Ebuyer (UK) Limited entered administration on 11 August 2025. Administrators from FRP Advisory were appointed, and reporting within days said Frasers Group had bought the business or assets through a pre-pack sale. The Ebuyer name and website remain, but the post-administration operation is legally separate and its catalogue is visibly broader than the old component-focused proposition.
PC parts are still listed. However, current pages also feature gaming merchandise, toys, clothing, furniture and other general-retail products. That makes this a story about both insolvency and a change in what Ebuyer is for.
What happened to Ebuyer?
Companies House records Ebuyer (UK) Limited as entering administration on 11 August 2025. The Gazette notice names Alastair Rex Massey and Anthony John Wright of FRP Advisory Trading Limited as administrators: The Gazette notice.
Administration and acquisition are separate events. First, the old company entered an insolvency process. Then, according to The Register’s report, Frasers Group acquired Ebuyer’s business or assets through a pre-pack arrangement. The report describes the timing as shortly after the administrators were appointed; the precise sale completion date and consideration are not established by the sources available here.

The old legal entity did not simply become the new retailer. Companies House filing history still records the administration, including an administrator’s progress report filed on 13 March 2026: filing history.
Who bought Ebuyer, and why?
Frasers Group is the listed retail group associated with brands including Sports Direct, House of Fraser, Flannels, GAME and Jack Wills. Mike Ashley is its founder and a prominent retail figure; the corporate buyer described in reporting is Frasers Group, not Ashley personally.
The deal gives Frasers an established technology and online-retail name. It can potentially combine Ebuyer with group marketing, logistics, supplier relationships, loyalty schemes and finance. A wider range of electronics, gaming products and lifestyle goods also fits a cross-selling strategy.
“Bought out of administration” should therefore be read carefully: it means a transaction for some or all of the trading business or assets, not an automatic transfer of every debt, refund obligation, warranty promise or other liability of Ebuyer (UK) Limited.

What is the current Ebuyer?
Current legal wording identifies EBYR (Investco) Limited as the trading entity, using Ebuyer as a trading name. Ebuyer’s terms also describe a relationship with Frasers Group Financial Services and promote Frasers Plus credit. The indexed terms state a 29.9% variable representative APR, subject to status and financial circumstances: Ebuyer terms and conditions.
That wording confirms a structurally distinct post-administration operation. It does not, by itself, establish the full ownership chain of EBYR (Investco) Limited or prove which historical customer records and contracts transferred.
Has Ebuyer stopped being a PC retailer?
No—but it is no longer safe to assume that the site is a narrowly focused enthusiast-components shop.
Current navigation still exposes “Computing and Devices”, “Components”, “Gaming”, “Peripherals”, “TVs & Audio”, “Smart Tech” and “Business”. Indexed pages show processors, graphics cards, motherboards, memory, SSDs, power supplies, cases, monitors and gaming PCs: current catalogue example.

At the same time, Ebuyer’s sale page displayed 954 products and mixed graphics cards, processors, motherboards, memory, SSDs and gaming PCs with monitors, gaming chairs, toys and collectibles: current sale catalogue. That supports a broader, less specialist positioning. It does not prove that PC parts are a minority of the entire catalogue, nor that most component listings were removed.

What happens to old orders, refunds and warranties?

Orders before 11 August 2025
- The current Ebuyer operation says it cannot dispatch or refund those old-company orders.
- Undelivered-order, refund and relevant return claims should be raised with FRP Advisory.
- Preserve the invoice, order confirmation, tracking information, payment record and all correspondence.
Pre-administration warranties
The new Ebuyer says it cannot honour pre-administration warranty claims. A manufacturer may still provide a direct warranty route, depending on the product, warranty terms and proof of purchase. A retailer’s voluntary returns policy is not necessarily the same as statutory rights and may not transfer to the buyer.
Payment-provider options
Depending on the payment method, date and contract structure, a card provider or finance company may offer a remedy. Section 75 claims, chargebacks and other routes have specific legal conditions; none is guaranteed for every purchase. Contact the provider promptly and supply the documents it requests.

Orders after 11 August 2025
Ebuyer’s help information describes post-administration purchases as new-business orders under the current terms. Check the contracting entity, delivery promise, return process and warranty wording on the order you are placing rather than relying on the old company’s reputation.

It can still be useful when a current component is in stock at a competitive delivered price, or when a shopper wants electronics and gaming products in one basket. But a specialist comparison is sensible for an enthusiast build.
- Check the exact model number, not just a product family such as “RTX 5070” or “Core Ultra 7”.
- Compare the complete basket, including delivery, returns and any Frasers Plus requirement.
- Confirm whether stock is available for dispatch and whether the listing is sold directly by Ebuyer or through another trading arrangement.
- Read the warranty route and seller identity before paying.
- For business purchases, verify account support, invoicing and delivery commitments.

Stock, delivery and prices change. Compare like-for-like SKUs and check the selected retailer’s returns and warranty accountability.
The bottom line
Ebuyer survived the 11 August 2025 administration as a customer-facing brand under a new trading structure, with Frasers Group reported to have bought the operating business or assets. The name and component categories remain, but the assortment is broader and the old company’s customer liabilities are not automatically the new retailer’s responsibility. For a new purchase, judge Ebuyer on the exact seller, stock, total price and after-sales terms; for an old order, deal with FRP Advisory and preserve your evidence.
