FS-ISAC announced its 2024 Global Board of Directors on June 18, 2024: four newly elected directors, two re-elected incumbents, and Bank of America CISO Kris Fador as chair. The announcement describes a member-election process and a board responsible for overseeing global activity—not a current board roster.

What FS-ISAC announced

The Reston, Virginia-based organization said the six named directors joined nine existing directors. It called the announcement its 2024 global board and said the board would oversee FS-ISAC’s global activity while coordinating with its Europe board and UK Strategic Subsidiary Board. The release does not establish that the named directors remain in those roles today.

FS-ISAC described itself as a member-driven, not-for-profit organization focused on cybersecurity and resilience across the global financial system. Its 2024 announcement said member financial firms represented $100 trillion in assets across 75 countries at that time; that is a dated figure reported by the organization, not a current measure.

Who was named to the 2024 board?

The announcement distinguished first-time elections from re-elections. Kyle Davis and Steve Sparkes were incumbents who were re-elected, not newly elected directors.

Newly elected directors

Director Organization Role stated in the announcement
Kristina Dorville TIH Chief Information Security Officer
Debbie Janeczek Swift Chief Security Officer
Susan Koski PNC Chief Information Security Officer and Head of Enterprise Information Security
Bethany Netzel CME Group Managing Director, Operational Resilience and Global Security

Re-elected directors

Director Organization Role stated in the announcement
Kyle Davis Target Corporation Cyber Fusion Center Principal
Steve Sparkes Scotiabank EVP, Chief Information Security Officer and Enterprise Platforms

Kris Fador, Bank of America’s chief information security officer, was named chair. The release also quoted Fador, Netzel, Janeczek, Sparkes, and then-CEO Steven Silberstein on information sharing, preparation, resilience, and trust. Those comments set out the organization’s aims; they are not evidence of measured results.

How candidates were selected

Although the release used “appointments” in its title, it said board seats were filled through nomination and member election rather than unilateral executive appointment:

  1. Candidates applied to the Board Nominating Committee.
  2. The committee assessed leadership qualifications and demonstrated commitment to FS-ISAC’s work.
  3. It considered diversity of skills, experience, subsector, geography, and background when assembling a slate.
  4. FS-ISAC members elected the nominees.

What the board was expected to oversee

FS-ISAC said the board would support real-time information sharing, strategic incident response, management of emerging risks, industry best practices, and trust among clients, customers, regulators, investors, and other stakeholders. Its remit also included coordinating global activity with the organization’s Europe board and UK Strategic Subsidiary Board.

The director list brought together senior security and resilience leaders from organizations with different roles in or around financial services. That breadth can inform sector-wide discussion, but the announcement does not establish that the board statistically represents the financial sector or that the appointments produced specific policy changes or security outcomes.

Why FS-ISAC cited a changing risk environment

FS-ISAC framed the 2024 election against rapidly changing technology, rising geopolitical tension, increasingly complex financial-sector risks, and growing reliance on digital technology. The release presented these as reasons for leadership focused on preparedness and collaboration; it did not tie the appointments to a particular attack or claim a quantified reduction in cyber risk.

How to read the announcement now

This is a historical account of the 2024 board announcement, not a current director list. FS-ISAC’s newsroom includes later announcements, including a September 2025 announcement naming Valerie Abend as the next CEO. The changing leadership record is a reason not to infer current board or executive roles from the 2024 release. Consult the FS-ISAC newsroom for later announcements.
