A former Campbell’s cybersecurity analyst, Robert Garza, sued the company and two individuals, alleging he was fired after reporting racist and disparaging comments he says an executive made during a recorded meeting. Campbell’s said it believed the voice on the recording was the executive’s, apologized for the comments, and said he was no longer employed by the company as of November 25, 2025. The reported coverage does not establish a later court ruling or the lawsuit’s status as of October 4, 2026.

What Garza says happened

Garza’s lawsuit, filed in Michigan, names Campbell’s, Martin Bally, and supervisor J.D. Aupperle. As described in contemporaneous reports, the complaint alleges that Bally made racist comments about Indian workers and disparaged Campbell’s products, and that Garza was fired after he reported those remarks. Those claims are allegations in a complaint, not findings by a court.

The reported meeting took place in November 2024. Garza said he recorded it and reported Bally’s comments to his supervisor in January. The Associated Press report carried by WHYY says Garza said he was fired on January 30, 2025. WDIV aired part of a recording provided by Garza.

Garza’s attorney, Zachary Runyan, described his work history this way: “He had never had any disciplinary action, they had never written him up for work performance.” That is the attorney’s characterization, as reported by WNKY’s WDIV coverage; it is not a court determination.

What Campbell’s said about the recording and Bally

Campbell’s said it reviewed portions of the recording and believed the voice was Bally’s. The Philadelphia Inquirer reproduced the company’s statement: “After a review, we believe the voice on the recording is in fact Martin Bally.” The Associated Press report carried by WHYY quoted Campbell’s apology: “The comments were vulgar, offensive and false, and we apologize for the hurt they have caused.”

Campbell’s also said Bally was no longer employed as of November 25, 2025. That is the company’s reported employment update; it does not establish whether the lawsuit was resolved or what action a court took.

What the reports say about Campbell’s soup ingredients

The recording story drew attention to claims about the company’s food. Campbell’s disputed them and said its soups do not contain 3D-printed, lab-grown, artificial, or bioengineered meat. The company’s website answer, reproduced by the Philadelphia Inquirer, stated: “No. We do not use 3D-printed chicken, lab-grown chicken, or any form of artificial or bioengineered meat in our soups.” This is Campbell’s statement; the cited reports do not provide independent laboratory testing.

What the lawsuit seeks—and what remains unknown

The Associated Press reported that Garza sought monetary damages. The November 2025 reporting identifies the lawsuit as Michigan case number 25-018465-CD, but the available reports do not establish its later procedural history or outcome. Without a current Wayne County Circuit Court docket check, it would be inaccurate to describe the case as still pending, dismissed, settled, or decided.

For readers following the story, the key distinction is between the claims in Garza’s complaint, Campbell’s public statements, and a court’s eventual action. The contemporaneous reports establish the first two; they do not report a later ruling.
