Erika Highland became president of Gladstone Investment Corporation (Nasdaq: GAIN) on October 1, 2026. The company announced the succession plan in March; its October 1 filing confirms that the appointment took effect on that date. Highland succeeded David Dullum, who remained the company’s chief executive officer.

When did Erika Highland become president?

Gladstone Investment announced its succession plan on March 23, 2026. At that time, the board approved Highland’s promotion to executive vice president effective immediately and set October 1 as the effective date for her appointment as president. The company’s October 1 filing confirms the transition occurred as scheduled.

The distinction matters: March was the announcement and board-action date, not the date Highland became president. Her appointment took effect on October 1, 2026.

Who did Highland replace, and what is David Dullum’s role?

Highland succeeded Dullum as president. On October 1, Dullum stepped down from the presidency and continued as chief executive officer. The president and CEO roles are therefore held by different people following the transition.

Who is Erika Highland?

Gladstone’s officer disclosure says Highland joined the Gladstone Companies in August 2005. Before her appointment as president, she had served as a senior managing director since October 2023 and became an executive vice president in March 2026.

Her disclosed investment work included sourcing and executing transactions, managing portfolio companies, and overseeing exits. She also served on boards of past and current portfolio companies. Before joining Gladstone, she worked at Wells Fargo Retail Finance and A.G. Edwards in investment banking. Highland holds a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, with a concentration in Finance, from Boston College.

How the appointment fit into Gladstone Investment’s succession plan

Highland’s appointment was one part of a broader leadership transition announced by the company in March. David Gladstone stepped down as CEO while remaining chairman; Dullum became CEO; and John Sateri became chief investment officer. Highland and Christopher Lee were also appointed executive vice presidents.

Gladstone described the changes as a succession plan intended to support continuity and governance, including separating the chairman and CEO positions. That is the company’s stated rationale, not an independently established assessment of the plan’s results.
