Fort Worth is seeking to attract Harting Connectivity with a proposed tax abatement for a manufacturing operation and U.S. headquarters in the city. Fort Worth Inc. reported a commitment of at least $192.7 million in investment and 700 full-time jobs, alongside a staff recommendation for a 10-year abatement of up to 65%. A city notice confirms the City Council was scheduled to consider the deal on September 29, 2026; a later secondary report says council voted to offer it, but the official notice does not confirm the result or final agreement.
What company and project is Fort Worth trying to attract?
The company is Harting Connectivity, a German industrial connectivity business. Fort Worth Inc. reported that Harting was considering moving its U.S. headquarters and manufacturing operations from Elgin, Illinois, to Fort Worth as part of a multiphase expansion. The proposed operation would include cable and component assembly, production, research and development, and corporate functions. (Fort Worth Inc.)
The proposed location is three existing industrial buildings at Carter Crossing Industrial Park, near Wichita Drive and Interstate 20, in City Council District 8. Fort Worth Inc. described about 700,000 square feet of manufacturing space and more than one million square feet of vacant space available for the overall project. The site should be treated as proposed, not confirmed as Harting’s final selection. (Fort Worth Inc.)
What did Harting reportedly commit to?
Fort Worth Inc. reported that Harting’s commitment was at least $192.7 million in capital investment by December 31, 2031: $31.1 million in real property and $161.6 million in business personal property. The report also put the planned job total at 700 full-time positions, including 189 headquarters jobs, with an initial average wage of $87,000. City staff expected the minimum average wage to exceed $100,000 during the proposed 10-year agreement. These are reported proposal figures, not verified results. (Fort Worth Inc.)

A later Yahoo Finance article republishing The Real Deal describes different milestones: investment by the end of 2028 and full job creation by 2034. The accounts may describe different versions or summarize terms differently; the final agreement or council record is needed to establish which deadlines and conditions govern. (Yahoo Finance / The Real Deal)
How large is the proposed tax break?
Fort Worth Inc. reported that city staff recommended a 10-year abatement of up to 65% on real and business personal property taxes, conditional on Harting meeting investment, employment, and wage requirements. The outlet put the estimated incentive at about $6 million, or $4.2 million in net present value. The 65% figure is the recommended maximum, not a claim that all eligible taxes would necessarily be waived. (Fort Worth Inc.)

| Reported item | Figure and meaning |
|---|---|
| Project capital investment | At least $192.7 million, as reported by Fort Worth Inc. in 2026: $31.1 million in real property and $161.6 million in business personal property. (Fort Worth Inc.) |
| Recommended abatement | Up to 65% for 10 years on real and business personal property taxes, subject to requirements; staff recommendation reported by Fort Worth Inc. in 2026. (Fort Worth Inc.) |
| Estimated incentive value | About $6 million, or $4.2 million in net present value, as estimated in Fort Worth Inc.’s 2026 report. (Fort Worth Inc.) |
| Projected net new city taxes | About $3.2 million over the agreement’s life after incentive payments, a city staff forecast reported by Fort Worth Inc. in 2026—not realized revenue. (Fort Worth Inc.) |
What does the city expect to receive in return?
According to Fort Worth Inc., city staff projected the city would be cash-positive in the first year, recover the incentive value five years into the term, and collect about $3.2 million in net new taxes over the agreement’s life after incentive payments. Those are forecasts reported by the outlet, not guaranteed returns or observed outcomes. (Fort Worth Inc.)
The city’s general policy says abatements apply to eligible property based on value added, identifies manufacturing as a target industry, and gives City Council sole authority to approve or deny an agreement. Its stated general terms allow consideration of a 10-year agreement for projects with at least $100 million invested or more than 500 jobs. Harting’s reported project exceeds both thresholds, but meeting the policy thresholds does not itself establish approval. (City of Fort Worth tax abatement policy)

Did Fort Worth City Council approve the deal?
The City of Fort Worth’s public notice says the Council was scheduled to consider the Harting tax-abatement agreement on September 29, 2026. It establishes the scheduled consideration, not the vote’s outcome. (City of Fort Worth public notice)
An October 2 Yahoo Finance article republishing The Real Deal says council voted to offer the abatement. The official notice reviewed here does not confirm that vote or provide an executed agreement, so the final approval status and binding terms are not independently confirmed by that notice. Why is Harting considering Fort Worth?
Fort Worth Inc. reported that Harting was also weighing locations in other states, some offering larger incentives. The report identified the company’s existing imports and access to ocean shipping routes as factors in the competition. It does not establish that Fort Worth has secured the project.
