Flipkart Minutes is expanding beyond metro convenience shopping: the company says its service now spans more than 150 cities and nearly 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres, with growth increasingly coming from smaller cities and categories beyond daily essentials. Those figures come from Flipkart’s September 11, 2026 update; they describe the company’s own reported operations, not an independent measure of market share or profitability.
What Flipkart Minutes is—and how quickly it has expanded
Flipkart launched Minutes in August 2024 as its quick-commerce service. In its September 11, 2026 update, Flipkart reported nearly 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres across more than 150 cities and 4X year-on-year growth. The company also said around 60% of its Minutes customers return to shop on the service. These are company-reported operating figures, not independently audited industry statistics. Flipkart’s September 2026 update
A June 24, 2026 company announcement provides a dated earlier milestone: Flipkart said it had crossed 1,000 centres across more than 130 cities and 8,000-plus pincodes, while orders had grown 5X from the previous year. It also described Tier 2 and Tier 3 markets as having reached 42X scale compared with the prior year, without defining the measure in a way that supports interpreting it as market share or total market demand. Flipkart’s June 2026 announcement
The two updates show the pace and direction of Flipkart’s stated rollout, but their growth metrics are not interchangeable: one refers to year-on-year growth in the September update, while the June release separately reports order growth and a Tier 2/3 scale comparison.

Why smaller cities are central to the strategy
Flipkart’s September update said its Tier 2+ customer base had grown nearly 25X year-on-year. It named Ambala, Barabanki, Bhagalpur, Durgapur, Kanpur, Roorkee, Siliguri, Salem and Tiruppur among markets with high growth. The company also reported nearly 5X year-on-year growth in its Gen Z customer base. These figures signal where Flipkart says adoption is accelerating; they do not establish how the service compares with rivals in each city. Flipkart’s September 2026 update
In a June 2026 interview, Flipkart executives told Moneycontrol that grocery basket values in Tier 2 and Tier 3 cities on Minutes were already higher than in metros. That is a company-specific executive comparison, not evidence that smaller-city baskets are larger across India’s quick-commerce sector. Moneycontrol’s June 2026 interview

Minutes is broadening beyond groceries
Flipkart’s June 2026 announcement described more than 250 categories on Minutes. By September, the company reported year-on-year growth of 8X in gourmet and specialty grocery, nearly 6X in men’s grooming and 5X in pet food. It said Gen Z accounted for more than 45% of orders across several named non-grocery categories, including personal care, electronics, home and lifestyle, and fashion. These growth and customer-mix figures are Flipkart’s claims, not independently verified category rankings. Flipkart’s September 2026 update Flipkart’s June 2026 announcement
The company says Minutes is being used for shopping occasions beyond replenishing household basics. Its September update cited a largest single order worth ₹6 lakh, containing five smartphones. That is an individual high-value order, not a typical basket or a guide to what customers usually spend.

Historical figures help show how the service’s stated ambitions have evolved, but should not be mistaken for current totals. In an August 2025 first-year release, Flipkart reported more than 900 categories, operations in 19 cities and more than 2,900 pincodes. It also cited nearly five lakh mobile units sold in the preceding year, close to 20 lakh consumer-electronics units delivered, close to 200 D2C brand partners and more than 1,000 farmer-producer organisations. Those are figures from that 2025 announcement, not updated September 2026 counts. Flipkart’s August 2025 first-year update
How Flipkart’s figures compare with older competitor disclosures
Quick commerce is a competitive market, but the available company disclosures are from different dates and use different metrics. A direct ranking based on them would be misleading.

|---|---|---|
| Flipkart Minutes, September 11, 2026 (Flipkart) | Nearly 1,200 micro-fulfilment centres in more than 150 cities | The update reports expansion; it does not provide one universal delivery-time promise |
| Instamart, March 17, 2025 (Swiggy) | 100 cities and more than 30,000 products | Swiggy’s announcement described 10-minute deliveries; its company boilerplate said 10–15 minutes |

City-level coverage does not guarantee that Minutes serves a particular neighbourhood or PIN code. Flipkart’s service page asks customers to check their PIN code and says availability and delivery times can vary with location, inventory, traffic and demand. What the expansion does—and does not—show
Minutes’ reported footprint and category growth point to Flipkart’s effort to make quick delivery a broader retail channel and extend it into smaller cities. They do not, on their own, prove that the model is profitable, that it is gaining share from competitors, or that a fast-growing category is already a large part of total sales. Establishing those conclusions would require comparable independent data that the cited company updates do not provide.
