JULY4DEALS was a real eBay promotion, but it expired on July 4, 2024. AppleInsider reported that the coupon took 20% off selected technology listings, with savings capped at $500 and up to two reported redemptions per user. It should not be treated as an active eBay offer in 2026 unless eBay publishes a new promotion with the same terms.
What the eBay July 4 Apple promotion offered
AppleInsider reported the promotion on June 28, 2024. The reported terms were:
- Code: JULY4DEALS
- Discount: 20% off qualifying merchandise
- Maximum saving: $500
- Reported end date: July 4, 2024
- Minimum purchase: none was reported
- Redemptions: up to two per user was reported
- Geography: eBay users registered on eBay.com, eBay.ca, or cafr.ebay.ca with U.S. or Canadian addresses, according to the reported terms
The coverage named selected Apple products including AirPods, MagSafe chargers and accessories, iPads, Apple Watch models, and iPhones. “Selected” is important: the promotion did not mean that every Apple listing on eBay qualified. The original report is at AppleInsider.
How the “up to $500 off” limit worked
The offer was a 20% discount capped at $500, not an automatic $500 price cut. An eligible subtotal of about $2,500 was needed to reach the cap.

| Eligible purchase subtotal | 20% calculation | Actual saving |
|---|---|---|
| $100 | $20 | $20 |
| $500 | $100 | $100 |
| $1,000 | $200 | $200 |
| $2,000 | $400 | $400 |
| $2,500 | $500 | $500 maximum |
| $3,000 | $600 before the cap | $500 after the cap |
The cap applied to the discount. A qualifying item priced above $2,500 could still receive the maximum $500 reduction, while a $600 item would receive a theoretical $120 reduction. Shipping, taxes, seller exclusions, and nonqualifying items could lower the effective saving. Combining products may have helped reach the cap, but the exact 2024 transaction rules should be understood as reported terms rather than assumed rules for future eBay coupons.
Which Apple listings could qualify?
The reported categories included:
- AirPods
- MagSafe chargers and related accessories
- iPads
- Apple Watch models
- iPhones
Eligibility was listing-specific. eBay promotions can be limited to selected event pages, sellers, categories, or individual listings. The product name alone was not proof that a coupon would apply. Comparable eBay coupon terms show how promotions may impose event, category, transaction, and redemption restrictions, but those later terms are not confirmation of every JULY4DEALS condition. The coupon was only one part of the buying decision. Compare the final delivered cost with current alternatives and evaluate the listing itself.

Verify the exact device
- Confirm model number, generation, storage, cellular or Wi-Fi configuration, and color.
- Check battery-health information when supplied, particularly for iPhones, iPads, Apple Watches, and MacBooks.
- Make sure the device is not carrier-locked, activation-locked, or enrolled in an organization’s management system.
Assess the seller and condition
- Review recent feedback and transaction history.
- Read the condition description instead of relying on the listing headline.
- Confirm whether the item is new, used, open-box, or seller-refurbished.
- Check that included chargers and accessories are genuine and complete.
Protect the purchase
- Read the return period, restocking terms, and who pays return shipping.
- Check whether an Apple warranty or third-party warranty is actually included.
- Compare the complete checkout total—not just the advertised price—with new, used, and refurbished alternatives.
Where to look for Apple products after an expired coupon
| Option | Main advantage | Main drawback |
|---|---|---|
| eBay | Wide selection of used, refurbished, open-box, and older Apple hardware | Condition, warranty, shipping, and returns vary by seller and listing |
| Apple Store | New products, direct Apple support, current configurations, and trade-ins | Usually less attractive for shoppers seeking older or used hardware |
| Apple Certified Refurbished | Apple-backed refurbished purchasing and support | Inventory changes and may not include the model or configuration wanted |
Do not assume any alternative matches the historical eBay price. Apple’s inventory and prices change, and eBay prices depend on the specific listing. Check live totals on the day you buy.
What a future eBay July 4 promotion should disclose
If eBay runs another holiday coupon, check the current terms before shopping. Look for the eligible event or listings, participating sellers and categories, whether auctions or Best Offers are excluded, the transaction and redemption limits, geographic requirements, the discount cap, and whether the offer can end early. A new code should be treated as a separate promotion, not as a continuation of JULY4DEALS.

Bottom line
The 2024 eBay July 4 Apple promotion was reported as a genuine 20%-off coupon with a $500 maximum saving, but it ended on July 4, 2024. In 2026, JULY4DEALS is not a current buying opportunity. For any replacement promotion, confirm that the individual listing qualifies and compare the final delivered price, condition, seller, warranty, and return protection before paying.
