Yes. Fisker’s U.S. companies filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in June 2024, and a Delaware bankruptcy court confirmed a liquidation plan on October 16, 2024. The court-approved documents cover a sale of Fisker’s vehicle fleet, a limited process for certain recall repairs, and a time-limited license for the Fisker Ocean’s connected environment. They do not guarantee that every owner can obtain repairs, warranty service, or working software features. Fisker told the SEC it expected existing common stock to be cancelled with no recovery through the cases.
Did Fisker file for bankruptcy?
Yes. Fisker Group Inc., a subsidiary of Fisker Inc., filed a voluntary Chapter 11 case in the U.S. Bankruptcy Court for the District of Delaware on June 17, 2024. Fisker Inc. and its other U.S. subsidiaries filed on June 19. The cases were jointly administered as In re: Fisker Inc., et al., Case No. 24-11390 (TMH). Fisker’s June 2024 SEC filing described the company’s initial debtor-in-possession posture, which applied at the opening of the case and should not be read as evidence of ordinary ongoing operations.
The court confirmed a joint Chapter 11 plan of liquidation on October 16, 2024. The plan documents a fleet sale to American Lease and liquidation-related trusts and transactions. A docket index listed post-confirmation activity through September 21, 2026, including motions involving the liquidating trustee. That indicates case administration continued into 2026; it does not establish when the case will close or the amount any particular claimant may receive.
What the filing’s financial estimates mean
The Associated Press reported that Fisker Group’s bankruptcy filing estimated assets of $500 million to $1 billion, liabilities of $100 million to $500 million, and 200 to 999 creditors. These were estimates and a creditor-count range reported from the filing—not final sale proceeds, a final balance sheet, or a measure of creditor recoveries. The Associated Press’s filing report also attributed this statement to Fisker: “Like other companies in the electric vehicle industry, we have faced various market and macroeconomic headwinds that have impacted our ability to operate efficiently.” That was the company’s explanation, not a court finding.

What happens to Fisker Ocean owners after bankruptcy?
The plan and its attachments address some owner support, but they do not establish a universal service network or assure that a particular repair shop, part, or feature is available to every owner. The court-approved materials provide a process for seeking certain recall-related repairs through an authorized dealer or another service provider. Whether a specific repair can be completed depends on the repair’s scope and the provider’s actual availability and capability.
If you need work on an Ocean, check the vehicle’s recall status and ask a provider to confirm in writing that it can service your model and perform the particular repair. Confirm availability, location, parts, cost, and any conditions tied to connected services before authorizing work. The bankruptcy plan does not identify independent repair providers to recommend.

Is my Fisker Ocean warranty still valid?
The plan’s warranty language is specific. It says the debtors are not assuming certain warranty obligations under rejected contracts, while separately preserving certain warranties provided to or for the benefit of the debtors. That wording does not support either a blanket claim that all Fisker warranties are void or a promise that all warranties remain intact. It may also not resolve every owner’s rights under a particular warranty or other agreement.
For a disputed claim, review the actual warranty documents and the plan provisions that apply to it, then get advice from a qualified consumer or bankruptcy lawyer if the amount at stake warrants it. Do not assume the plan’s treatment of specified obligations settles every separate claim.

Will Fisker Ocean software updates still work?
The confirmation materials include an October 11, 2024 agreement for a five-year, non-exclusive license of the Fisker Ocean connected environment, running from January 1, 2025 through December 31, 2029. The agreement describes the environment as supplied “as is” and sets out support obligations within the agreement’s scope, including an exclusion for vehicles whose owners elect not to remain under the connected environment. The docket listing for the confirmation materials identifies the court filings containing the plan and related documents.
The license establishes an arrangement, not proof that a given app, remote function, update, or other feature currently works or that every owner has equal access. The term sheet states that the arrangement is provided on an “as is,” “where is” basis, without representations, warranties, or indemnities. That qualification applies to the license arrangement; it does not by itself determine every separate relationship between an owner and another party.
