The launch figures are documented by Android Headlines. The $300, $370 and open-box figures came from a 9to5Google deal report published April 30, 2026. Samsung’s U.S. buying page lists the 128GB and 256GB Wi‑Fi configurations at Samsung.com.
Did Samsung permanently cut the price?
There is no evidence here of a permanent U.S. MSRP reduction. The April figures describe retailer promotions, while the $349 number is the original U.S. launch starting price. A store may show a higher “list” or comparison price even when Samsung’s own pricing history is different.
Treat coupons, memberships, trade-in credits and financing as conditional discounts rather than the tablet’s ordinary cash price. Open-box inventory is also a separate category: packaging may be incomplete, cosmetic wear is possible, and warranty or return coverage can differ. Samsung’s corporate specifications document confirms the display, memory and storage limits, microSD capacity, software versions and physical dimensions: 2026 first-quarter interim report. The S Pen is normally in the retail package, but verify the exact listing before checkout because marketplace inventory can be sold as tablet-only.
Is the 256GB model worth $70 more?
At the reported sale prices, the 256GB version cost $70 more than the 128GB version ($370 versus $300) and increased memory from 6GB to 8GB. That premium can be worthwhile if you keep downloaded movies, large games, photos or offline files on the tablet, or expect to keep it for several years.

The 128GB model is the better cash-saving choice for streaming, browsing, cloud documents, schoolwork and handwritten notes. A microSD card can hold media and other files, but it does not provide the same convenience as faster internal storage for apps and games. Compare the live prices: if the premium is still modest, 256GB offers more headroom; if it widens substantially, 128GB plus expandable storage is more economical.
Wi‑Fi or 5G?
The $349 U.S. launch price applies to Wi‑Fi, not cellular service. European launch reporting lists 5G prices of €459 for 128GB and €529 for 256GB, but it did not establish U.S. 5G availability or pricing. Do not buy the Wi‑Fi model expecting to add cellular service later; choose a verified 5G listing if built-in mobile data is essential.

Students and note-takers

Travelers and media users

Families and budget buyers
Compare a new unit with open-box stock only after checking the seller, warranty, return window and cosmetic condition. A lower open-box price is not equivalent to a new retail package.
