Epson ReadyPrint subscription: fixed-price color printing, limits and 24-month cost

Epson ReadyPrint offers fixed-price EcoTank printer subscriptions, but “unlimited” means ink replenishment within monthly hardware limits—not unlimited pages without conditions.

Epson ReadyPrint is a U.S. printer subscription announced August 12, 2025—not an ordinary ink-only plan. It supplies a qualifying EcoTank all-in-one, automatically replenishes genuine Epson ink and includes premium support for a stated two-year commitment. Epson’s “unlimited color printing” wording means unlimited ink replenishment within model-specific hardware limits; taxes, paper and some contract costs are separate.

What ReadyPrint includes

The U.S. service combines the printer and consumables in one subscription. Epson monitors ink levels and ships genuine Epson ink as needed, while the plan includes premium customer support and troubleshooting assistance. The printer must remain connected to the internet, and Epson’s current support language limits availability to the contiguous United States.

The launch announcement describes a two-year commitment. It does not, by itself, establish whether you own the printer after the final payment, so read the current U.S. agreement before enrolling at Epson’s ReadyPrint signup page.

Plans, printers and advertised 24-month payments

Plan Printer in Epson’s launch announcement Monthly price before tax Advertised payments over 24 months Intended use
Home EcoTank ET-2980U $14.99 $359.76 Home and family
Office EcoTank ET-3850U $19.99 $479.76 Home office
Business EcoTank ET-5850U $39.99 $959.76 Business
Business Wide EcoTank ET-16650U $54.99 $1,319.76 Business and wide-format work

These totals are simply 24 monthly payments and exclude taxes. Epson says business-plan customers may instead pay a $249.99 upfront activation fee for a lower monthly payment, but the launch release does not state those reduced payments. Delivery, cancellation, repair, return, damage and end-of-term charges are not established by the announcement, so do not treat the table as a complete ownership-cost comparison.

What “unlimited” actually means

Epson defines the offer as unlimited ink replenishment, not an unrestricted promise to print infinitely many pages. The launch release states these monthly hardware limits:

Epson EcoTank ET-2800 Wireless Color All-in-One Supertank Printer - Black

Launch model Stated monthly limit
ET-2980U 2,000 pages
ET-3850U 2,100 pages
ET-5850U 8,300 pages
ET-16650U 8,300 pages

There is a live-information discrepancy: Epson’s current ReadyInk page lists an ET-2850U at 1,250 pages per month instead of the launch release’s ET-2980U at 2,000. It lists the ET-3850U at 2,100 and both the ET-5850U and ET-16650U at 8,300. Confirm the exact model, limit and terms at checkout rather than relying on the word “unlimited.”

The limit is especially important for full-coverage photos, flyers and other ink-heavy jobs. A nominal page count does not necessarily represent the same ink consumption as an ordinary text page. The subscription also requires Epson genuine ink, an internet connection and payment of taxes; paper, specialty media and supplies for another printer are not included. Epson’s terms of use still apply.

Questions to resolve before signing

  • Is the commitment exactly 24 months under the current agreement?
  • What is the early-cancellation formula, if any?
  • Must the printer be returned, or can you keep it after the term?
  • Who pays for loss or damage, and what repair coverage applies?
  • Are delivery and replacement shipments included?
  • What happens if Epson changes or discontinues the subscribed model?
  • What functionality is available while the printer is offline?

The launch material confirms the commitment and internet requirement but does not answer all of these questions. Get the answers in the live U.S. terms before paying an activation fee or submitting a long-term commitment.

Who is most likely to benefit?

Good candidates

  • Households and home offices that print color frequently.
  • Small businesses that value predictable monthly budgeting.
  • Users who want automatic replenishment instead of monitoring ink.
  • Buyers who need a new EcoTank-class printer and bundled support.
  • Customers who can keep the printer online and expect to use it for the full term.

Poor candidates

  • Occasional printers or anyone whose volume is far below the plan’s cost threshold.
  • Existing EcoTank owners who only need replacement ink.
  • People who require third-party ink, offline operation or immediate hardware ownership.
  • Renters and temporary users who may move before two years ends.
  • Organizations needing enterprise service-level guarantees.
  • Users outside the contiguous United States.

ReadyPrint versus buying an EcoTank

Buying an equivalent EcoTank outright gives you ownership, avoids a two-year subscription and generally leaves you more control over connectivity and future ink choices. Compare its purchase price with 24 months of ReadyPrint payments, expected genuine-ink use, warranty or service costs, taxes, paper and likely resale value. Do not claim savings without using the same printer class and a defined monthly workload.

ReadyPrint’s advantage is convenience and predictable replenishment rather than a guaranteed lowest lifetime cost. Heavy color users may value that certainty; light users often pay for capacity they do not use. Epson’s own savings statements are manufacturer claims based on its methodology, not independent testing. Its U.S. model is also different from page-allowance services such as HP Instant Ink and Brother Refresh EZ Print.

Bottom line

ReadyPrint can make sense for a high-volume color printer who wants an EcoTank, automatic genuine-ink delivery and support in one predictable bill. It is not literally unlimited printing: the service has model-specific monthly limits, requires an internet connection and genuine Epson ink, excludes paper and taxes, and locks the customer into a stated two-year term. Confirm the live model, limit, cancellation terms and end-of-term ownership before subscribing.
