’s activation instructions confirm that Verizon customers receive an email or text link and can connect an existing account.

Using existing Netflix and Max subscriptions
Netflix
You can generally link an existing Netflix account during Verizon activation. Do not create a second account if you want to retain profiles and watch history. If Apple or another third party bills your Netflix account, Netflix says you may need to cancel that billing arrangement after linking the Verizon package. A higher Netflix tier may cost extra, and availability depends on the specific Verizon offer.
Max
Verizon’s terms say a directly billed Max account may need to be replaced by the Verizon perk. A Max subscription billed through Apple, a cable company or another provider may not be canceled automatically. Check the old provider’s account separately so two subscriptions do not run at once.

What happens after the 12 months?
Unless your offer expressly states a different outcome, expect the bundle to renew at Verizon’s then-current monthly price after the credit ends. Historical coverage cited $10 per month, while Verizon’s current materials show inconsistent $10 and $13 signals. Your signed offer controls.
Cancel through My Verizon online or in the My Verizon app before the first paid renewal if you do not want the bundle. A Fios cancellation or move to an ineligible plan can end the credit; check the terms before changing service. A plan change can also trigger a different perk or immediate paid billing.

A 2025 article estimated about $196 using prices displayed at that time. Streaming prices change, so that estimate is historical. The more useful calculation is your incremental Fios cost: compare the qualifying plan’s total price, including taxes and equipment, with the cheaper plan you would otherwise buy, then subtract only the streaming value you would genuinely use.
If you already pay for both services and want gigabit Fios, the credit can be meaningful. If you would select a more expensive internet tier only to obtain two ad-supported subscriptions, the “free” year may cost more than buying streaming services directly.

More attractive when
- You already want Fios 1 Gig or 2 Gig and the credit is visible in checkout.
- You currently pay for both Netflix and Max.
- Ads are acceptable and you do not need premium video features.
- The full Fios price remains competitive after Auto Pay discounts and other promotions end.
- You will set a reminder before the paid renewal.
Less attractive when
- You need ad-free Netflix or Max.
- You already receive one service through another bundle.
- You would buy gigabit service solely for streaming.
- You do not want Verizon to manage the streaming billing relationship.
- The offer is absent from your address-specific checkout or the renewal price is unclear.
Troubleshooting missing credits and unexpected charges
The promotion does not appear in My Verizon
- Confirm the selected plan and address were eligible.
- Wait until Fios installation and activation finish.
- Check Services & Perks, your order confirmation and activation messages.
- Verify that the enrollment deadline has not passed and that another Verizon perk is not blocking eligibility.
- Contact Verizon and ask specifically about the Netflix & Max promotional perk. Do not open separate Netflix or Max subscriptions while the issue is unresolved.
You are charged after activation
Check whether registration was completed, whether the credit started on a date different from installation, whether you selected a paid tier upgrade, whether an old third-party subscription remained active, whether the 12 months ended, or whether you changed to an ineligible Fios plan.

You cancel or change Fios
Review the perk terms before making the change. Verizon may stop the credit when the internet account is canceled or moved to an ineligible tier, and the streaming services may then become paid subscriptions or stop entirely.
Alternatives if the free year is unavailable
You can buy Netflix at Netflix’s signup page and Max at Max’s direct site. Direct billing can be preferable if you want an ad-free tier or do not want streaming tied to Verizon. If you use Verizon’s regular perk instead, verify the exact monthly price shown for your account; public Verizon pages have displayed both $10 and $13.
Whichever route you choose, keep only one active subscription for each service. Rotating one service at a time can also reduce annual streaming costs if you do not watch both continuously.
Bottom line
The Verizon Fios Netflix-and-Max promotion is real, but “12 months free” is a targeted, time-limited credit—not a permanent benefit or free internet. Take it when your address-specific checkout clearly lists the credit, you already want the qualifying Fios speed and you are comfortable with ad-supported plans. Save the renewal date, confirm that old subscriptions are canceled or migrated, and compare the full Fios cost before ordering.
