Apple launched the M4 iMac in the U.S. from $1,299. A full $150 reduction would calculate to $1,149 before sales tax: $1,299 − $150 = $1,149. That arithmetic describes the maximum claimed saving, not proof that every base-model listing reached that price.

- Add AppleCare if you wanted to test the separate protection-plan discount.
- Proceed through checkout to the payment stage.
- Open the gift-card or promotional-code field.
- Enter APINSIDER exactly as shown.
- Confirm that the iMac reduction—and, if applicable, the AppleCare reduction—appears before submitting payment.
If a historical code is rejected, first verify the generation and configuration, remove incompatible accessories or other products, and recheck the spelling. Do not place an order based on an old code unless the discount is visible in the final order summary. AppleCare savings should never be assumed unless they appear separately in the cart.

Apple claimed up to 1.7 times faster everyday productivity and up to 2.1 times faster demanding workflows such as photo editing and gaming versus the M1 iMac. Those are Apple’s comparisons, not independent benchmark results.

Which configuration was sensible?
Base model
The $1,299 model suited general home, school and office use, but its two-port layout and 256GB SSD left less room for peripherals and local files. Memory and storage are not user-upgradeable after purchase, so a discount is less valuable if the specification will immediately require external storage or hubs.
10-core model
The $1,499 higher-tier model made more sense for heavier photo, video or multitasking workloads and for buyers who needed four Thunderbolt 4 ports or a Touch ID keyboard. Compare the discounted final price—not the headline percentage—with the base model’s price.

When an iMac is the wrong form factor
The integrated display and accessories simplify setup, but the desktop is not portable and offers less modularity than a Mac mini with a separate monitor. A Mac mini can be preferable for buyers who already own a display, want a larger or specialized screen, or expect to replace components independently; the display and accessories can erase the apparent savings.

Buying early made sense when
- Your exact color, memory, storage and port configuration was in stock.
- The cart showed a real saving of at least $150 versus Apple’s comparable launch configuration.
- You valued immediate availability and the reseller’s terms.
- The AppleCare reduction also appeared and matched your coverage needs.
Waiting made sense when
- Your configuration received less than the maximum discount.
- You were flexible about color, retailer or specification.
- Amazon, Best Buy or B&H could offer easier returns, faster shipping or a stronger price-match policy.
- You wanted to compare an Apple holiday promotion. Apple’s 2024 Black Friday offer was reported as gift cards rather than a direct price cut, so its value was not identical to cash off at checkout.
For any reseller purchase, verify the actual seller, return window, warranty handling, sales tax, shipping and keyboard layout. Check that the listing is new 2024 M4 hardware—not an M3 or M1 model, refurbished stock, or an imported keyboard variant.
Bottom line for shoppers today
The APINSIDER promotion was a genuine early-Black-Friday 2024 Adorama deal, with savings of up to $150 and a reported $20 AppleCare reduction. It is not evidence of a current 2026 price. The responsible way to evaluate a similar listing is to identify the exact M4 iMac configuration, subtract the discount shown in the live cart, add tax and delivery, and compare that total with Apple-direct and other retailers. The “up to” headline alone is not a buying decision.
