Inventprise, a clinical-stage vaccine developer based in Redmond, Washington, reported plans to eliminate 76 positions, according to coverage of a Washington Employment Security Department layoff notice. The affected workforce includes employees in Redmond and Woodinville and some remote workers, with the first separations scheduled for December 31, 2025. Reports identify manufacturing, quality control, research and development, and technical jobs among those affected.
The notice does not explain why the cuts were made or establish that Inventprise is closing a facility, ending a clinical program, or reducing its operations permanently.

What the filing says
| Item | Reported information |
|---|---|
| Employees affected | 76, according to reporting on a Washington Employment Security Department notice |
| First separation date | December 31, 2025 |
| Locations | Redmond and Woodinville, Washington, plus some remote workers |
| Job categories cited | Manufacturing, quality control, research and development, and technical roles |
| Reason for layoffs | Not stated in the available reporting |
GeekWire reported the 76-person figure from the state filing, while KIRO 7/MyNorthwest also described layoffs affecting the company’s Redmond and Woodinville operations.
The available reports do not establish the original notice date separately from the effective date. Third-party WARN databases list inconsistent Inventprise entries, which could reflect duplicate, amended, or separately entered records. Those aggregations should not be treated as proof of a larger cumulative layoff without the original state documents.

How large is the reduction?
GeekWire described Inventprise as having nearly 200 employees based on LinkedIn data. On that approximate, unaudited denominator, 76 positions would equal about 38% of the workforce. That is an indication of scale, not a verified company-wide reduction rate: LinkedIn headcount can differ from payroll headcount, and the notice does not establish the company’s total employment at the time.
What Inventprise does
Founded in 2012 by Subhash Kapre, Inventprise develops investigational vaccines for infectious diseases and says it is focused on broad protection and global access, including in low- and middle-income countries. The company is headquartered in Redmond. Its pipeline page identifies IVT PCV-25 as its lead program.
Lead pneumococcal vaccine
IVT PCV-25 is a 25-valent pneumococcal conjugate vaccine candidate. Inventprise lists adult and infant versions in Phase 2 development. The company announced in January 2024 that participants had completed vaccination in a Phase 2 dose-ranging study; that announcement describes a study milestone, not regulatory approval or proof that the vaccine is effective.
Other candidates
The company’s pipeline also lists investigational programs targeting Group B Streptococcus, Shigella, Klebsiella, RSV and other infectious diseases. In February 2026, Inventprise announced positive interim Phase 1/2 results for its hexavalent maternal Group B strep candidate, IVT GBS-06. That company-reported update shows that development activity continued after the reported separation date, but it does not show whether staffing, spending, manufacturing capacity or timelines were unaffected by the layoffs.

In May 2025, Inventprise said it selected Quantoom Biosciences’ Ntensify technology to support mRNA vaccine development. The announcement indicates a technology collaboration, not a guarantee that an mRNA candidate will advance or reach the market.
Where the affected work is based
Inventprise’s contact page lists multiple sites. The company describes Redmond locations for development, Phase 1 product manufacturing and small-scale current good manufacturing practice (cGMP) work. It identifies Woodinville as the site for large-scale manufacturing.
Rank #2
Inventprise says its Woodinville operation is a 70,000-square-foot automated cGMP facility with cleanrooms, analytical testing, warehousing and a 1,000-liter water-for-injection generator. The company says the site is intended to support IVT PCV-25 and future global supply. Because the reported cuts include manufacturing positions, the facility is relevant context; however, no available source says the plant is closing, idling or operating below capacity.

Inventprise announced in 2021 that the Gates Foundation committed up to $90 million through a program-related investment to advance its 25-valent pneumococcal vaccine candidate. A 2022 company announcement described an initial $30 million tranche. Those figures come from Inventprise’s own announcements and do not establish the company’s current cash position or overall financial condition.
The available information does not show that Gates Foundation support was reduced, withdrawn or directly connected to the layoffs. Nor does it connect the job cuts to a particular clinical result, financing event, regulatory decision or manufacturing milestone.
What remains unknown
- Why Inventprise decided to eliminate the positions.
- Whether all 76 planned separations occurred, were amended or were staggered after December 31, 2025.
- Whether the company made additional layoffs in 2026, or rehired any affected workers.
- Whether severance, benefit continuation, relocation assistance or other support was offered.
- Whether any clinical-trial enrollment, regulatory filing, manufacturing schedule or facility activity changed.
- Whether the late-2025 WARN entries in third-party databases represent separate actions or duplicate and amended records.
No available report provides details about union representation, unemployment eligibility, immigration-related employment issues or current openings. Those questions require statements from Inventprise, Washington officials or affected workers rather than inference from the notice.
What the notice does—and does not—mean
A state layoff notice is evidence that a specified number of positions were reported for separation on a stated schedule. It is not, by itself, a bankruptcy filing, a plant-closure announcement or a declaration that a vaccine program has failed. Inventprise’s subsequent public pipeline and clinical updates show that the company continued to describe active development, while leaving the operational effect of the workforce reduction unresolved.
For now, the most supportable account is limited: 76 Inventprise workers were identified in reporting on a Washington state layoff filing, with first separations scheduled for December 31, 2025, across roles and sites in the Seattle region. The company has not publicly explained the cuts in the available coverage.
