European professional-audio brands Coda Audio, Waves System and Pequod Acoustics announced an Indian market launch through Mumbai-based distributor Alphatec at PALM Expo in late May 2023. The announcement covered distribution and market development—not Indian manufacturing, a disclosed joint venture, or proof that every listed product is still stocked nationwide in 2026.
What was announced at PALM Expo
The announcement was presented at the Bombay Exhibition Centre in Goregaon, Mumbai, during PALM Expo in late May 2023. Alphatec was identified as the Indian distribution partner for Coda Audio, Waves System and Pequod Acoustics. The companies said the arrangement would improve awareness and access to specialist professional-audio products in India.
The original release is dated May 29, 2023, while related coverage appeared on other late-May dates. “Late May 2023” is therefore the clearest description of the announcement period. See the Alphatec announcement and its original press release.
What Alphatec’s role means
Alphatec is a Mumbai-based distributor of professional and personal AV equipment. In a conventional distribution arrangement, the local partner can connect manufacturers with dealers, rental companies, integrators and venue contractors; coordinate imports; arrange demonstrations; and help with quotations, installation and after-sales processes.

It also does not establish that Alphatec remains the active representative for every brand in 2026. Buyers should confirm those points directly with Alphatec before ordering.
Coda Audio: touring and installed sound reinforcement
The release describes Coda Audio as a German professional-audio company that manufactures drivers, hardware, enclosures, crossovers and electronics in-house at a European facility. Its listed launch products included:
- ViRAY line-array system and SCV-F sensor-controlled subwoofer
- HOPS12T, HOPS8T and HOPS5 point-source systems
- APS arrayable point-source system and CORAY4 column loudspeaker
- G715-Pro and G308-Pro full-range systems
- G15-Sub subwoofer and LINUS T-RACK amplification
Those categories are aimed primarily at touring sound, concerts, theatres, performance venues, large-format reinforcement and fixed installations. They are system products: output, coverage, rigging, DSP, amplifier presets and commissioning matter as much as the loudspeaker cabinet itself. They are not ordinary plug-and-play consumer speakers.

Waves System: specialist and experiential AV
Waves System was presented as a European specialist in audio and audio-visual technology. Public materials describe applications including background music, public-area messaging, interactive audio, museums, exhibitions, digital signage, directional audio, immersive installations and localized listening. Because published coverage conflicts over the company’s national base, “European brand” is the safer description.

The launch list included EVP380, AP420, MicroPlayer mkIII+, Hypersound, IR Pad, Mono Earphone, VibroGlass 1 (listed at 30 W), VibroPad, SensoPad and PB22IR.
These products are more relevant to museums, visitor attractions, retail and public spaces, exhibitions, signage and other designed experiences than to a conventional home stereo purchase. The Waves System site and Alphatec should be consulted for current models, specifications and Indian support.

What distribution can—and cannot—solve
A local channel partner can make imported specialist equipment easier to specify and procure by offering a route for quotations, demonstrations, system design, logistics, training and service coordination. Those are potential functions of a distribution partnership, not services promised in the 2023 release.
Distribution alone does not guarantee local stock, short lead times, factory-authorized repairs, replacement parts outside major cities, or continuing representation. A project-order product may still be imported only after a purchase order.
Checklist before placing an order
- Ask Alphatec or the proposed dealer to confirm current authorized status and the exact product configuration.
- Request delivered Indian pricing, taxes, duties, freight, lead time and whether the quotation is for stock or import-to-order.
- Obtain written warranty terms, repair responsibility, spare-parts timelines and firmware or DSP-preset support.
- Verify amplifier, DSP, networking, power, mounting and rigging compatibility.
- Require coverage modeling, acoustic measurements and commissioning for large or complex systems.
- Ask for relevant Indian references, installer qualifications and support coverage for the project’s location.
- Compare total project cost, including amplification, rigging, cabling, acoustic work, labor and maintenance—not only cabinet prices.
What the announcement proves—and what it does not
The announcement establishes a 2023 market-entry and distribution intention involving three named European brands and Alphatec. It does not by itself prove broad retail availability, Indian manufacturing, exclusive rights, pricing, sales success, Indian installations or an active partnership in August 2026. Current stock, warranty and dealer status require a fresh written confirmation.
